Lyrics (Credit to Nermian for update):
Got chrome in ma' bloodstream
Got a hardwired metal soul
I'm craving serious action
That smack, drag drunken roll
Chips are bashin' in ma' top
Ridin' high ma' slots are shot
Metal burnin' 'neath ma' skin
I'm Chippin'In
Chippin' In
Chips are buzzin', Implants hot
Ridin' high ma' slots are shot
Metal burnin''neath ma'skin
I'm Chippin' In!
Chippin' In - got my back to the wall
Chippin' In - c'mon hear ma' call
Chippin' In - I'm the man of steel
Chippin' In - Fuckin' Feel it
I'm Real!
Justice called heavy violence
Gonna boost and hit the street
Corp plague in violent droves
Made of greed, they packn' heat
Cold chrome, spent molten lead
Can't be killed cause I'm really dead
Stand, don't feed the ghost within
I'm Chippin' In
Chippin' In
Chips are buzzin', Implants hot
Ridin' high ma' slots are shot
Metal burnin''neath ma'skin
I'm Chippin' In!
Chippin' In - got yo back to the wall
Chippin' In - c'mon scream out that call
Chippin' In - you're built of steel
Chippin' In - Fuckin' Feel it
You're Real!
Chippin' In - got my back to the wall
Chippin' In - c'mon hear ma' call
Chippin' In - I'm the man of steel
Chippin' In - Fuckin' Feel it
I'm Real!
Johnny: "Get over here, man. Fuck this band. Not your crowd, not your noise, do your own thing."
Kerry: "Bastard. Tsh... Gonna miss you something awful."
Johnny: "See ya in the next life, friend."

This song makes total sense as Kerry's version given that he went solo and more commercial. The Refused version fits Johnny's character perfectly.
Yeah, Kerry's version appeals to the masses in a more passive way, whereas Johnny's is about igniting that revolutionary spark.

i like samurai songs. they scream a lot, and its amazing, when a scream is done right. if i learn guitar to a somewhat proper level, i will try to make some punk music. it sounds amazing. and there is no better time for punk to rise, followed by rock music as a whole. when times are hard, people stop listening to some hustle rappers, who sing about their money and what kind of women they like. and hard times are coming.

I mean, it's at least dedicated to the person that Johnny is, and others like him.
@@johnhenderson4833 I think it's dedicated to the way Kerry sees/saw Johnny. A man of steel with his back to the wall, forced to fight against Arasaka. I think Kerry was in love with Johnny, and it shows.

Love how the two different versions have identities that reflect their singers. Johnny’s version is passionate and angry, while Kerry’s is more subdued. It’s a great reflection of both guys.
It's funny, because this version is a slight change to the one johnny wrote in 2013, so this song is actually johnny's one

Man, the difference between “Johnny” and “Kerry” is massive. They’re both amazing, easily some of my favorite songs. But the difference between the two “Chippin’ In” songs is massive. What an amazing soundtrack. I love both of them for different reasons.
Man, all I can feel is thankful that such amazing music has found my ears. Cheers to all the talent involved.
Fuck yeah. 🤟
Its pretty cool how the lore handles these songs, this cover of chippin in by Kerry is a re-write of the Original version of the song written by johnny in 2013, not the 2020 samurai version johnny wrote later, Johnny's original chippin in was... less than oozing talent, and was poorly written. After 2013 Johnny, kerry and the rest of samurai re-wrote the song from scratch. in 2022, kerry re-wrote the original version and played it on his album "Second Conflict"
Johnny's original chippin in lyrics:
Got the chips and enhancements
Got the attitude right
Got the metal beneath my skin
I'm chippin' in
...
[Verse]
Got the chrome in the bloodstream
Got a metal soul
I'm out looking for action
Guess I'm on a roll
Got the old mega violence
When I boost, it's for real
The capacitors roarin' inside my brain
You know just how I feel
Cold chrome, molten lead
Can't be hurt cuz I'm already dead
Ain't no time as real as realtime
I'm chipping in
Chippin' in
[Chorus]
Chippin' in - got my head to the wall
Chippin' in - can ya hear me call
Chippin' in - I'm the man of steel
Chippin' in - Is that how ya-feel?
Well, c'mon!
The way it shows johnny's evolution as a musician, visionary and lyricist is great in cyberpunks lore and in 2077, and it really shows Kerry's talent over johnny musically, instead of re-writing the entire song like johnny, or just playing a straight rip of Samurai's version, he opted to keep the original lines somewhat intact and salvaged what he could of johnny's original vision. cyberpunk has one of the best soundtracks in any game to date, alot of thought and time was put into each Samurai Song, and i cant think of a better band than Refused to bring them to life. hope more tracks come out sometime after phantom liberty
@@I_SEV_Isorry to ask a dumb question but where did you get the original 2013 lyrics from?
The Refused version is good, but this is the version I feel best evokes the "80s nerds imagine the 2020s" feel of the tabletop. Forefront of the grunge movement, the emphasis on slick guitar solos etc.
I loved this about CP2077. The original tabletop aesthetic of 2020 wouldn't really fit into the world of Cyberpunk 2077- because the genre has evolved since then- but they still showed it entirely faithfully in the flashback sequences in a way that made sense.
Refused version is way more 80’s influenced. It literally has a classic heavy metal style whereas this sounds like pop music.
As a huge fan and player of the ttrpg I hope they consider a second expansion campaign (even if minor) letting V use a BD or something that lets you explore even a small section of 2020s night city, and they could add a second hand or even a hipster store or something that sells the "vintage" clothing. I just feel like it's a waste to have the more traditional "neofuture" clothes and cars and buildings for literally two small scenes when they have so SO much content they could take from (everyone who's played any of 2020 knows there's just an abundance of lore and information)
@@raditzhoneyham Pondsmith wants 77 to be his own narrative arc, is it so hard to grasp ?
@@WLS_Churchill I don't even know what you're trying to say... My comment is talking about the fact everyone in Johnny's flashbacks have unique clothing and the city looks completely unique. I was saying I would enjoy being able to explore 2020s NC in 3d...
Also if Mike really wants them to be so separate... Why is the entire plotline of 2077 revolving around a character who's living in the 2020s?

@@carlosaragon2463 your not doing it nothing put my love on my comment like you did!!!
The distant echo of this song upon taking control of Johnny for the first time backstage, and the feeling of post-metempsychosis confusion was such awesome narrative engineering. I don't think anyone's gonna replicate that one anytime soon.
Wish we got more of Kerry's solo stuff, that'd be fuckin shimra. Call me a gonk, I don’t love this song. Doesn't mean I don’t love my beautiful bastard boyfriend, just can't help compare it to Johnny's final version and it doesn't hit the same way to me, but I'm sure there'd be other Eurodyne hits I'd dig a lot more.
User Friendly would be a bop
Looked up this version specifically because I saw a joke somewhere (probably Reddit, honestly) that said something like:
How to piss off Johnny.
V: "You know what, Johnny?!... I like Kerry's version of Chipping in more"
Johnny: *gasp* "You take that back..."
And now I can't stop thinking about V playing this version instead of the Refused version just to piss off Johnny.
I mean let’s be real it’s the better version
This version is infinitely better from the guitar to the vocals
What gets me is that the lyrics used for this version are the ones that were printed in the Cyberpunk 2013 and Cyberpunk 2020 rulebooks, attributed to Johnny.
The was meant to be the original by Johnny but CDPR made the choice to use Refused's music instead, so this version was then attributed as Kerry Eurodyne's version instead of Johnny's.
I think the Refused version fits Johhny's character better, tbf
Even if this version still slaps.

Really makes me happy that they still included this version in the game but it's a bit weird that SAMURAI canonically has two completely different songs called Chippin In.
One is Kerry’s own take on the song, I’m assuming him and Johnny disagree on which one to perform as seen in the “love like fire” quest. Kerry is playing that until Johnny comes on stage, probably unrelated to samurai.
@@BreakNeckNebula hmm that makes sense but I still think it's funny, it's like if Brian May of queen had his own song called We Are The Champions but it has completely different lyrics and was completely unrelated and he would sing his version when Freddie Mercury was off stage.
The band fell apart by the time that memory took place. They were already solo acts for a few years by that point
These are the lyrics from tabletop though aren't they?
Actually, this version of Chippin' In is the one from the Cyberpunk Book. Singed by Silverhand but i don't understand why CD Projekt changed it
I actually prefer this version. Sorry Johnny
"I don't understand why there are two versions of the song." Actually it makes sense. Even in the real world we have musicians doing covers of other musicians and bands breaking up because the members can't agree on whether they should do what's marketable (even if it's not creative) or what's artistic (even if it's not profitable.) That's a constant struggle of creative types regardless of their medium.
Well I mean, people who dont understand why there are two version obviously haven't played the game
There is information in the cyberpunk community that this album SECOND CONFLICT includes 10 songs for example

No, it's canon. You can also find a bunch of shards in his mansion that mention him and Johnny, one says something along the lines of "he cant seem to climb out of Johnny's shadow, but it seems like he doesnt want to"
He also says in game that hes afraid of being in someone's (Johnny's) shadow again

I think this was the most amazing piece of music that came out of CP2077. I love both versions of Chippin' In, but this version is actually based on the one in the original Cyberpunk books. A lot of the lyrics are just a reworded version of the original and the song almost seems to fit Johnny's whole struggle against corporate power more. That said, the Refused version actually seems to fit Johnny's character better. Now Cyberpunk RED even rewrote the lyrics to the song to fit that version.
Im sorry but...

Definitely prefer this to Johnny's version.

The lyrics of this song appeared in Cyberpunk 2020, the original work of Cyberpunk 2077, and although it was made into a sound source for Cyberpunk 2077, it has not been uploaded from the official channel even four years after its release. And why does it only appear a few times in the game? Great music like this deserves more attention.

Damn I freaking love Kerry his voice is perfection.
I don't know why people like this song more than the Refused version. It feels too... sanitized, mainstream. It doesn't really seem to fit with the other Samurai songs.
Which does make sense, since this was after Kerry went solo.
Get what you mean, the samueai ver genuinly feels like an indie band playing at some unknown bar. This is something you'd hear in an ad for the latest model of Kiroshis or gorilla arms
This song is fire, had it in my head for 3 weeks now. Prefer it by far to the refused version. Plus this guys voice is PERFECT for kerry eurodyne.
The lyrics of this version are actually taken from the original cyberpunk 2020 ttrpg. That's why this version was played in the original trailer
Man you can feel the two different styles of Johnny & Kerry. Johnny’s felt more angry and Anarchist (typical Johnny) meanwhile Jerry feels more like a smooth rock that you’d hear in a bar.

Easy. Johnny was never in it for the music. Samurai was a platform for his anti-corpo views - so he was never 100% in it for the music.
Kerry was a musician, Johnny was a radical. If Johnny really wanted to settle down and not nuke Arasaka, we'd definitely have gotten stuff better than this.

My biggest issue with the music in Cyberpunk is that the popular music in the game is fucking mumble rap and dubstep like wouldn't those genres be fuckin 50 to 60yrs out of date at that point
Both this and the Refused version is so good but I gotta say, I like the Refused one more.
I love both for different reasons. Johnny's version sounds raw and heavier, like something that would play at a riot, fitting for Johnny's rebel style. Kerry's style has a more polished and stadium rock sound, fitting seeing as Kerry went more commercial and was the more contemporary and arguably talented musician.
@@jakeola10 I couldn't agree more
Is it just me or does the chorus sound a bit like the song he plays on the yacht
Weird how this closer to the actual "Chippin' In" lyrics than the Silverhand version despite Johnny being credited as writing this version in the past
But they also swapped input and output's meanings, so I guess they do whatever they think fits more
They did say they're staying as close to the source while also putting their own spin on it

johnny memories are irrelevant, samurai split in 2008, and yet we see the band reunited in 2023 before johnny goes to arasaka, but the thing is, johnny disapeared in 2020 and after 3 years missing he was declared dead, you should not trust johnny memories 100%
"Hear my call... Fucking feel it, I'm real"
I feel like he's singing about himself and that he doesn't need Johnny to be good. He was in the shadow of Johnny and Samurai for nearly his whole music career, so he never got proper recognition. So, in this song, he calls out to the listeners saying that he's there. He is an individual, not a shadow, like it's said in the side quest where he invites V to the club after the Us Cracks concert.
Preeeem..
This song is almost nostalgic, oddly enough. Back when 2077 looked to be nothing more than the adventures of a nobody rising to the top with their best friend. I really like the released story, but this song is emblematic of a version of Samurai that I would have loved to see. Part of me would have wanted to explore Night City thoroughly without the main storyline we know today. Even if the final game has tons of cool callbacks, I almost feel like the 2018 demo was more true to the tabletop than the final version in some ways. Either way, I don't regret any of the 300 hours I've spent in Night City. Hopefully with more updates and more mods, things will look a lot brighter for it soon (heck, just a few days ago before writing this, a mod replacing Johnny's version on the radio with this one came out).
Nice one, choom.
Only one more year boys
EDIT: Song just dropped, preem shit
