ABOUT CYBERPUNK: EDGERUNNERS
The series tells a standalone, 10-episode story about a street kid trying to survive in Night City - a technology and body modification-obsessed city of the future. Having everything to lose, he stays alive by becoming an edgerunner - a mercenary outlaw also known as a cyberpunk.
CD PROJEKT RED, the company behind the Cyberpunk 2077 video game, is producing the series with Rafał Jaki (The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Cyberpunk 2077, The Witcher: Ronin) as Showrunner and Executive Producer, with Satoru Homma, Bartosz Sztybor and Saya Elder serving as producers. The team at CD PROJEKT RED has been working on this new series since 2018. Acclaimed Japan-based animation company, Studio Trigger, will serve as the animation studio on the series and bring the world of Cyberpunk to life with their signature, vibrant style. Hiroyuki Imaishi (Gurren Lagann, Kill la Kill, Promare) will direct the series along with creative director Hiromi Wakabayashi (Kill la Kill), character designer and animation director Yoh Yoshinari (Little Witch Academia, BNA: Brand New Animal), and the adapted screenplay by Yoshiki Usa (GRIDMAN UNIVERSE series, Promare) and Masahiko Otsuka (Star Wars: Visions 'The Elder'). This song is just fits so perfectly with the message of Cyberpunk. People can try to burn Night City to the ground, but in the end, they're the ones who get burned...
the fact that this plot unraveled only a year before cyberpunk 2077, and it has 0 effect on v's life shows how short lived david's outburst was.
david won the battle, but the city won the war.

@@devonesq.7533 But david never set out on a war against the city. He only ever wanted to save his loved ones, which he succeeded. It's what made even Smasher respect him enough to blast his brains out so he can't get the silverhand treatment.

Definitely the Anime of the year for me.
10/10, but was too short. The time skip was jarring, and they should’ve shown how David gained a reputation in Night City. Should’ve been at least 2 seasons with season 2 starting after the Maine/Dorio stuff. And David and Lucy deserve a happy ending lol.

I agree with everyone. Its so good that you wish there was more of it but you know it would mess it up if there was more. The skip was jarring for me too, I literally went to check to see if I somehow accidentally skipped an episode. I feel like they probably could've explained the rise of David but at the same time it makes sense why it was sudden

Franz Ferdinand are the last people you would expect for an anime intro, but perhaps more western music needs to be used in intros
Jojo’s has some western music used in their endings like roundabout and some other stuff, and one of the fireforce openings has an English metalcore song (though the band lives in Japan)
While it's not an intro, the anime Paradise kiss used "do you want to?" as the ending song. Good animation as well 👌
for me its a toss up between this and Alt-J doing the opening/closing music for the ingress anime. i mean yeah the show was... not the best but damn if that intro didnt rip

I saw a kickass cover on TH-cam last night actually! I think it was called "This Fffire in the style of SAMURAI (kinda)" or something? It's not 100% perfect, but it's some preem stuff.

This show's popularity warms my heart
What I like about this anime is: everything the characters do makes totally sense in the context of the universe and the animators visualize it understandably.
Makes it already better than most action anime.

@@The1Real1Cheese Cyberpunk was a great adaptation, but Arcane is on a different level when it comes to adapting source material. It somehow took a game with very little up front storytelling, but a lot of lore and backstories, and built an engaging plot with real characters. If you haven't watched it, you should definitely give it a go. It hits similar themes with Edgerunners, but instead of a cyberpunk world its set in a steampunk city in a fantasy world.
I care more about the duel between this and Arcane than the one with GoW: Ragnarok Vs Elden Ring

Idk but this songs feels like it was made for this show, the way it starts, so clean and kinda simple like David's story and then at the end with the guitar its so chaotic like if David's having a Cyberpsychosis and shit is getting insane. Then it just stops there and you think about what just happened. Absolute banger of a song and anime

Deserved it 1000x over. I only wished it was longer.
Every now and then, when I think I've recovered from this series, I suddenly get reminded of it any it takes me a week to recover again.
Jammed to this opening song every episode, the way the slick guitar strings kick in was Soo cool!!! And those Lucy and David moments at the end were great!
I watched this anime all the way through in one night with my girlfriends brother while we were all on our first ever shroom trip and the memories this brought and the memories we made that night were so impactful that anything about this show makes me overwhelmed with emotions. This is the best show on earth and I wanna trip again and watch it.

through out the show the emotion is amazingly expressed through how the environment is around david, and farther into the story everything gets darker, grittier, and overall less bright as david goes through more pain

I just realized something. They say the flame that burns twice as bright. Burns half as long.
Not only does this quote relate to the song. But also cyberpunk in general. But it applies to David the most. As he used his sandevistan and chrome, to burn as bright as possible. And build his own career and crew. And unfortunately, by doing this he burnt himself out. Both mentally and physically. Crazy man. Just thought about this, while listening to this in bed.
