- Two horns enter heroically in 'Darzu ist erschienen der Sohn Gottes', performed by the Netherlands Bach Society for All of Bach. The Son of God has appeared and conquered the devil. The triumphant flourish is reminiscent of the equally joyful trumpets in the first cantata of the Christmas Oratorio. The choir enter in unison, followed by a fugue, and then the piece ends homophonically again.

Yes they are. The 1st chorus is made of such stuff that on an early listen I had to pull my car to the side of the road before I had an accident, such was my excitement at the point of the concluding bars. Glory in music such as only Handel can also claim.
Wolfgang1782 Perhaps you should avoid listening in your car! Yes that chorus “Dazu ist erschienen Det Sohn Gottes” is breathtaking, like hundreds of others in Bach’s cantatas output!! Be grateful you live in the afterbach era, not the prebach era!

Netherlands Bach Society has been my solace and uplift during the lockdown. I live in New York City where concerts and theater have been shutdown seemingly indefinitely. I weep for all the wonderful musicians around the world who have been largely silenced but am grateful to have these amazing recordings to feed my soul.
I do not understand a word of the language but the sheer beauty, joy & unbelievable feeling of love & clarity of each vocal syllable & musical note ii mind boggling, absorbing all sorrow from my soul. And yes I absolutely agree with the comment that the tenor & for that matter all the singers are living Angel's.

Commitment. That single word sums up the glory of these musicians, giving their all to this music. And the videography is no less superb. As a musician, it feels like I'm seated right in this ensemble. What an achievement. This whole collection of videos is unlike anything I've ever before heard and seen in music. Thank you!

Incredibly beautiful and technically assured performance, reminding us that, even in these troubled times, there are extraordinary artistic consolations. Beautiful solo singing: Daniel Johannsen has one of Bach's most terrifying arias describing Christian joy (in very many notes). Matthew Brook is a great slayer of hellish serpents. Worth remembering that these great Bach ensembles of our time make all this available free. Profound thanks to all!

Although no way and under no circumstnaces the magnificent work of Netherlands Bach Society can be brought under the slightest optic of any kind of critical perspective, it is only by chance that this object of my comments falls under you, and so, merely by chance. What has happened to the old contraltos of the universe. Have they all gone on welfare? Heve they being given an Al Pacino style, as in the movie The Godfather, an offer they can't refuse? I am an absolutely amateurish fan of music, but I love the contralto voice, Recently I hardly find any video where the original contralto parts are not done by counter tenors, and countertenors are amazing and have given a long overdue new meening to what human rights should be about, and even more than that. But; Where have all the contraltos gone?

These are always such great performances that make me want to talk to the wind players about their instruments. That bassoon bell has such THICK walls compared to a modern horn. How different does that feel?!

Really beautiful, many musical effects and colors I really loved and the technical aspect is extraordinary from everyone. Of all the different baroque ensembles in the world, I favor the wind players in this ensemble a lot of times. As a listening experience, I unfortunately didn't really get the same cantata atmosphere here, compared to the other videos; it was a bit overall stressed to my liking, with the tempo, dynamic balance and time/flow between movements
The final choral is very unique among Bach's works because it is filled with parallel fifths. You can hear them at the end of most phrases in the anticipation note in the soprano in the "perfect" cadences.

When will you be doing BWV 91? For me, Netherlands Bach Society performances are the best interpretations of Bach's cantatas.

Da hat der Meister im Choral ja die Melodie von "Seid froh..." aus dem W.O. verwandt. Nun, das kennen wir von Bach.

So think about this exchange, if you are able to conceive it; the King becomes submissive, the Lord appears as a servant and to console the human race (oh, sweet word to every ear) is born as a Saviour.
Sin leads to suffering; Christ brings the joy, because He came to the world to console us. God is with us now in need: who can condemn us Christians?
Hellish snake, aren't you afraid? The one who will win by crushing your head now is born and those who where lost will be rewarded with an endless peace.
The snake that in the Paradise injected its poison in all the sons of Adam is no more a danger for us; the lineage of women has manifested itself, the Saviour became flesh and removed the poison from him. So console yourselves, afflicted sinners!
Shake your head and say: get away, ancient snake! Why do you want to renew your bite and cause me fear and anguish? Your head was crushed and through the Passion of my Saviour I flee for you to the place of joy.
Sons of Christ, rejoy! If the hellish kingdom is unleashed, if the fury of Satan wants to scare you: Jesus, who brings salvation, takes care of His chicks and protects them by covering them with His wing.
Jesus, continue to protect with Thy grace those who are Thy members; grant whatever you can ask to comfort Thy brothers; give all the Christians the peace and a blessed year. Joy, joy upon joy! Christ deliver us from every suffering. Delight, delight on delight! He's the sun of the grace.

테너 아리아에서 호른 파트를 많이 단순하게 했네요. 내추럴 악기를 고집하지 말고 밸브 호른을 써서 연주하는 게 좋을 것 같습니다. 음악의 연주 가치는 형식적인 고증이 아닌 범시대적 표현의 자유에서 더 빛나지 않을까요?
