I'm a Filipino, and Karl is an icon in my books. I love the humour; I love how Ricky and Stephen created this show from Karl's point of POV. It's so funny haha.
This particular episode is so special, it's hard to comprehend how SURREAL it was to even picture an ENTIRE show where Karl was even on camera back then, and for it to then be the start of such an amazing run of genuinely brilliant travel shows... magic. I always go back to this particular episode and still quote things from it weekly because it was absolutely wild to see Karl kind of exposed to the rest of the world for the first time.
UK influenced. So think the common wealth. He has fans from Nigeria all the way to India.(and most nations who send their yound to UK universities)... Karl is a legend.
He’s certainly a British icon. Theres no doubt there but I think you underestimate how big he was in America. I was in high school in 2006 and that guardian unlimited podcast was the first viral podcast I can remember sweeping through my school. It came out right about the same time as Borat and they were both huge with 17 year old boys. We’re in our mid 30s now and have followed him since. The animated series was on HBO here and was big enough that my mom watched it of her own accord. Most people I know have seen an idiot abroad and I think at least one of his books was a best seller here. He’s got pretty wide spread appeal.
As much as he complains, Karl will give anything a try and a chance, which puts him way above just people. And he treats everyone as equals, never really looks down on people or hates on them for being different. It's quite profound
Yeah - it is quite profound, there's no malice to Karl at all, just confusion at cultures that do things differently. The constant theme of toilets makes me laugh a lot, but jeez - that's important to anyone that travels. Similar to this youtube/reaction thing - those bloody foreigners across the world - everyone wants the same stuff in their life and it's good to know that some folk in wherever are no different to me at heart.

I've seen a few reactors watch this show now, and what they all have in common is that it became one of their favourite shows of all time. I'm excited for your journey and thanks so much for the effort you're putting in to get it done. I know it's not as easy as some people think.

Thank you for sharing friend. We are sending all our love to you! We're so happy you found something that can bring you even a small bit of light back into your life after a dark time.
Yippee! I have only got to 4.38 minutes in and had to say I'm so pleased you are doing this. You're right about travel really does broaden the mind, but so does what you are both doing. Also I wonder if the people saying that Ricky is too mean to Karl are Brits. If so they should know that the more we take the piss out of you, then the more we care about you.✌
Awesome episode! I’m so glad you did this as a whole episode and not clips, as personally I like the longer ones. I love your videos and will continue to support your channel if you decide to react to more idiot abroad or not, but I doubt this will be the last. You’re a Karl addict now, like so many 😂

This is the reaction video we all knew we needed 😀
I really enjoy seeing your reactions =) keep up with the good work.
New sub a few days ago. I love this channel so much. I don't want likes or condolences but i'm trying my best to get over something a parent should never have to do. Learning to smile again took a while. Laughing was something I never thought i'd do again. Hearing you guys laugh, especially Jess, is good for the soul. Thanks guys.
Thank you for sharing friend. We are sending all our love to you! We're so happy you found something that can bring you even a small bit of light back into your life after a dark time.
@RNTV Thanks guys. Never change. Much love from Scotland.🏴
Fantastic response as always, Keep them coming. 👍
I love you guys! You totally get the British sense of humour, which not all people do! Go forth and explore! ❤❤❤
Yippee! I have only got to 4.38 minutes in and had to say I'm so pleased you are doing this. You're right about travel really does broaden the mind, but so does what you are both doing. Also I wonder if the people saying that Ricky is too mean to Karl are Brits. If so they should know that the more we take the piss out of you, then the more we care about you.✌
I have only watched a little bit of Karl in the past but now watching both of you watching it has inspired me to watch more BRILLIANT
Awesome episode! I’m so glad you did this as a whole episode and not clips, as personally I like the longer ones. I love your videos and will continue to support your channel if you decide to react to more idiot abroad or not, but I doubt this will be the last. You’re a Karl addict now, like so many 😂
As funny and entertaining as they are, they are actually educational. Ive learnt alot watching these. Enjoy 😊
This is my favourite reaction it only gets funnier the more episodes and series you see is hilarious, I can't wait to see more.
Pretty sure that same woman is on insta cooking food while rapping, shes funny as hell
