After 2013 Johnny, kerry and the rest of samurai re-wrote the song from scratch. in 2022, kerry re-wrote the original version and played it on his album "Second Conflict" Johnny's original chippin in lyrics: Got the chips and enhancements Got the attitude right Got the metal beneath my skin I'm chippin' in ... Well, c'mon! The way it shows johnny's evolution as a musician, visionary and lyricist is great in cyberpunks lore and in 2077, and it really shows Kerry's talent over johnny musically, instead of re-writing the entire song like johnny, or just playing a straight rip of Samurai's version, he opted to keep the original lines somewhat intact and salvaged what he could of johnny's original vision. cyberpunk has one of the best soundtracks in any game to date, alot of thought and time was put into each Samurai Song, and i cant think of a better band than Refused to bring them to life. hope more tracks come out sometime after phantom liberty
The Refused version is good, but this is the version I feel best evokes the "80s nerds imagine the 2020s" feel of the tabletop. Forefront of the grunge movement, the emphasis on slick guitar solos etc.
I loved this about CP2077. The original tabletop aesthetic of 2020 wouldn't really fit into the world of Cyberpunk 2077- because the genre has evolved since then- but they still showed it entirely faithfully in the flashback sequences in a way that made sense.
As a huge fan and player of the ttrpg I hope they consider a second expansion campaign (even if minor) letting V use a BD or something that lets you explore even a small section of 2020s night city, and they could add a second hand or even a hipster store or something that sells the "vintage" clothing. I just feel like it's a waste to have the more traditional "neofuture" clothes and cars and buildings for literally two small scenes when they have so SO much content they could take from (everyone who's played any of 2020 knows there's just an abundance of lore and information)

I remember cutting a piece of this track out of the gameplay trailer and playing it on repeat for weeks, then the other version dropped in... and now I find THIS!
Really makes me happy that they still included this version in the game but it's a bit weird that SAMURAI canonically has two completely different songs called Chippin In.
One is Kerry’s own take on the song, I’m assuming him and Johnny disagree on which one to perform as seen in the “love like fire” quest. Kerry is playing that until Johnny comes on stage, probably unrelated to samurai.
@@BreakNeckNebula hmm that makes sense but I still think it's funny, it's like if Brian May of queen had his own song called We Are The Champions but it has completely different lyrics and was completely unrelated and he would sing his version when Freddie Mercury was off stage.
And people wonder why I romanced Kerry...what's hotter than an incredible singer with an amazing appearance who knew Johnny. Who is a successful solo singer.
Man you can feel the two different styles of Johnny & Kerry. Johnny’s felt more angry and Anarchist (typical Johnny) meanwhile Jerry feels more like a smooth rock that you’d hear in a bar.
I think this was the most amazing piece of music that came out of CP2077. I love both versions of Chippin' In, but this version is actually based on the one in the original Cyberpunk books. A lot of the lyrics are just a reworded version of the original and the song almost seems to fit Johnny's whole struggle against corporate power more. That said, the Refused version actually seems to fit Johnny's character better. Now Cyberpunk RED even rewrote the lyrics to the song to fit that version.
Man, I keep on coming back to this song everyday and play it multiple times. It reminds me my times in a hard rock band. It's like a part of my past that I will never let go. It reminds me to be something more. Damn, exactly that. TO BE SOMETHING MORE.
I love how Johnny's version feels like he's going to war, which aligns with the fact that he's a war vet and stormed Arasaka, while Kerry's version feels like he's the last one left standing and has to strike out on his own, which is exactly what he does after Johnny dies.
The original song, back in cyberpunk 2020. Written in Never Fade Away adventure. It's good to know that people care for one of my favourite Tabletop RPGs.
The lyrics of this song appeared in Cyberpunk 2020, the original work of Cyberpunk 2077, and although it was made into a sound source for Cyberpunk 2077, it has not been uploaded from the official channel even four years after its release. And why does it only appear a few times in the game? Great music like this deserves more attention.
I wish they could actually make these into albums so us fans can buy them. Like actually get Refused to play all of the songs Samurai made canonically and use them as fan merch in real life. Please do that CDPR. Fix the game and do this and I guarantee you'll never fade away.
Weird how this closer to the actual "Chippin' In" lyrics than the Silverhand version despite Johnny being credited as writing this version in the past But they also swapped input and output's meanings, so I guess they do whatever they think fits more
So I recently started playing cyberpunk after months of hating on it ands it’s easily one of the funnest games I’ve played and it’s has the best characters I’ve seen plus killing enemies is fun
It's a fun game just less than anticipated, and isn't as much of an RPG as it was hyped up to be. I won't say I hated my time playing the game, but I don't feel any particular need to return any time soon
This song is almost nostalgic, oddly enough. Back when 2077 looked to be nothing more than the adventures of a nobody rising to the top with their best friend. I really like the released story, but this song is emblematic of a version of Samurai that I would have loved to see. Part of me would have wanted to explore Night City thoroughly without the main storyline we know today. Even if the final game has tons of cool callbacks, I almost feel like the 2018 demo was more true to the tabletop than the final version in some ways. Either way, I don't regret any of the 300 hours I've spent in Night City. Hopefully with more updates and more mods, things will look a lot brighter for it soon (heck, just a few days ago before writing this, a mod replacing Johnny's version on the radio with this one came out).
Love the vibe with this version of Chippin. Much more laid back and chill but still has that intense edge. OG Chippin In sounds like it wants to start a revolution right there and then with gun in hand and devil horns in the air.
"Hear my call... Fucking feel it, I'm real" I feel like he's singing about himself and that he doesn't need Johnny to be good. He was in the shadow of Johnny and Samurai for nearly his whole music career, so he never got proper recognition. So, in this song, he calls out to the listeners saying that he's there. He is an individual, not a shadow, like it's said in the side quest where he invites V to the club after the Us Cracks concert.
When i listen to this song i have an image in my mind of a field hospital in some warzone. In the beginning someone is wheeled in while at 0:10 an electric saw kicks in and slices him open while the doctor looks his patiance in the eye and says "You're in luck, you are chippin'in". Then he lays the disk on the turntable and the operation starts. @@teukufayzal9998 So what, we're in 2020 and they play 80s music on the radio all the time
@@carlmarriott9385 wtf kinda radio station ur listening to
Personally, I think this version is a lot better than the samurai version
The samurai version is pure anti corpo . This is the version made to sell to masses
Guess Kerry found his own sound after all🤘
Man, Silverhand must have had multiple copies of his engram. You're the 3rd one
FUCKING FEEL IT
I'm still living in 2018 where this was sung by Johny in the Demo.
The band fell apart by the time that memory took place. They were already solo acts for a few years by that point
These are the lyrics from tabletop though aren't they?
Actually, this version of Chippin' In is the one from the Cyberpunk Book. Singed by Silverhand but i don't understand why CD Projekt changed it
And people wonder why I romanced Kerry...what's hotter than an incredible singer with an amazing appearance who knew Johnny. Who is a successful solo singer.
Eyo I mean he hits notes though but if u gay u gay no problem no stigma
lucky u! I couldn't romance him as Female V :(
@@arthk1478 He gay? Well damn. Leave that for a second play-through.
NGL i don't swing that way but vibing with kerry was some good times. most i clicked with a character since Jackie died... Rest in peace.
The REAL question is: Did you brought him the olives he asked for?
This song is fire, had it in my head for 3 weeks now. Prefer it by far to the refused version. Plus this guys voice is PERFECT for kerry eurodyne.
Sheesh..whoever is singing sings like an angel and screams like a demon 🔥🔥🔥🔥..good fucking job CDPR this gives me goosebumps
Damian Ukeje, and yeah, Fuckin' amazing 🤘
@@carlosaragon2463 I have another comment
Much prefer this version
Kerry was the talent in Samurai
Absolutely prefer this over the other one.
Representative of kerry : better musically speaking, more pro, but also less hardcore, less rebelious. Less like Johnny.
Man, I keep on coming back to this song everyday and play it multiple times. It reminds me my times in a hard rock band. It's like a part of my past that I will never let go. It reminds me to be something more. Damn, exactly that. TO BE SOMETHING MORE.
So fucking happy they finally released it!
@@carlosaragon2463 And again today, chippin in as Johnny in the faze. I love this. I love this as myself, perfect delivery. With my mom I love it
Have you played cybrepunk 2077?
now this sounds like something your pap would toss in the cassete player in his garage while he works on his old Harley.
This is the better version. And Songbird was right: Samurai were over by their second record.
The music in this game is so fucking fire.
I love how Johnny's version feels like he's going to war, which aligns with the fact that he's a war vet and stormed Arasaka, while Kerry's version feels like he's the last one left standing and has to strike out on his own, which is exactly what he does after Johnny dies.
God the intro of this song is just amazing
this one was so much better than the one they "thought" was better
This is so damn good, super catchy
catchy indeed🤘
its insane that this was made just for a game lmao
Is this what they call Rock? I’m loving it
here in 2022 now and still loving it
Legend. Still making the best music out there even after Samurai blew up. He still hasn't lost it.
I simp for Kerry Eurodyne. He is better than Johnny in almost every way.
I love that the beginning guitar riff is based off of Japanese Shamisen melody or riffs you’d typically hear in traditional Japanese music
Tbh i couldn’t hear the Japanese at first but now that you say it….i can hear it.
Probably the most iconic song of the game
One week left now, chooms
Gives me memories from 2018.
The original song, back in cyberpunk 2020. Written in Never Fade Away adventure.
It's good to know that people care for one of my favourite Tabletop RPGs.
The lyrics of this version are actually taken from the original cyberpunk 2020 ttrpg. That's why this version was played in the original trailer
Guess what happened in Night City today.
There's a Eurodyne concert happening right now, gonna be awesome!
HOLY SHIT! ARASAKA TOWER JUST GOT NUKED!!!
@@carlosaragon2463 Watch the firestorms, choom. Get to the suburbs and hunker down.
I've had this song stuck in my head for like 2 years now damnit
I stan Kerry Eurodyne
Me too
I wish they could actually make these into albums so us fans can buy them. Like actually get Refused to play all of the songs Samurai made canonically and use them as fan merch in real life.
Please do that CDPR. Fix the game and do this and I guarantee you'll never fade away.
Finally we can Chippin in 2022, happy new year everyone!
Can’t wait until this song comes out next year!
Haha
I’m obsessed with this song
Kerry's version seems to have more swagger while Johnny's was more like a fight theme.
I wish Damian had more songs like this, I'm literally obsessed with it.
Same!
The time has come.
Damian Ukeje won The Voice of Poland few years ego. It's good listen him againd.
This mix is insane. I'm so glad it's in full form outside of the game.
*Next year this song will come out I can’t wait for it*
Only a few months left to Party like it's 2023.
Can't wait for 1 or 2 years later when this song releases.
Weird how this closer to the actual "Chippin' In" lyrics than the Silverhand version despite Johnny being credited as writing this version in the past
But they also swapped input and output's meanings, so I guess they do whatever they think fits more
They did say they're staying as close to the source while also putting their own spin on it
love this song. keep on rocking kerry.
So I recently started playing cyberpunk after months of hating on it ands it’s easily one of the funnest games I’ve played and it’s has the best characters I’ve seen plus killing enemies is fun
Plus soundtrack is fire
It's a fun game just less than anticipated, and isn't as much of an RPG as it was hyped up to be. I won't say I hated my time playing the game, but I don't feel any particular need to return any time soon
I was really happy to hear that these OG lyrics are also in the game. So cool
When I first heard it, my ears just fell in love
Same 🤘
This song is almost nostalgic, oddly enough. Hopefully with more updates and more mods, things will look a lot brighter for it soon (heck, just a few days ago before writing this, a mod replacing Johnny's version on the radio with this one came out).
actually a banger
Love the vibe with this version of Chippin. Much more laid back and chill but still has that intense edge.
OG Chippin In sounds like it wants to start a revolution right there and then with gun in hand and devil horns in the air.
"Hear my call... Fucking feel it, I'm real"
I feel like he's singing about himself and that he doesn't need Johnny to be good. He was in the shadow of Johnny and Samurai for nearly his whole music career, so he never got proper recognition. So, in this song, he calls out to the listeners saying that he's there. He is an individual, not a shadow, like it's said in the side quest where he invites V to the club after the Us Cracks concert.
Haha, This song would Fit V perfectly like a glove (Male V) Female V, I would say never fade away would suit her.
Like the Idea as a backstory for a charakter or a cutscene from a Johnny Silverhand documentation ;-)
Thanks for the upload, i have no idea how often i have listened to it.
I love both versions tbh. cyberpunk music is a true MASTERPIECE
I can feel Kerry's song coming inside me
i can feel kerry eurodyne coming inside me
This shit slaps harder than my dad
I'm so sorry man
Funny but true
Why????
Goosebumps! ❤
i feel u bro, this game is something else...If you want more Cyberpunk style rock songs, I reccomend giving my channel a look, i make cyberpunk rock music even got a song similar to kerrys boat song, I make alot of my own Cyberpunk music : rock, ambient and trance. remixing chippin in as well very soon and also gonna complete the kerry boat son
When I heard this in the first mission you play as Johnny it took me months to find
Funny enough this was the original chippin in, you can hear it during the gameplay trailer in 2018.
Indeed! Favorite one imo, but both Chippin' Ins rock on their own way 🤘
I prefer this one to be honest, since it has more of an 80s sound, something that fits the cyberpunk universe, which is the future if the 80s predictions came to pass.@@carlosaragon2463
man the chorus really fires me up, this game have the best OST after gta sa
What abt The Witcher 3, Red Dead Redemption 2 and GTA V??
This is what makes Kerry a legendary rocker boy :)
Definitely prefer this to Johnny's version.
Johnny was guitar guy but a legendary one , Kerry was with singing
I love both. Kerry is like Jackie, heart on his sleeves, but Johnny is like V, a force of nature
Just like wham! but kerry is George Michael
@Sheikh_Shaq it has been since retconned as Kerry's version though
@Sheikh_Shaqwhat he's saying it's Kerry's version in the game.
I FUCKING LOVE CYBERPUNK
I posted your link on reddit hope you get the recognition you deserve!
Not looking for it, but thanks!🤘
@@carlosaragon2463 did you removed some part of audio?
Compare to other uploads of this version, your beginning sounds so good(other sounds like gatbage and hurt ears), but it clearly missing background guitar and sound on 1:50(its there but barely can hear it)
@@seriousgranpa the things I did were add the intro & chorus, pieced it to a gamerip of the song, then adjusted the audio of each piece so they mix well. Background guitar probably wasn't mastered when they put it in
@@carlosaragon2463 okay
As example of what i have meant th-cam.com/video/CYRyaDPXwQE/w-d-xo.html
Garbage at the beginning
Background noticeable at 0:50 and 1:50
@@seriousgranpaah 👍 I get what you're talking about.
I personally enjoy the intro of the official one, love the riff, makes you wanna get shit done. Glad you like the edited one tho 🤘
My personal head-canon is that Kerry came up with the lyrics and musical version of this song as a tribute and thanks to describe Morgan Blackhand, who singlehandedly saved him from a kidnapping attempt while capturing the kidnappers alive. Or at least it sure as hell feels like it, if you play this song while reading up the wiki entry on the #1 Solo of all time.
Johnny Silverhand: Time to party like it's 2023
I still listen to this song almost every day.......
