What an AWESOME review! This gives me hope about it again about buying one. I have hesitated since a number of reviews and cooking demonstrations were "sketchy" results. But YOU did the needed work and stayed on the temps and kept waiting before opening up the lid too early. 🤝 All good cooking essentials for your super success with it. Thank you Chef 🎉 🍽🥠🥂👨🍳
Thanks for the video review...this reminded me I have the OG Outback Oven somewhere. It doesn't come with all these accessories but was nice to have on the trail...nothing like the anticipation of having fresh baked bread or something on the trail. Freeze dried meals are ok...but there is something to smelling your meal coming together.
Awesome Review. Subbed immediatly. Thx a lot for your effort you put in that Video. Looking forward to watch many more. All the best from Austria. Cheers, Mike
That is basically a modern version on cooking in a Dutch oven. It looks pretty cool. I can do all this with my Dutch oven and my adjustable trivets over coals from the campfire. This looks to be a good alternative for using a camp stove instead of a camp fire or hardwood lump charcoal and an old-school Dutch oven. I am biased towards the Dutch oven simply because I love cast-iron cooking for base camping.
It is accualy not a new/modern method of cooking, the Omnia oven has been around for a pretty long time, atleast since the 1940's, maby longer, especially in northern Europe/Scandinavia 🙂
In a fire ban you have to cook with a canister stove only, therefore I bring only the Omnia, even though I car/tent camp is lighter and takes less space. I do like cast iron but is mostly at home.
I'm loving this channel. Curious what your take is on using a wok in the field? I got a 8" wok that for a single person has been handling all my tasks pretty well.
Looks like fun cooking with the Omnia. Liked your twist on pigs in a blanket. I can hear my dad's voice now, "Never put a sharp knife in your mouth." God rest his soul.
As with a slow cooker, cooking time appreciably lengthens by taking lid off as it greatly drops temp and takes a while to increase back to correct temp again.
I'm from NC (and just left WA state; I'm now stationed in AK and you have to head up here, Chef!!). That's not Carolina blue, thank God. 😆 And I do say that as a Duke alum, though my sister went to UNC! (Carolina blue is very close to the blue of the sky - hence the joke, "If God is not a Tar Heel, then why is the sky Carolina blue?") In all seriousness, I love that you reviewed this oven because I've been seriously considering one since I bought my teardrop trailer. Now it's a must have! So thanks!
Of course when you buy the oven you have to buy all the extra inserts that they sent you separately.. so it ends up being quite expensive. But it certainly baked and cooked very well for you.. The muffin tray seems very efficient..and for less fuel.. Maybe that the way to make the brownies or any baked goods apart from a loaf of bread..
With this stovetop oven, you lose all the heat when removing the lid. Preheating actually just wastes your gas! It reaches desired temp in only 3-5 minutes starting from cold!
Thanks for your review, im sure the temp out side air and if your food is ice cold or room temperature will also affect how everything will cook you need to pay attention to the smells and your temperature guid turn up or down to keep heat even
Thanks for the video ... The Omnia Oven looks like something worth trying ... Curious if you've ever come across something like this you could take backpacking?
Very informative video. This is a very cool product and you take the risk for us before we buy - thank you! Not sure if anyone mentioned, but maybe try pre-heating. :-))
I never ever preheat the Omnia and everything has always turned fine, if you have the thermometer you’ll see that as soon as you open the lid to put the ingredients it cools off rapidly, in my opinion, specially camping is a waste of gas.
Can I be your camera girl? I WANT TO TASTE SOME TOO!!! Yummmm. I have the Omnia and even use it at home, easier to clean specially with the silicone insert. Thanks for making me hungry lol.👍🏻
Looks like you are set up for the duration. I have heard of omnias but never seen one, they look a good idea. But would like to see one in the flesh. I am in uk not usa.
I was a bit concerned when you were slicing the ham chef, you didn't have your knuckles folded under on the hand that held the ham. I thought for sure you were going to end up with a slice taken out of your finger.
Please 😢 do not give your dog chocolate. It is very harmful to them. Also any cinnamon. There are other bad things like onions and garlic. Great video otherwise.❤
It takes more chocolate than people realize to cause negative effects in dogs :) Look up the LD50 sometime, and compare that to how much actual chocolate is in a brownie - it's nowhere near that amount. If a dog this size ate the whole pan, that's certainly cause for an ER visit, but a small piece like the dog seems to have received is essentially harmless. To be clear, I'm not advocating for feeding chocolate to dogs, but it's not like giving them antifreeze either.
@@RegrettablyLongwinded Thank you for fine tuning this. For so many years Vets have told us not to feed any chocolate to our dogs. I suppose it’s better in the long run to just tell dog owners no chocolate than to teach each person how to figure out dog weight vs chocolate amount. My long winded contribution, lol. Thanks again for the info.
Thank you for this great review, and hands on use of this interesting road cooking device.
Ive had the original OMTIMUS one since the 80's. My favorite of all my stovetop baking options. Need to ge the new version. Great recipes
The omnia is slightly larger than the original Optimus one, which is nice. But, I like the blue paint on the Optimus better than the red...
Curious if there's be any benefit to adding water to the base container?

Perfect timing for your video. I just bought one at Overland Expo East. Can't wait to try brownies

I got one this summer and tested camping - I give it a thumbs up! Also excited to try your recipes they look yummy!!
It looks like it would be quite a nice oven to have with you. Thank you so much for sharing.

Cheers Mike!
I tried banana bread and blueberry cake using Omnia and we love the result we just need to keep an eye on it so it’s not going to burn .

I have both an Omnia and a Dutch oven - I use both and love both. Which I use depends on what I cook, where I cook, and the weather!
In a fire ban you have to cook with a canister stove only, therefore I bring only the Omnia, even though I car/tent camp is lighter and takes less space. I do like cast iron but is mostly at home.

Welcome aboard RB. Not the most packable option but it can be solid for one person
Looks like fun cooking with the Omnia. Liked your twist on pigs in a blanket. I can hear my dad's voice now, "Never put a sharp knife in your mouth." God rest his soul.
A little advice, don’t use a sharp knife on the silicon liner.

Can't wait to try the raspberry brownies. Match made in heaven-choc and raspberry :)
Great video, I’m wondering how the cleanup was-especially the casserole.
If you use the silicone insert which I always do regardless of what I’m cooking, cleaning is a breeze.
Es una hermosura, ojalá en Argentina pudiera conseguirlo,!!!😢😢😢

You should pre-heat the base plate.
With this stovetop oven, you lose all the heat when removing the lid. Preheating actually just wastes your gas! It reaches desired temp in only 3-5 minutes starting from cold!
It's like a modern version of the dutch oven.
Would it work better to preheat the oven?
I have one and love it I used non stick spray on everything
Thanks for your review, im sure the temp out side air and if your food is ice cold or room temperature will also affect how everything will cook you need to pay attention to the smells and your temperature guid turn up or down to keep heat even
Of course. Small factors like you states will always effect cook time
Thanks for the effort in sharing.
You could stir around the dinner often to get it more evenly cooked faster..
Thanks for the video ... The Omnia Oven looks like something worth trying ... Curious if you've ever come across something like this you could take backpacking?
Not much CT. You can steam bake but that’s about it. It works but uses up quite a bit of fuel
I've seen these before and been tempted. Have you ever tried the Coleman oven? Thanks for the review!
I haven’t but looks like a pretty big piece of equipment
@@ChefCorso I think they fold up pretty small, but I have to imagine it's a fuel hog.
@@farstrider79 yes, a fuel hog is a good description.
I would have put the nachos in the non stick vessel, also I guess you don't need to pre heat that stove , its magic that stove
Where did you get the thermometer
It came with the unit
Omnia oven needs low, wide flame for best results.

I wonder if you could do a meatloaf in that
Sure. You would need to keep the heat low and monitor it so it doesn’t burn on the bottom
Who measures cooking time in Bundt cake?
The "baking rack" is actually a steaming rack
I don't know which came first, the Omnia Oven or the Outback Oven.
Ooo, I see you don't have a video on the (now no longer made) Outback Oven. Pizzas, biscuits, monkey bread -- that was the bomb.
I was a bit concerned when you were slicing the ham chef, you didn't have your knuckles folded under on the hand that held the ham. I thought for sure you were going to end up with a slice taken out of your finger.
I made it through.
I think he's done this before.
so where can one pick up one of these?
Some outdoor shops or their website
Jeff Bezos has a small country store with well paid employees and a caring corporate culture that has them. I think he ships.
Amazon.
I was really interested until reading what it’s made out of. I refuse to cook in aluminum pans
There are silicone liners and a silicone muffin cup set. The aluminum pan issues were debunked years ago.
Great cooking video, but chocolate is poisonous to dogs.
Happy to report Jordan is alive and well
Just a reminder....chocolate can kill dogs. Don't feed that to them. Otherwise great video
How can he be a chef and be this thin!? If I cooked like this....😆
Please 😢 do not give your dog chocolate. It is very harmful to them. Also any cinnamon. There are other bad things like onions and garlic. Great video otherwise.❤
As mentioned by other comments, Jordan is alive and well.
It is extremely dangerous / potentially deadly, to feed anything CHOCOLATE to your DOG!!! 🐶
Thank you Kathleen! I was freaking out when he fed the dog chocolate. Hopefully his dog is ok 🙂

Unsanitary use f kitchen tools. Chocolate for a dog. Putting knife in mouth. Disappointed in this video on a lot of levels
luckily we all survived Sh. Even Jordan
It’s about model you set. Don’t care if you survive. Act a little more responsible for others
