I’ve had one of these for a while now. I keep the temp pretty low. So even though it takes longer to cook, the bottom of the food doesn’t burn. Also, something I learned about on another TH-cam video was to use a simmer / heat diffuser plate. Makes a lot of difference. Happy eating! 😉
I have had one for years in my van. My secret was to heat it up and then turn the flame to as low as it goes. I also cook in the van so I don't have to deal with wind and its cooling effect. It has worked out great for everything including mac/cheese, banana bread, and pizza.
Love the video. Always wondered if this thing works. I wonder if you replace the bottom plate with a cast iron flat pan if that would work…thanks for the video. Looking forward to watch the comparison of the bigger oven. 😊
Thanks for the video. Personally I will stick with my square Coleman oven. I can set it on an open camp fire. It's not too hard to clean with some oven cleaner and some water. It folds down flat for easy storage. I've had the same one for almost 10 years. Also I have a cast iron dutch oven that does very well.
I actually get most the the food off my dishes with some water and scrubbing and then come back with my rag with dish soap in it to get the grease off my dishes, and when I have to wash a lot I will set aside a bowl with water and dish soup off to the side. I am not doing this to save water actually, but it probably dose save a lot of water. One of the reasons I do my dishes in this way is because I have limited space, and enables me to do my dishes and break it up into multiple steps that I can take breaks between if needed. I am actually most often usually able to put my wet dishes aside after I rinse them and transfer them back into the sink when I am done rinsing them to let them drip while I dry them off by hand or let them sit in the sink and air dry if I need a break, and allows me to keep my counters in my small space 100% cleared for other things and allows me to get all the water up that I got everywhere in the process to keep my counters clean and dry because sitting water can cause a lot of problems with lime build up and corrosion and cleanliness issues even when you have good quality water and high quality surfaces.
WITH THE BOTTOM GRATE AND SILICONE LINER WE MADE A CALZONE, CAKE AND MUFFINS WITH THE SILICONE MUFFIN LINER. LOTS OF FUN AND A LITTLE PRACTICE GOOD EATS 😊
We were impressed by this little oven. The real question is what should we attempt to bake? Key word being attempt. 😂

Thanks for the tips! Using the lower heat does seem to be the way to go.

Great tip! We will try that heating method next time.

The bottom would need to have a hole in it to allow the hot air from the burner to go up inside the oven. But it would still be interesting to try. 😀
I was wondering that too. I have a flat round cast iron griddle I bet that would work nicely.
Thanks for sharing, I'll continue baking in my air fryer while camping.
Are you able to use your air fryer while boondocking?
We've been using it and creating recipe/vids for over 3 years. Welcome to the party !
Awesome!

We have not tried using the Coleman over a camp fire. Sounds fun.
Fun video. I want camp cup cakes!
Order up! 👩🍳🧁
I have used my Omnia for a while now. The key is too cook on low heat. So low and slow will give you more success.

Another option is would be a Volcano Grill with a Dutch Oven. Bigger, but more versatile.
The volcano grill looks interesting.

Those silicone liners are great. We will have to try making a calzone. 😀
Everytime you open it you let all the heat out. Then it has to heat back up . Try not to open it.❤
They always try to get you on the bullshit accessories that should come with the main product which already has a high pricetag!
