I know I’m repeating myself - yet again(!!) - and I can image a lot of long-lasting, heartfelt and sincere fans of the Bachstiftung - unter der Leitung von maestro Lutz - feel the same way : Wow! What a technically exquisite and equally astonishingly moving performance ! There really isn’t one hiccup in this entire cycle of utter beauty !! A standing ovation for all these utterly talented performers … as well as three cheers for the amazing sound engineers, bringing us this perfection in an amazing technical quality !!
The more the soloists hold back the vibrato the more the beauty of the sonority allowed to come through. Though on occasion it is being used successfully as an embellishment.
Another big thank you from Melbourne! What a magical moment Bach creates in the opening chorus, with the recorders, echoed by the oboes then the strings, underpinned by the continuo, and including a couple of glorious crescendos. It just captured me. The soprano aria with the solo recorder was another wonderful movement. Thanks to Rudi and all the musicians.
Bravo and heartfelt thank you to the entire ensemble led by their indefatigable conductor for this wonderful performance of this fantastic Bach Cantata.
I HAVE TO add my accolades to those who have already commented. Maestro Lutz has managed to bring a sinse of solace and joy to my sometimes lonely existence. What a wonderful combination of musicianship, and all at a perfect pace. Beautiful. Thank you!
Herzlichen Dank, Herr Lutz.
wow in my opinion one of the greatest cantatas. How about you made interviews with the choir singers? We have been watching familiar faces through all these years wonder their opinions about the music of J.S. Bach. It will be fun to watch those videos like some other channels do.
I agree with @lordchameleon2650. I too have been watching instrumentalists and singers through the years. I'd be interested in hearing their thoughts about performing so much Bach. To play Bach well is difficult, to play Bach musically is even more so.
over the years with my classical guitar studies, I play more and more Bach. I try to mix in modern works like the Britten Nocturnal and others, but always go back to the Bach. There is a reward when one plays Bach. You do not need to recognize it on the page, one can easily see it in these Bachstiftung videos on the faces of the performers.
As fine as the entire performance is, I can't give enough superlatives about the soprano Ulrike Hofbauer. That aria sits high, with several difficult entrances, and the sparse accompaniment leaves the singer exposed. As with almost all Bach cantata arias for soprano, it was written for a boy. She keeps that sense of it, never adding much vibrato, but gives it a maturity and beauty I've never heard before. Brava!
Thank you for this magic therapy during a break. Facility in mastery of counterpoint is organic and overall balance is beautiful. Greetings from Ukraine
Bravo Bach! hermoso coro.
From my comment on the opening section to this cantata: Wonderful interpretation. If anyone is interested, I recommend comparing with Herreweghe's and Rilling's renditions of the opening chorus of this cantata, as they all sound quite different. As expected, Herreweghe's version has a stunning sound quality. The opening section is rather slow, but this allows the music to truly 'open up' during the second ("So du einen") and third ("Alsdenn wird dein") sections. I must admit I am biased toward Herreweghe, but I was still very happy to discover Lutz's version, which is also beautiful. The music truly takes a flight at 5:46. By contrast, Rilling's version is significantly faster from the outset. I never really know what to make of his cantatas - at worst they can sound a bit robotic, but sometimes I can appreciate his uncompromising intensity. Rilling's version is much more forceful: compare the start of the "So du einen nacket siehest" in Lutz/Herreweghe and Rilling. Interestingly, Rilling does not change the tempo here, saving this instead for the "Alsdenn" part (although the tempo change is minor compared to Lutz's rendition).
Just have a look at the dates of our concerts and join us. We would be deligthed to have you! Here is the link: www.bachstiftung.ch/en/concerts-tickets/upcoming-concerts/
Schade....
That was because this is a uniquely prayerful ensemble. They are interpreting the divine words in the text rather than making a 'musical performance' to please. If you did not understand that, you understood little! What's amazing is that Bach can wreak so much with so little, almost a miracle of the loaves and fishes in itself. Even the unison number, which is musically bald, is there for a reason: to make us yearn for the closing Chorale - and to love it the more when it comes!
The idea behind it: to graphically represent the polyphony of Bach's music. If you don't like that, just watch the videos or listen to the recordings without looking at the idiosyncratic titles.
@@konrad.bach4ever you listen to bach and find this poor and unimaginative "representation" satisfying? also your advice just to listen should have been adressed to thes design morons...
The aria for alto, violin and basoon is a beautiful lullaby... This man is absolutely impossible... Thanks, Bach.
Exactly what music should be - and very rarely - can be!

Merveilleux solistes ! Merveilleux instrumentistes ! Merveilleux choeur ! Merveilleux Chef ! *Vielen Dank Herr Lutz für diese schöne Teilung!*
Bach pour toujours !
This one was completely new to me and what a revelation it is!
As a teenager, this was the very first cantata by J S Bach that I every heard. Still one of my favourites.
The more the soloists hold back the vibrato the more the beauty of the sonority allowed to come through. Though on occasion it is being used successfully as an embellishment.

I think this is almost greater than the Passions even.
My uncle is a priest - and the figuration perfectly captures the Act of Communion - the literal breaking of bread.
Schöne Grüße aus Brasilien!

Bravissimi !!!

Wonderful stuff. Bravo to J S Bach and to the performers in such a fine rendering of such magnificent music

Absolutely wonderful., what a gripping, uplifting performance. A big Thank You from the South Island of New Zealand!

13:30 : The bass line on the bass aria is just fantastic and perfectly executed, with sound, rhythm and energy.
Bach, un génie porté par Dieu...
Wunderbar!!
Remarquable. Un très grand merci !
Perfect voice concerto!
Fantastisch!!! Wunderbar musiziert, vielen Dank dafür!
Toujours très beau, merci Bachstiftung
An excellent performance by all as always. I do enjoy how generous Herr Lutz is in acknowledging all of the performers at the end of the work.
That's a normal practice in Europe
Excelente
Danke!
Bellisima, as always. Danke schon...

16:21 Aria (soprano) - Höchster, was ich habe,.... This voice sounds so pure comely and beautiful... well done lady!!
Bravissimi tutti, ed eccellente Delphine!

Sublime. Pure essence.
Thank you!
Fabulous recording, but oh, to be upstaged by a bunch of flowers !!!!!!!!!
20:42 perfection in this Alto aria. Why Switzerland has so many great Alto’s remains a mystery;
Ms. Delphine Galou is French ...😉
Perfektion?
Danke!
Lovely, especially the opening choir: everything is perfect: phrasing, tempo, timbre etc. but also the recording quality has to be mentioned...
Bassoonist!!
What an exquisite performance ?
I presume the ? should be a !

How can I participate in this event? It is my dream to be there 😭🙏

Meraviglioso
Danke!
