    I have had the crossclimate 2(s) about 3 weeks. So far so good. They stop quicker/shorter distance. They do not spin when I peel out like the Michelin pilots did. They were decent on wet payment no spinning. I will post more once I make it through the snow and more wet weather.

    Crossclimate 2's are the best tires ever made. Nothing is better in rain or wet. It's as good as a dedicated winter tire in snow. Nothing is good on ice, these included. They aren't performance tires, and are worse at cornering but a very worthwhile trade off for my non-racecar. 2 years later, the tread is as good as ever and I can't imaging trying anything else ever again.

I have found no difference with regards to ride comfort. It shouldn't affect your ride comfort because they are a summer tyre compound with winter grip. Though tyre pressures do.

    CrossClimate2 is my choice and still using them 365 days per year. Had them since December 2022 as gone through 2 U.S. Northeast winters as where I live gets an annual average of 126 inches of snowfall. Still have plenty of tread and expect to last another 4 whole years. I don't have to swap between Summer/ All-Season to Winter/Snow tires as CC2's are All-Weather and all year round tires. However, you do lose 2 to 4 MPG on fuel efficiency sometimes worse MPG depending on terrain, how you drive - aka driver bad habits, and maintaining proper PSI - inflation. Expect to get more life as the CC2 should get you between 60,000 to 80,000 miles before replacing. A couple of TH-camr Video folks have claimed 100k miles on CrossClimate2s. They are relatively quiet, except in snow, handle weather conditions well, and good on the road. Comfort depends on wheel size ... I have 235/40R19 96V [2023 Toyota Camry XSE V6] and on good surfaced roads they are comfortable, get on choppy and terrible roads I tend to feel all the roads imperfections. Overall, CC2 is a great tire. The OE tires were BridgeStone Turanza EL440's which are 1,000 percent dangerous and unsafe tires as I had them shredded. The Best Top 3 Brand Name tire companies are Michelin, Continental, Pirelli, and worth an honorable mention is Good Year. Stay far away from any Asian/Korean/Japan made tires and that include Mexico. Mine are 96V aka V Rated. The Michelin CrossClimate2 235/40R19 96V cost about $265 USD each.

    These are the best tires all around I ever had on my car. Thats all I have to say about these if you think they dont handle very well or give you a harsh ride thats on your car not the tire 😅
    Some cars have a suboptimal suspension from the factory and they are very likely to not ride well with certain tires.
    On the other hand you HAVE to match the speed rating and load rating to your vehicle. Otherwise they will nor pair well. Im not putting an 94V XL tire on my car that has a rated top speed for 205kph and and is nowhere near heavy enough for a 94 XL tire.
    So I got 91H non XL tires and they ride amazing.

  • @bearwynn

    over here the V is the lowest speed rating you can get, but comes in the XL variant.
    The XL variants have more solid side walls so are stiffer tyres and that can be a problem for road noise and comfort.
    The W and Y ratings are the only other tyres, but they are 91 load rated and so have softer walls that take bumps easier.

    Glade that I could help regarding the difference between the "H" and "V" rated tyres. The universal rule of thumb with speed ratings is OK to go up never go down from the manufacturer's factory spec tires going from a V rated to an H rated is not safe H rated 130MPH V rated 149mph and can invalidate your insurance if you are in an accident. V rated tires cope better with heat and speed over distance cruising. Here in Northern Europe its illegal to go down a speed rating and you can lose your license if caught by the Police during an inspection.

    The speed rating has nothing to do with the ride.
    The faster the rating, the better balanced the tyre.
    What will effect ride is the load rating, higher the stiffer the side wall.
    So, you start by saying the Crossclimates are unacceptable without any reference.
    I switch between Primacy in the summer to Crossclimates in the winter and notice zero difference in ride.

      I had CC2s my Volvo XC90 I would say don't waste your money they are essentially summer tire compound with extra sipes to make them act like dedicated snow tires, they are not much better than premium summer tires in the snow, I am not a fast driver I take my time but the Cross climates are no good in snow they get hard just like summer tires, invest in a set of mid range Winter tires and swap the wheels over when winter arrives Vredstein Wintrac are great tires and less expensive compared to Cross climates I feel very confident with them on my car in the snow and the traction control light rarely comes on it came on often with the CC2 they also have 5 start Autobild rating you cannot get better than that and they wear better than any other winter tire and can be used into summer. Where I live the temperature rarely exceeds 20c anyway so they suit me fine all year and they do not make the terrible droning noise of the CC2 on dry roads.

    Top and bottom of this is that you should always be looking to change tyre for tyre where size,profile,speed rating and load are concerned. Stepping out of these sizes will ultimately alter the speedometer reading. Might not be such a big problem in certain countries but in the UK if i changed tyres and they weren't the exact same spec as the original and i have an accident the insurance company will not pay out . With winter tyres you can normally drop the speed rating and load by one but youre best checking with the insurance company first. The only other option is to change the tyre size completely but to a size and profile etc that sits within the parameters of thst which is safe and compatible , i e . A smaller wheel diameter but a larger profile size will keep your speedometer running true .
    Ive just put cc2 on my bmw m240i xdrive and got exact same tyre spec wise as the pilot sport 4s that were on as stock. There is a little difference in fuel consumption but id expect that from a tyre that is softer in compound and with a more aggressive tread pattern. The difference is only 1 or 2 mpg currently but its the trade off for the extra safety aspect in winter . Yet to try them out in snow but my pilot sport 4s will be back on in spring. Road noise isnt too bad and they feel grippy.

CC2 is as great as the Micheline X-ice Xi3 I used and sold for 3 months in the first winter then replaced them with CC2 to avoid the cost and time of swapping tires twice a year. Fuel efficiency in the summer is a bit better than the factory Micheline Energy Saver A/S and the fuel efficiency in the winter is almost as good as the Micheline X-ice Xi3 that has excellent rolling resistance; however, the ride comfort, safety, stability, cornering and grip in all four seasons are excellent and far exceed the factory tire .

      I must note that in Bulgaria and more specificly in Sofia we get actual snow no more than 20/30 days a year. I have driven mostly on the highway (140km / 90miles per hour) which makes the tread desolve faster.

    Hmmm. I'm giessing you do NOT have sport or low profile tires? I'm on my second set of these. Both sets were/are H rated and for a passenger car, they truly feel like the grand touring tires they claim to be. I admit, my original tires were such low rolling resistance, anything would have been an improvement, but I'm old and have had a wide variety of autos over the years.

      Correct. Not low profile.

    i listened to your entire video and i dont know when you say unacceptable, whether you mean too stiff or too soft. which one is it? i have a porsche cayenne gts, a rather heavy vehicle with quite some power resources, and i can easily do the top speeds you are referring to. my thoughts are that this tire may be too soft. yes i know that depends on road surface. thanks -

    • @DriveTuneMedia
      @DriveTuneMedia  28 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hey. Short version. The load rating for the tyre was more than the car needed which caused the stiff ride. I changed to normal/car manufacturer recommended load rating, ie not "Heavy Duty" and the ride was normal.

    I have brand new tires Cross Climate 2 DOT 2023, but have some very strange noise when turning left/right at high speed (80+km). I passed calibration front and rear axle and everything is ok on the suspension. The noise is only expressed at speeds above 80 km/h and is of a non-constant nature and is quite annoying. Any guesses if it could be from the tire tread, I didn't expect such a problem from such a high end tire. Are other people having a similar problem? After 1000km passed, noise is quite lower, but still exist.

      How would you describe it exactly? I may have something similar going on as well, except I only hear and feel the vibration at 40+mph and sweeping left hand turns.

  • @cristirenault

    You compare a worn tire with a new one. This si absurd. There is no difference between a tire with a speed rating and another tire with different speed rating. Yes, the tire structure is stronger on the higher speed rating tire, but not to a level that you can feel this in the car.

    • @DriveTuneMedia
      @DriveTuneMedia  ปีที่แล้ว

      A commenter said that the tires were also "heavy duty" and sure enough, it writes "heavy duty" on the sidewalls. Perhaps all high speed rating tyres in this size are heavy duty. Either way, high speed rating combined with being heavy duty I think explains the situation.

    How is fuel consumption with the CC2? is it better or worse?
    Also for my rim size it only gives me Y speed rating which is the highest, i guess im doomed 😅

      I'm loosing around 5 miles per gallon on cross climate 2 compared to original tires from car manufacturer. I have 2021 Toyota Rav4 hybrid and Im getting an average o 44.4 mpg city driving and using original tires from manufacturer which is Firestone Destination. After I replaced it with Cross Climate 2 I'm getting an average of 39.2 mpg. The diameter of the tires is also significantly smaller because There is difference of 4 KM/hour compared to aftermarket GPS.

    • @Jeo-What
      @Jeo-What 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Remember a brand new set of tires even the exact same model and size will have full tread depths which mean full weight and will require more fuel to move them. Fuel consumption and road noise always decreases as the tire treads wears down by loosing weight and less space available to generate friction acoustic noise between the road and the rubber. This is why most people notice the increases of fuel consumption and road noise after putting on a new set of tires. On my FWD HEV this was the trend after driven this set of tires for 58,800miles/94,600KM.

    why chase the V speed rating. It has nothing to do with what anybody needs out of a tire like this.

    Why change to H when the car is able to use the speed? Perhaps you live in a country with speed limits on the highway…. As long as our Autobahn is partly without speed limits, I think would never downgrade.

      Almost all people report the mileage getting better after a few thousand miles. Why would you "get rid of" brand new tires?
      If 5mpg is a problem in your life maybe you need a job near your home or vice versa.
