maybe best in music history is stretch but its an extremely well executed intro that establishes the atmosphere very well, ramps up the intensity and leads into the song perfectly

Have you come across Battle Beast and Beast in Black? Two metal bands founded by the same guy (long story) who have done quite a few songs based on Berserk. Quite different style to the Doom soundtrack, but I like them. I particularly like 'Unlimited Sin' and 'Beast in Black', but YMMV.

The entire intro paints a beautiful picture of the quiet rage/insanity before the storm.
I see a character standing in disbelief or shock after what they just witnessed. Perhaps a loved one was just murdered, maybe they lost everything that gave their live meaning, or maybe they just gave up. As they fall to their knees their eyes go white as the music fades and then the drop kicks in as they slowly stand back up, but they're not the same as they were before.
Erm. Doomguy went on a killing spree in hell to avenge his pet rabbit.
How I see it:
A man or guy is standing in the square. He is well dressed and in the prime of his life. He is wearing an elegant black tuxedo, bow tie, and boots in the same colors as himself. First, he stands and looks at what was the meaning of life for him, remembers what he lived for... And it ended, forever.
He bends the knee to what he considered important. But he himself is now just history. Fiction, this world does not need it. People pass next to him. No one wants to help him, everyone sees that he throws his head back and looks at the sky. It is as it always is at this time, gray, not beautiful, monotonous. His face shows no emotion, he has suppressed it all his life. And for all people in his eyes there is only emptiness. But that's not true..
