I just got a used copy of the 2nd edition at a local board game swap For $5! Pretty excited about that and looking forward to playing it for the first time :). Thanks for the informative video.
Just ordered the first edition. I suppose you could just add six meeples of your own choosing for the merchants on the tower tiles. Excited to play this and thank you for the informative videos. This seems like the ultimate game to customize the pieces for! Either wooden or finding miniature palace pieces online, including walls, etc. just seems like an amazingly fun project to create the ultimate game even though I also love the minimalistic look wich has a charm all of its own which I’m a big fan.
Great, I own this one and it's one of my favorite. But sometimes hard to put on the table cause it's almost an abstract game! Thank's again for the cleaver review
@@BoardGems I was shocked to find an in shrink copy at a local game store and promptly bought it and … mold! I wiped down the pieces and put a silica jell pac In and hopefully that helps
I got a moldy one for a low price (I knew ahead of time it was likely to have mold.) I wiped it down and spread everything out for several days in the bright mile-high Colorado sunshine, and then stored with silicone packs. You can still see a bit of mold residue on the wooden pieces, but there's no smell and I think it's fine. I've played it a lot.
A very nice review - I appreciate the detailed analysis. I'm just about to buy a used copy of this (2nd Ed.) - looking forward to playing it after watching this!! What is the shirt you are wearing (the sort of pixelated earth)?
I'll be going for one day, for sure! The day of the math trade. If you want to connect there and/or play a game, let me know! Or just keep an eye out for me, I'll probably be wearing a Ludica T-shirt. 🙂
Yup, a fair comparison. You feel the same pull in different directions, deciding what to prioritise, based on the other players' actions. Medina is much more of a game of chicken... Well, several games of chicken at once!

I make your words my own.
Thank you @Board Gems.
I played this game once 8 years ago and still think about it every so often, it's that good. Now to track down a copy.
It's also on BGA. Me and some members of the OG Guild on BGG have a rolling asynch game of it. As soon as one ends, we restart. It's a brilliant game.

Banger! One of my all-time favourites. Shame about the mould issues with that one edition
Right, that'd be second edition. I heard about that but my copy didn't have a problem.

Hey Darryl thanks for the video. Lots of us will be coming to Vancouver from Vancouver Island for the upcoming SHUX convention. Will we see you there?

@@BoardGems Awesome! I'll bring my copy of Santiago 😄
Oh man, we LOVE the tea tiles. Towards the end of the game, the ability to pass is huge.
Oh yes it is huge! Too huge a change for my liking. 🙂
A game it reminds me of (with respect to no luck after the set-up) is Through the Desert.

Nice 🙂
I enjoy playing this game on BGA. Too bad mold issues really killed the interest for this game, it was already for a niche audience.
I prefer 2 players game. Because with the neutral color is more tactical.
It seems a bit dry
In more ways than one!
