    Hey, Chief, thanks for this vid. I live in Northern Arizona so we can get ice and snow. I just bought a set of CrossClimate 2s for my RAV4 and get them installed in three days. Yours is the first vid of ice performance I was able to find. I realize these tires aren’t really designed for very icy conditions but they look like they performed well for you. Makes me feel better about my decision. You got around just fine with your FWD Camry, so the RAV4 should do well with 4WD. Appreciate you taking the time and energy to film and post this.

      Hey Zircon10, thanks for watching! Here is a link to a video I found that shows the tires performing on more ice than I had. This is like the only other video I found, which is why I made one too. His video should really give you more confidence! Best of luck, and let us know how they work out if you can!

      Yes! I've had the Michelin Ice tires before also! They were great for winter, but I had to take them off for spring/summer since they are a true winter tire. I am in Texas, so I don't really need a "true" winter tire here.
      The Crossclimate 2s are perfect for me where I live. I don't have to worry about this winter, and I don't have to go changing tires for each season.
      I'm sure you will be happy with your purchase! Congratulations!

    Thank you for your video, great to see CC2s do so much better on ice than regular tires. Put CC2s on my awd Acura RDX in Seattle and have SO MUCH more confidence driving on snow when we go hit the slopes 50m from Seattle. Did sound check w/ all season tires I had, then after I put the CC2s on and there was NO difference 😮, loved that. Winter season will be here before we know it so that's going to be the ultimate test. Factory tires were not very good at all in snowy conditions but I could defiantly tell that the AWD would engage after losing traction. I agree with you on how well they drive too a lot smoother than factory ones. I'm confident that the tires will be good for winter though. Like you I drive a Camry FWD and getting the factory tires replaced improved so much for me, I'm now on my second set. I road trip a lot so I've tried fresh snow, and grinned, just not Southern snow. Man, thank you for this. I'm currently shopping for tires that have exceptional performance on icy roads, because like you, I live in Texas. For the last two winters, I've gotten into situations where I had to stay at work because no one could come in to work and I couldn't get safely get home. I'm getting ready to begin researching these tires for myself.

    • @isee232
      @isee232  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You're welcome! I think these tires are an excellent balance for us in Texas. I haven't found a better tire for all weather in my research. The next best thing I've found is full winter tires, but then you have to switch them out every winter and spring. Full winter tires are a little excessive (but safest) for our 2-3 week Texas winter roads.
      I could be wrong. But these tires have served me well here in Texas. I am confident that I will be safe when going out this winter. It's the other cars on the road that I'm worried about now.

    Thank you for taking the time to share what you've learned about these tires. Quick question, since one of the design features of these tires is the rounded oval contact patch (unlike the more typical squared off contact patch) which requires a slightly higher psi to maintain the roundness. The result of all this is a smaller, more focused contact patch. Sorry for all that but it leads to my question, what psi are you running them at?

    • @isee232
      @isee232  ปีที่แล้ว

      I haven't had to add any air since they installed mine, but they put nitrogen in mine. They fluctuate between 33-35 psi as they warm up and cool down. So basically, I haven't ran them any different than the standard psi for my vehicle.

    Big up from T. 🇨🇦. I personally run Michelin Defender LTX M/S (All season) all yr on my MDX. The CC2 is obviously better on ice/deep snow, but louder and u lose some MPG (1-2). From tirerack : Defender - light snow 8.9, deep snow 8.3, ice 7.9. Cc2 - light snow 9.2, deep snow 8.8, ice 8.5. Michelin xice (winter tire) light snow 9.3, deep snow 9, ice 8.8. So u can see the all weather cc2 is pretty close to a winter tire! That's amazing.

    • @isee232
      @isee232  ปีที่แล้ว

      Good points! For me though, the CC2s are much quieter, and ride smoother than the Bridgestone Potenza tires that came on the car. So I really like that. The gas/mileage difference is not even noticeable to me, but...I did notice some slight rolling resistance. Obviously because the rubber is a different and softer material.
      Overall, I've ran snow tires before too, and yes, these tires are very close. But living in Texas, buying full on snow tires would not be best for me. We just don't get snow like that. So yeah, depending on where you live and the weather these can be some really good tires to keep on all year with or without the slight comparisons.
      Thanks for watching and for your input too!

  • @PackFan2323
    @PackFan2323 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Good review! I live in Wisconsin and have the CC2's and they're great for our climate. My sister lives in Dallas and I am going to recommend to her. I know ice storms can pretty much shut down some southern cities since they don't generally have salt trucks like up in most northern states. CC2's make it much safer and as you mentioned, they are all-weather tires, for year round use.

    • @isee232
      @isee232  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for your comment and for watching! I hope it all helps others to make a good solid choice on what tires to buy!
      You are also right. The southern states like here in Texas don't have the salt trucks and snow plows, etc. for winter weather. Anything we can do as vehicle owners to make our cars safer is a huge bonus not only to our own safety but also to the safety of others!

    • @isee232
      @isee232  ปีที่แล้ว

      @Senior` Strong Lifts 5x5 You are right, plenty of cars on the side of the roads here when winter weather hits us. Most people just take their chances with regular tires here because our wintery weather usually lasts only for a week or two. Other than ice, we usually just see really cold Temps, not snow and ice on a regular basis.
      I've lived in Germany during my military career and I know how well snow tires work. After having snow tires, I will never play around when it comes to winter weather again! The investment in good tires for the weather is worth it! Much cheaper than a new car too!

    Ive done 20k miles with these tyres fitted to a Honda fit in the UK 🇬🇧. This past winter was quite icy, tyres filled me with confidence wherever i drove and I even went out trying to get stuck… I failed 😞 😆. We had gridlock traffic due to road conditions etc and never once felt like i was losing traction. Had a moment where I gave way to car coming in the opposite direction on a narrow icy lane, there was an suv behind me who also gave way pulling into a snowy passing point (ditch). I was able to drive free pretty quickly and off up the icy hill where as suv was struggling and could hear their wheels spinning before gaining traction. Only downside in UK 🇬🇧 is EU regulations, tyres must have low rolling resistance to maximise fuel efficiency but this also means the tyre wears quickly. At 20kmiles ive got about 2/3mm tread left on the front (FWD car and heavy foot) seen reviews for US claiming 50k miles but rolling resistance high. They are about 50% more expensive than a premium summer tyre in UK and imagine i’d get more miles from the tyre but given the confidence i get from these and I didn’t slip off the road into a ditch this year i’ll be buying again. I live surrounded by farms with mucky roads (especially now) and travel to the city daily so a good tyre that can handle all conditions is a must.

      @@hkn125 so far I have no complaints. I plan to do a second video sometime soon. To me, they still sound as quiet as they did when I first got them. The tread is still in excellent condition too.
      Overall, I still highly recommend these tires and I've even noticed quite a few cars here in Texas with the same tires. I guess people have been doing their research. 😁

    Any comment on noise or fuel economy impact? Thanks!

    • @isee232
      @isee232  ปีที่แล้ว

      For me, road noise got much more quiet than the Bridgestone Potenza tires I had on it. It's a very quiet and smooth feeling ride for me. The softer rubber soaks up a lot of sound in my case.
      As for fuel economy, I really have not noticed much of a difference. I also do not drive every day, so it's kind of hard for me to compare honestly. My car is a 2018, and I literally just hit about 20k miles.
      I did notice slight rolling resistance. Initially, it felt like I had to give the car a little more gas to get going from a stop. I don't notice that much anymore now, though.

    How's lateral grip on turns on ice?

    • @isee232
      @isee232  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I didn't notice any slipping when I drove into turns. I didn't go driving like a mad-man either, I recommend still driving as safely as possible, but over all, I only noticed some slipping on start up and of course with braking, they are not actual snow/ice tires but are very comparable. It was all very controllable when I did feel any slipping. Hope this helps!

    those tires rate very high in snow..you really have no need for snow tires.

    • @isee232
      @isee232  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, exactly! For people like me who live in states that don't often get snow at all, they are a very good option. That's why I chose them. In Texas, we see some cold weather during the winter, but the last few years have brought ice and some snow.
      These tires are perfect for the weather we get here year round. I like that I don't have to purchase actual snow tires for the 2-3 weeks of ice and snow we get here. Changing tires every season in Texas would be painful for the little snow and ice we do get.
