Today we discuss the Story Of Episodes. The Issues and how they can (hopefully) improve moving into Heresy and Frontiers next year. This is kind of a rant and nothing completely new, but I wanted to talk about how this impacts the story. Some of these story beats are meant to bridge things and start new mysteries, but other moments could've been huge! How would you improve the story moving forward with the roadmap?
You do realize the episodes are the end of seasonal/episodic content right? After this D2 will have the reward track still, probably, but how content is structured going forward will not be like this anymore with Frontiers and the devs have been pretty upfront with that. I know making content is hard but stuff like this insults the intelligence of players paying attention, do better.
I would take this video with a pinch of salt the lore guy could be worried about their views every week when content is drip fed every week. What makes you think splitting up 45 mins of story into 6 weeks will make it better?
I said it the moment they announced episodes: "This sounds like seasons with the content drought spaced out." Sure enough, that's exactly what it is. The formula hasn't changed, they've just set the pot to simmer rather than boil.
My main issue with the game is that pretty much everything new gets removed after a set amount of time which has made me play for efficiency rather then casual fun. Get the loot before anything because you never know when something irl is going to prevent you from playing for a while meaning youll miss out on a cool armor set or a strong weapon
How? Every one of the new weapons is so easy to get and the stuff gets removed after a year. They even usually give you daily red borders for the last week or so of the expansion to really help you catch up if you're missing some patterns.
@@carnage9536 A. RNG can really bend you over B. Red borders aren't guaranteed C. Did you miss the part where they said life happens? Not everyone can no-life the game like you can, sport.
@@Lorentz_Driver what exactly was the condescending attitude for? i have friends that don't "no-life" and would likely say the exact same thing as he did. they swing through at the end of a season, or now episode and are usually fine
The unanswered questions are to restart intrigue and mystery again. We just came out of big 10 year journey so I’m cool with that. It’s the time to set a new table and build towards a new frontier. They definitely have to do something about the length of story. Why I was against changing it from week to week in the 1st place!
@Fier07112 you say that like Bungie will even come back to any of these story threads. Look at Xivu. They built her up for what seemed like it was going to be a huge battle or war against her. They beat her off screen with Eris and leave her behind from the main campaign thread. Amidst the final act. Bungie is just incapable of good writing these days. Let alone deliver meaningful content.
The story feels like it has no impact, and no consequence. Being able to do the whole act at once is an improvement, but the quality of the content is just miserably, and offensively bad. People paid money to access this, and yet there's 15 minutes of recycled story, with a pointless, boring grind. When you manage to lose your entire veteran playerbase, that says enough
Hey guys! Remember Mars, Mercury, Titan, Io, and the Tangled Shore? Those fully fleshed out playable areas with Lost Sectors, secrets, and and NPCs? Imagine if they just... USED those assets for more than 3 seconds a year!
They literally could just keep more content around for longer. At least have a rotator of 3 past seasonal activities. Many elements need to be on a daily rotation and imo, nightfalls should ALL be accessible ALL of the time. Every strike on every difficulty at all times, with different weapons dropping in each on a rotator. They have lots of amazing content but the delivery, execution, and availability of it all needs to be given more attention.
PoE is such a letdown. They mentioned it being like the Coil but it's nothing like it. I've played through it one time and was like this is boring and has no loot so I'm out.
@Bum-t9x I did both and wasn't impressed. The coil actually had rounds and you could invest in upgrades between each one. You also were hunting those little collectibles for the best score and PoE is just some lame objectives.
Big agree. Like conceptually, the arenas are good spaces! But the part that is missing that the coil had was after every round, you’ll have a currency you could use to power yourself up for following rounds. To take it another step further, I really liked the season of the Witch, where we were empowering Eris. The use of the tarot cards in that seasonal activities added a flavor of RNG and built on top of everything, giving buffs that could help the whole team while not being guaranteed every run because of the RNG nature. Deep dives had something similar, and that’s honestly what I thought tonics were going to be like kind of, where they’d make me want to dive deeper into the seasonal activities, but ehh… I don’t see a point to PoE
@jdjamiso1 this single-handedly has got to be the biggest problem of Tomb of Elders. It has no activity specific loot like PoE. How could they not do a House of Wolves themed armor or the original PoE weapons. I swear people freely give Bungie more excuses than any developer in existence
I’d like Eva Levante to have her shop back in the tower with weekly quests to get old removed raid shaders , iron banner and even D1 shaders and armour pieces like Xur & his strange coins
ive stated many times, if they actually innovated, the game would improve. The vault has so much oppurtunity to not only bring older players back, but give so much context to the original saga. If they unvaulted fan favorite seasonal activities, ramped up the events, and secrets, it would fill the void. Since the Leviathan is still sitting idle on the moon, they could re-do Menagerie, but hosted by Caital to cleanse the Leviathan or simply used as a training grounds for her soldiers and the guardians. Bring back older strikes and campaigns, re-do and re-work the older content to make them fit the most recent version of the game. So if they brought back Red War, they make Gaul more difficult than how we older players expirience them, and perhaps give players a Gaul themed armor and weapons for completing said reworked campaign. Re-work the Destinations UI, have it as a list to scroll up and down on, instead of the clustered mess it is now, select a planet, then the maps slides into fray. Making returning and New destinations fit with ease. Make Destinations playable again, instead of giving nothing but glimmer.
all this is so true, maybe then you can actually recommend the game too a new player. and he wont be so overwhelmed to the point of quitting. they can just play through red war-final shape.
To answer the question about the Destiny 2 team size, it has been confirmed by Bungie that about 40% of their resources are currently going towards Destiny while the other 60% are going into marathon.
Jesus , bungie might honestly get closed down if marathon flops or atleast a lot of layoffs again , and the chances that marathon fails is pretty large at the moment
I wish bungie would do an overhaul on deepsight crafting, and how you get them instead of dropping the harmonizers in a season pass and are limited to one or two new craftable weapons per season
What we need is two warmind's / curse of Osiris's every year. 3 to 4 hour stories with lots of side content and stuff to do with some mid-content-drop mini content drop
they have actually said thats exactly what is happening. There are having 2 dlc per year with a season attached to each one, but there will be a total of 2 major updates per season, so four in total each year
Never thought I’d see the day when people long for “two tokens and a blue”. While Echoes lacked a robust story, we got way more replayable content than Warmind or Curse
The issue is the amount of content compared to what they claim they want to make, an ARPG. What we get are 9 step quests, with 3 to 4 quests that are dialogue heavy instead of action heavy. Dialogue is great for telling a story, but it's terrible for keeping the player engaged. If we need to have dialogue heavy quests, then we need motion and acting. A static hologram or a simple shrug doesn't tell the tale. The one scene I constantly think back to in The Final Shape is when Zavala finally reunites with Cayde. It's a powerful scene because we see the actors reacting to what's going on. Then looking at this season, the closest we get to that is when we break Eramis out of jail, but Crow is already there waiting for us. Mannequins are suppose to be for cheap jumpscare horror games, not an action game of any kind. That is the quickest thing they can do to make things more interesting if they can't reduce the number of filler quests. The next thing they need to do is innovate on the types of quests. Right now all we have are "Kill. Kill things to get thing. Kill a specific enemy". Why not give us an infiltration style mission where we need to sneak around? Or, a protect the VIP style mission where we have to protect a person (Human or NPC, don't matter) while they do a task? Just something other than "Go to this room and kill before going to the next room and kill, before going to the next next room and kill, before going to the boss room and kill, before getting teleported out and killing your way back in, before killing the boss".
I started to think about the story structure of D2. I think what's missing more than anything is a B plot, or several alternative plots. TV shows don't focus on 1 narrative. This is how you engage audiences without having character burnout. The lore we get in weapons and armor would definitely make engaging B plots if made available either in game or as cinematics. They could be used to for shadow or divert stories, introduce new characters or subvert expectations.
I kinda stopped playing as much as I used to during episode because it feels like their “gimmicks” for that season are pointless since they’ll leave after a few weeks so I don’t bother with them. Like the potions for this season feel so pointless, I’ve only used them for the quests and that’s it, I don’t touch them at all. It’s not like they’re going to stay and it just feels like busy work when I’m interacting with them. I wish they actually added things that were going to stay in destiny longer than a few weeks
We just need better development overall. Doesn’t bother me if it’s weekly or all in one go. The current model only shows how little content we always got now that the bloat steps have been removed. The problem is internal. They can make great content. However it is clear that there is a problem with their staffing and management. Maybe they should start making games we want to play again. Or is that too offensive to the current team 😂
they mentioned something about rogue-like and ToE being similar to Coil and I just don't see either of those while playing through it 😭 the rewards aren't as enticing either. I used to do Coil almost solely for ascendant shards towards the end of the season yet ToE I feel no real incentive to go in. just kinda fell flat for me
@mothmarx398 I am happy for you who still can do raids with players you trust. That is no longer the case for me as my clan has pretty much moved on with their lives even before TFS. I've seen too many clips of players getting booted out just before the end of activity loot chest to even trust the Fireteam Finder. So for me, I am pretty much stuck to solo activities.
@@mothmarx398 I'm happy for you who still get to raid with players you trust. However in my case, my clan mostly moved on with their lives even before TFS. I've seen too many videos of players getting kicked out by Fireteam Finder randos just before the end-of-activity loot drops to trust that feature by Bungie. So for me I'm mostly a solo player now and being able to craft this season's upcoming stasis scout rifle would mean a lot to me.
Yeah but being able to craft EVERYTHING is not good. Whats the point in giving weapons multiple perks if the same 4 get put on basically everything? I agree that crafting shouldn’t be removed completely but im not upset that this seasons weapons arent craftable when GoS weapons are and got fresh perk pools
It's the avengers endgame effect. We had a decent story with a satisfying conclusion and now they're trying to piece together stories to build off of the conclusion/start the next arc and they've essentially written themselves into a hole. Bungie themselves has always known that this is something that they could totally have happen to them which is why they've made it a point to never over deliver on anything in the game including the story because every time that they over deliver on even the story we get a ton of lackluster story for a while after like they're trying to re-lower our expectations or something. Hopefully they'll be able to pick up and start a new arc successfully soon
Honestly the problems with the Episode content to me is Two Fold: 1) it just show how badly Bungie is going to Under Deliver on content in a vain attempt to keep customer expectations in check to minimize the content creation investment and 2) the content is too short for the stories their devs are trying to tell. If they let their devs just tell the story there wouldn't be a content shortage in the episodic content model because the stories would be properly fleshed out. So to me the solution is for Bungie to stop with the under delivery mindset and just let their writers cook for once.
Honestly, this was going to be major issue following The Final Shape. The Final Shape was the culmination of the 10 year journey, and a final fight against an ultimate enemy of the franchise within the god-likw entity representing said franchise. While I wish BUNGIE did reveal more lore details regarding the nature of the Traveler, Veil, Gardener, and Winnower...the expansion's story and conclusion did overall bring a satisfaction resolution (especially with the introduction and mastery of Prismatic). The problem is now following up with compelling story and gameplay after said conclusion. What transpired in The Pale Heart is the pinnacle of "Become Legend." Along with what the end of the "Light & Darkness" saga means. As it has been established, the Light and Darkness are fundamental, paracausal aspects of reality from which all other things are derived from. Not only that, but there are still major mysteries in this saga that haven't been given closure yet. Beyond that is the fact that there is now a smaller team with few vets. While I feel bad to a degree, another issue arose in that BUNGIE was too spread out on all these different incubation projects when Destiny and Marathon should've had all hands on deck...especially for the former as it was basically keeping them afloat. Especially with how difficult live-service games are to make, maintain, and keep players engaged.
I agree. They seem to be struggling since the Final Shape was dropped. That would have been a great time to end Destiny 2 and make Destiny 3 with a whole new story and characters, they missed an amazing opportunity IMO.
1. Fix all the bugs before doing anything new. 2. Secrets in the world to find. Hidden lore, weapons, chests, high value targets, rare spawns that drop unique loot, ie 5/5 fully masterworked god roll. 3. Bring back all the expansions and zones to play through. We bought it gives us what we bought again. 4. Allow us to play through all previous season passes and content. So if someone missed a season and story can still play through it and of i dont know, know what the fuck is going on. 5. Have side stories on side characters mentioned in the lore, like shin malphor, etc that we can play through. 6. Give side missions to play through major lore events, like the collapse etc. 7. Give us world events, like major bosses that need alot of gaurdians to fight that spawn in the world and get good loot when killed, ie alot of exotic materials, exotic loot, doesnt have ti be weapons like sparrows, ships, shaders. Just some thoughts.
I’d like to see more truly unique weapon variants that aren’t exotics but have their own unique niche. For example; how the BXR has the unique intrinsic Legacy PR-55 weapon frame. More Legendary weapons that have unique intrinsic traits that fit their own little niches would give new and old players specific reasons to grind for what they desire most
Something I would dearly like to see established into the seasonal gameplay is using patrol zones in a similar vein to expansions. Let me actually wander around the setting to get to objectives. De-sunset places, let me actually walk around Mars or Titan. Even better, it would be excellent to see, for instance, if Oryx's dreadnaught was brought in next episode in a similar fashion to how the Leviathan was used for Season of the Haunted. Making the setting at large more interactable as opposed to just constantly tabbing to Destinations and clicking on the helm for every quest is certainly one step forward in the right direction, in my opinion.
It would be pretty cool if they added Legend/advanced/master Patrol zones as well. It’s hard to enjoy patrolling when the Guardian just stream rolls everything. You can’t even get the feel for builds and all their caveats in the Patrol zones as they are now
The real problem i have with the game right now is that the narrative sucks badly. We were told we'd get access to 6 weeks of content in one go. Bro, i did 6 weeks of content in 1 hour. Care to explain how they were suppose to spread that on 6 weeks??????????
Bungie's decision to reveal the episodes so late in time made me never get into the game since I played the first part of revenant, I got lost and didn't even understand what I was playing, I felt like I was skipping important parts, it's very sad so many bad decisions, it seems on purpose.
The lore is usually not the problem, it's the delivery. They are currently with Episodes delivering the same amount of content that we had over two weeks before (during seasons), and the acts are way longer than a season. I would have liked to see... * a bit more open world, so you can move across the world however you'd like. * a slower gameplay (more story with 48 hours gameplay unless you're rushing through, slower leveling, and more side quests in the open world). With this maybe release the first dungeon after a month, and raid after 3-6 months, and release the full story for a year. * that if acts would stay, to have a start and a ending. Not leave things open like they are now. * them not removing old story content. Just like WoW where you can play the story from the beginning, or jump to current release. PvP available from start if you're not interested in PvE. * Endgame content locked behind paywall (Trials and Raids), so less cheaters are around. * Better anti-cheat, since some cheats should be so easy to detect. For example, if you shoot quicker than the max fire rate of the weapon, moved through a solid object, and so on. This could probably be written better, but these are some of my thoughts.
Once I finished the pale heart stuff I never touched it again only to change exotic perks🤣 , not even to farm exotic class items. I just wait for double loot and double xp GMs and Zur class item week. **Chefs kiss**
I feel like we get about the same story content than in a season, except it's drawn on longer. We need more stuff happening in each act so they don't feel so short !
I would personally like to see more secret quests, rewards could be, emblems, shaders, exotics. It doesn’t always have to be big. I also agree with secret legendary weapons too. I think we need a balance of Themed weapons. Make a few more. Give half of them us as craftable weapons, and half of them as grindable activity rewards. I also think that nightfall weapons need an update. Keep the normal weapons in the rotation. But i feel every strike, should have a rarer drop for a “boss themed weapon” mindbenders is a perfect example. But maybe shift it to something other than Fikrul this time… give the bosses something thats a memorable reward. Make the drop low. Make the role static, but make it unique. Make it something akin to old school Lunas and NF. Not quite as broken, but somewhere between the power of an exotic weapon and a legendary. The important thing is that it’s unique. It would even be cool if each of these had an origin trait that was similar to one of the abilities that the boss had that it came from. I think if were going to continue this episodic model, I think each act should have something new to bring to the table. A new strike weapon I think would be an amazing addition, even if it’s just reskinned content for an act 2 addition. Cus im kinda sick of waiting for the new exotic mission in act 3, for all of act 2.
If its quarterly release for episodes, then they should take a page out of Remnant 2's new DLC releases. Since the scale of Destiny DLC's are larger, episodes now resemble the timeline of Remnants DLC releases quarterly. Stand alone stories with abiut 3 to 4 hours of content.
Literally if it just coil 1.5 give the same loot at least upgrade materials (shards, ascendant alloy/shard, prisms, or like even light motes if you still need them for prismatic) or give us a strike back per episode that is updated or worked into the story and will atleast be around after these seasons are over (not battlegrounds)
Bungie should do what they used to do, and provide an excellent story while dropping subtle hints that they is something greater behind it all. Right now, the new dungeon is the biggest question we have right now- what the hell is on the other side of that portal/what is puppeting atraks dead exo corpse/what is that energy radiating from the portal? Those questions have so much potential but my personal issue with it is if it had anything to do with the echo? Was its power (the anomalous energy from the portal) an interest to fikrul? What relevance did it have to the echoborne scorn? Bungie is desperate right now and i think they need guidance
I completely agree that into the light was great with the shiny weapons but I just hope that they dont milk it too much bc it will grow stale just like almost every holiday event.
Story in episodes isn’t hitting at all, because reality is Bungie laid off hundreds of staff so they are putting out the bare minimum content wise. It seems like Bungie wants to limp over the line with tying up a couple of loose ends before frontiers lands.
I love for bungo to stick to their word about console being 120fps in pve as well as pvp. It’s been nearly a year since they announced that. I would also like a GM playlist that plays random GMs. We can’t gain anything extra from it other that weapons/armour but nothing you can grind for. This would clearly be to pass time but you could set yourself personal bests by how many you complete in row? I would also like the artefact mod to stop favouring 2 subclasses and focus more on weapons. I’d like bungo to stop forcing players to suffer through game modes to get a weapon (pvp). Finally, I’d like my money back that I used to pay for dlc that was taken away only to pay for it to come back. Who’s ever idea that was I’d like to see them hand themselves into a police station for daylight robbery on a global scale 😅
I love the aesthetic of this season. Cosmetics are awesome! But the delivery of 4 hours of total game play for the whole season truly feels like wtf, I paid for way more
What we need is: Less Artificial Gatekeeping or dumass increase in Difficulty via Champions. We need more Puzzles/Harder enemies a progression System involving Weapons and Armor. Instead of Giving us 1 Boss per activity give us many bosses and the Sequence of killing determines the Loot. They need to reinstate Weapon crafting. The Missing craftable Weapons from Revenant are a Gut punch and ball drop. We need but that is Confirmed armorset. We need More viable and Strongly adjustable Armors. Cause the Dry humping to gain a Good roll is insane Why would a Titan want 30 mobi on a Piece why would the Average Hunter want 26 strenght What is a Warlock suppose to do with Discipline since his entire build is focused on Returning nade energy. In Terms of Story: What happend to Xivu Arath? What will the Cabal do now? Will we fight together to retake Torobatl? Are all Pyramids now gone or are they still there and maybe even still active? The witness was OUR big Bad. But what about the One he served? Where is the Traveler actually from. Will his Creators retake it sometime soon? Why are there still Sunjugators and Grims alive after the Witnesses Demise? Is Nezarec now actually Immortal for he lives on as long as he is rememberd? What did Shin malphur do all this time and why haven't we met. If an Ahamkara can bring people back(Cayde) might that be possible for the Speaker or Amanda? We interruptes Oryx's return in the GotD dungeon but will Savathun do the same for lets say Crota? What happend tonthe Upended, residing in Rhulks Pyramid? Is is inactive for ever now? Destroyed? Or just Just waiting to be used again? We have destroyed rivens taken body, made peace with her Ghost and Slayen Savathun why is the Dreaming City not cleansed again?
I'm with you Evaze. Bungie said Episodes was going to give them the flexibility to deliver bigger and better stories than Seasons. It turns out to be less than Seasons, far less! At this point Bungie should either quit while they're ahead or start producing real meaningful content. If they don't, I'm sure Sony is hoping for them to fail and take full control. Maybe a Sony lead Bungie will do actual work. Who knows?
I don't understand why they don't try to tell *one* story over three seasons/episodes instead of 3 short and unsatisfying stories. Take Maya, for example. She's got great presence, her proper introductory cutscene is rather good. Nessus changing slowly is also extremely cool, but it only existing inside missions was a letdown. Now instead of having us run the bass pro pyramid mission 4 times, why not continue her story into episode 2; Say she merged with the Vesper mind and now has control over the Fallen, working the dungeon into the narrative. Actually change nessus in patrol, work her into the reworked strikes. Build her up over 3 seasons and then do a raid with a final confrontation.
In my case destiny stopped being fun when I stopped caring about the crucible, for me the gameplay loop would be, go to activity, get a good weapon/roll, take it to PvP, rinse and repeat, but when PvP is no longer a factor, I don't see a reason to go get a better weapon, add to that the "weapon tunings" where they make a weapon archetype overpowered while nerfing just about everything else to the ground, it makes the crucible stale, you can check IB this week, there are pulse rifles and telestos everywhere. I haven't done any dungeon released after duality, I don't see a reason to, why spend the time and go through the pain of dealing with the ultra elitists in the fire team finder. I don't know man, it's just such an ordeal now for me and I do love the game, but man... 😢
I think these three seasions are a band-aid untill the next expansion... it seems they are going more RPG in their format... I'm willing to bet people will complain about it not being linner enough
Recently I've been playing other games and I can see how well they are handling their stories and how well they are executed, I wish Destiny could do the same
I have all the gear I need. I have more than I will ever use. I don’t think I’m alone with half my vault has never been used. It’s there for a potential new meta that may never come. Tonics are overly complicated with a very short duration. I don’t want to have to reference the artifact on that character to see what tonics would be useful for the current build. Last season they tied the end into the exotic mission. It was the first one I didn’t finish. I’m not sure I’ll finish this episode.
How about this : story of guardians v guardians where there are version of story content. Light guardians face darkness story with guardians being corrupted. Other side of story is darkness guardians story content of them having to stop light side guardians from fulfilling the mission. Each side can only use either light powers or darkness. 2 stories told from different views. Each class can only be 1 of either light or darkness. Different weapons obtained from each version. But it doesn’t have to end in 1 week because of the raid. The raid is at the end of the season as alt ending only. Level cap is nonexistent and the stronger a guardian gets the harder the enemies.
episodes could be better, i agree, but instead of wanting more, look at what we get. we have 3 episodes that lay out (potentially) 3 major plot lines for the franchise for years to come (ironic to think about when one of the complaints is that bungie doesn’t have things planned, maybe they do and people dont see it cause they want it easy to understand). i do agree that we should get stuff to do in between releases, more real fun activities to do in locations post campaign etc. but dont ask them to conclude plot lines in episodes to then complain about not having anything to look forward in the future, maya is obviously coming back later, if we ended her story in echos that’s one less thing to do in the future.
I think when it comes to these unfinished story beats bungie is trying to set up future events so like the whole idea with Mia Sunderish AKA The Conductor disappearing into the Radiolarian Fluid i think bungie wanted to create a new "Big Bad" for the destiny universe and this unfinished story will probably be concluded in the future.
The story feels like I have to go around picking up breadcrumbs to figure it out now. The back and forth in social areas for seemingly no reason is terrible design, and leveling now for end game content is a boring experience.
Instead of seasonal activities they should just fully revamp open world activities and make those seasonal. Like guild wars open world farms if you know what i mean.
I'd like to see a raid that they've been working on because xivu arath is soooooo important and a huge part of destiny. They better do her right cause i swear to god the amount of build up better be good
they have already said that episodes arent being done again, soooo whats the point of this video? They are having 1 season per dlc next year with a total of four major updates. Also, what happened to letting them build mysteries? it seems like everyone wants answers to everything they show immediately and we aren't allowed to actually have mystery anymore
While I don't like how short each act feels, I do like that it's all there up front. I've been taking this game way too seriously and being able to finish the highlights of the act early on makes it much easier to play casually. I can do the story and new activities in the first week then just go to a different game for a while. It didn't even take me a week to finish the 50 levels in the pass either. Yeah it's because I saved some of the seasonal triumphs for xp, but that also needs some rework I think. Once you max out a given act there's just no reason to turn those in. Why not hoard them? It'd be nice if there was at least a looping part of it at the end like LoL events with seasonal weapon drops or something. Maybe even some high-stat seasonal armor and not the crap 50 stat rolls I've been getting...
Going free to play with a seasonal model was what damned Destiny. No content will ever come close to being “good” content when the devs making it know it will be deleted from the game in less than a year…
Also, having the Pale Heart as a fully private experience killed the destination entirely. As you stated, there’s no reason to go back. It doesn’t feel empty, but it’s not fun going in alone and doing the same thing over and over again by yourself. They should’ve had a toggle on whether you want a private experience or not. I guarantee you if this was an option, I’d be farming wave after wave of the public events in the pale heart, getting class items and swords alike with random players by my side.
what would have been a better idea is when tomb of elders came in, would have been to have a vendor you visit and trade a currency related to tomb of elders for weapons that dropped during season of the hunt that have been updated with extra traits or new ability/perk all together(have crow reward you). the major issue here is we already have dares of eternity but no Prison of Elders. Tomb of Elders is lesser than both in quality. How do i know this? I am still playing Prison of Elders in d1. It is still far more engaging than Tomb Of Elders. considering raids return constantly the excuse of lore requirements for content drops is an utter lie since we have a legacy tab.
their are a million players that return to D1 yearly on ps3 alone(not even counting xbox one or ps4/ps5) and we're all playing prison of elders still because its actually challenging and engaging. from the music to the announcer, the loot the scenery the lighting. D2 needed this not what we have now. they should have done both but they had no intention of adding new weapons and armor to the event so that is why i assume POE did not happen.
IMO they need to go back to the week by week format. Releasing everything all at once kills any pacing and feels like you’re really not doing anything at all
PoE should have had better loot rolls for gaining Warden’s favor. Warden x2 has two perks in each column and x3 has 3. Also it’s too easy and the bosses all feel the same.
Having to lay new groundwork is understandable, it’s just that the questions and groundwork is inherently uninteresting outside of the dungeon’s mysterious signal. None of this heavily shakes up the setting in any significant way, nothing to turn the setting upside down. It’s all just more of the same throwaway villains and plot points. Meh.
weekly story is bad. but the change to all at once shows me how poor the effort was...its like a panic release. Would be cool if fikky is gettin some dark avengers together if we get to sundial and grab some amazing dead guardians to counter. Ultimately we need srl permanently.
The main talent the composed and wrote the final shape isn't at bungie anymore. also as far as the story goes; I'm thinking Maya, fikrul, and xivu are being introduced in their seasons to back as raid bosses with nezarek as the new big bad
When they announced that this was going to be a vampire theme episode I was so excited and I thought that we’re going to have a big castle where fikrul is waiting for us una type like castlevania
Honestly, I am not hungry for more new content. The game has enough, and Bungie needs to spend the time to bring back all the content they have removed so that the game world can evolve over time like it did with D1 when you completed missions or found new guardians for the tower. In reality, there is too much wrong with the game as a whole to place the blame purely on episodic content right now.
How would you improve the story moving forward with the roadmap?
id like Crimson days back the Haunted forest and srl lets bring back good events the Haunted lost sectors are boring
You know its bad when the LORE guy is even picking apart the episodes and their format
I would take this video with a pinch of salt the lore guy could be worried about their views every week when content is drip fed every week. What makes you think splitting up 45 mins of story into 6 weeks will make it better?
@@vishnuprabhut both formats are bad.
*seasons.*
I said it the moment they announced episodes:
"This sounds like seasons with the content drought spaced out."
Sure enough, that's exactly what it is.
RNG can really bend you over
B. Red borders aren't guaranteed
Thats why me and many are just going back to d1
@@Drifter4804 genuinely delusional.... the loot system in rhat game is so outdated
When you manage to lose your entire veteran playerbase, that says enough
this. I'm a lore nerd, I have all the books and this feels like a return to curse of Osiris for me
@@coreyevans5734 curse of Osiris was better
Wait did you do contest of elders or prison of elders cause prison of elders is the shitty one and the actually good one is contest of elders
@@Synnota exactly. These objectives are like kill some stuff and then flip switches 😴
Source? You better not be making it up.
I don't need marathon. We need DESTINY to continue. SIVA, VEX origins, 6 missing planets, the heck with NINE... so many stories untold!
@@stevem.9340 It was either Paul Tassi or Jason Schrier that released the info, can't remember which.
@@Bum-t9x Good.
I wish bungie would do an overhaul on deepsight crafting, and how you get them instead of dropping the harmonizers in a season pass and are limited to one or two new craftable weapons per season
This was bound to be the case after final shape
On the timeline, we're back to D1 vanilla, 10 years before the "biggest baddy" is defeated
What we need is two warmind's / curse of Osiris's every year. 3 to 4 hour stories with lots of side content and stuff to do with some mid-content-drop mini content drop
That's wayyyy too much work. They will never do that unfortunately bc that's too much money for pete parsons to spend
It's like he woke up out of a deep sleep and missed the last 2/3 years lol@@connort4712
they have actually said thats exactly what is happening. There are having 2 dlc per year with a season attached to each one, but there will be a total of 2 major updates per season, so four in total each year
Those expansions sucked too.
Never thought I’d see the day when people long for “two tokens and a blue”. While Echoes lacked a robust story, we got way more replayable content than Warmind or Curse
I honestly didn't even know this was supposed to be a Vampire Hunter season until you said it. I thought Slayer Barons were just their own thing.
I used to do Coil almost solely for ascendant shards towards the end of the season yet ToE I feel no real incentive to go in. just kinda fell flat for me
We're getting a fresh batch of Deepsight Harmonizers this season but with no new red borders. So uh... maybe reinstate craftable seasonal guns?
Yes yes yes yes
Garden of Salvation are all newly craftable and have updated perk pools. So they did give us new craftable weapons
@mothmarx398 mate, everyone's aware of the raid weapons. It's the seasonal content which is accessible to everyone that is the issue
If i could atleast craft the weapons i could chase the patterns. I actually resent Bungie for removing seasonal crafting
Not to mention the designs on some exotics were changed like not even the buffs but the designs like vamp bracers they no longer have the claw design.
Wish list: your Transcendance meter should fill when you Rally to the Flag
What transpired in The Pale Heart is the pinnacle of "Become Legend."
Along with what the end of the "Light & Darkness" saga means.
They need to stop lore tabbing storybeats
You can’t even get the feel for builds and all their caveats in the Patrol zones as they are now
Where the hell is the Rosetta stone for the language of the dread? They literally advertised that and it's in the lore for the raid exotic.
I think this model just failed. And in every video they do before this stuff is released the overhype it
7:48 When you said "secret moments" you reminded me of the telesto event that was driving alot of ppl crazy"
I agree with him on the story’s are not that bad it’s just missing that emotion
3:23 This shit happens way too much. It’s annoying that practically everything counts as a projectile.
Im glad somebody caught on to that..kuz it definitely do happens alot in this episode
What if we get a dungeon pantheon mode? I feel like that'd be fun, with it having the dungeon exotics as a reward
Once I finished the pale heart stuff I never touched it again only to change exotic perks🤣 , not even to farm exotic class items. I just wait for double loot and double xp GMs and Zur class item week. **Chefs kiss**
Echoes felt more like a fanfic about Osiris and Saint's relationship than anything else.
It's not great, but it's also only $15 per episode, or $5 per act. We're not paying for great story right now.
I just want them to stop making things so ambiguous. like unlocking certain exotic weapons.
11:36 dude I’ve been looking for that feather forever!! Ty!

I feel your pain 😢
I think these three seasions are a band-aid untill the next expansion... it seems they are going more RPG in their format...
I'm willing to bet people will complain about it not being linner enough
Recently I've been playing other games and I can see how well they are handling their stories and how well they are executed, I wish Destiny could do the same
I remember more from lightfall's story than I do these episodes
I would like to see permanent environment changes in patrol zones
Well for one thing. Erims is NOT FREE. Even after you release her, later she is back in the cell and just stays there.
I think Bungie needs to bring back cut content...
I dont see future content being good ether. The writing lately is bad outside the light/dark saga.
I mean, it doesn’t help that nothing’s really happening on the surface this episode. They really have nothing here.
To me, episodes were a kind of breather after TFS, while Bungie worked on whatever was next. Seems that way in execution as well.
Bungie hasn’t done anything big since giving us the first darkness subclass.
episodes could be better, i agree, but instead of wanting more, look at what we get. we have 3 episodes that lay out (potentially) 3 major plot lines for the franchise for years to come (ironic to think about when one of the complaints is that bungie doesn’t have things planned, maybe they do and people dont see it cause they want it easy to understand). i do agree that we should get stuff to do in between releases, more real fun activities to do in locations post campaign etc. but dont ask them to conclude plot lines in episodes to then complain about not having anything to look forward in the future, maya is obviously coming back later, if we ended her story in echos that’s one less thing to do in the future.
The new big bad is already there. I just wish they would execute things better instead of hitting a damn exo with a Nova bomb
@@anosvoldigoad3021 lol
I miss the spider bounties. That would of been perfect for episode 2!
The story feels like I have to go around picking up breadcrumbs to figure it out now. The back and forth in social areas for seemingly no reason is terrible design, and leveling now for end game content is a boring experience.
They need to drop support for older consoles. They’re holding the game back. With frontiers, it needs to be PS5 and series x|s only
Would love to see destination public raid type events and maybe more dynamic environments
6:57 yes I do play enigma protocol. Those double perk dawn weapons are VERY good. Best in slot even.
Instead of seasonal activities they should just fully revamp open world activities and make those seasonal. Like guild wars open world farms if you know what i mean.
I’ve always wanted Destiny 2 to be more like an MMO vs a Looter Shooter.
Not sure if anyone thinks the same.
Releasing everything all at once kills any pacing and feels like you’re really not doing anything at all
Where’s the loot? Is my big question. What am I playing for?
Ultimately we need srl permanently.
unfortunately since june has been the most fun over ever had with destiny ever i can’t stop playing and im actually addicted to
SRL would be a good start.
Maybe bungie could look at how they did things in the past, like D1 and Red War!
The main talent the composed and wrote the final shape isn't at bungie anymore. also as far as the story goes; I'm thinking Maya, fikrul, and xivu are being introduced in their seasons to back as raid bosses with nezarek as the new big bad
Wishlist make a 3rd subclass with 2 supers( one roaming and one off super) and 1 can be in prismatic
They wouldn't want to overdeliver and make the players happy, now, would they
This is the thinking man's channel
When they announced that this was going to be a vampire theme episode I was so excited and I thought that we’re going to have a big castle where fikrul is waiting for us una type like castlevania
Just give me pantheon and keep it fresh every season/episode and I’ll be happy. For a little while anyway.
I don't know what do I want from destiny 2 to change the game. I doubt any of you do.
