I thought of a perfect career for you when I watched your older video talking about how you transitioned from a crazy busy schedule to slow living. You would be a great counselor/lifestyle coach for elite athletes on Olympic levels who are transitioning to "retiring " from their athletic careers and unsure about their life and how to transition to a slower life pace. I have heard from many documentaries on Olympians becoming really depressed after their careers because they have no idea what to do next and never planned it. I read the Atlas trilogy by Ayn Rand and liked it. A bit weird at the beginning, but only because in Italy Rand's not known nor is her philosophy and view on society and economics, which is insane. I'm not a fan of capitalism by any means but I'm an individualist so her books resonated a lot with me. I think at this point in my life I could no longer share a place with anyone human, only pets 😊 I need my peace and quiet, no objects around, don't wanna cook for anybody else and I'm no longer a social person. I would love that video on the nursing career you almost pursued but dropped . As I’ve mentioned, currently leaving the military and like you, I have this dream of remote work and traveling and helping people. I thought cyber security was the way to go, but am finding myself not being pulled at all to pursue it. Would love to talk about your nursing moment and ultimately what happened in you to say no - not this- even if I don’t what what I will do-but not this. P.S thank you for taking the time to respond to these comments. And the ones I’ve posted - and even if you don’t, your care for your viewers always comes through. Oh, and you played a part in inspiring me to post my first videos . Thank you . ❤
Congrats I am so happy to hear that! Keep going the more you do the more natural it will become. It is always my pleasure to connect and answer questions here 🩵 And I will do a video about the nursing career 🌼
I really love that you are trying to be a better person for animals and the earth. I am also learning to be a better person for other people. Learning about how the global south is oppressed to make our western life possible has really made it a big priority to value human lives as much as I value animals. Buying fair trade when possible for necessities and not from big corporations for hygiene products is a good start.
Also, helping to advocate for people who are oppressed by our western countries, has definitely helped me feel more connected to Mother Earth and all her beings.
Sorry, last point- and helping to fight for indigenous rights in my country (NZ) and other indigenous people, I think is really important when trying to become one with the world.
I was born in the Scottish Highlands. I miss it dreadfully, but the weather is definately better in California! If you want to elope, Gretna Green is the place to go!
Awesome! There’s many beautiful places in Scotland to get married. It’s a really magical place. I hope you get there - you’ll love it. I don’t know what it’s like now but Edinburgh had a thriving vegan scene when I lived there.
You don’t need to force yourself- it will happen when you are ready 🩵🪽 A question you could ask yourself is what is holding onto those journals really adding to your life? And is that attachment perhaps keeping you stuck in the past in some way?
@@Exploravorethey add zilch. I found them while declutterring didn’t even know I had them. As a writer I always think I’m going to need something for my books. 🙄
My brother plays a game to find the "most minimal" gift he can get for me. Examples are: Stamps, soaps, paying my phone bill for 6 months, etc. He even made a card of himself holding up a sign which said "the more you use this, the more it goes away!" - so proud of himself. I love it.
one addition to the question how to fight climate crisis: DONT FLY or as little as possible, as well as take the bike, train and public transport as much as possible!
I don't know how you were planning to do your Europe travels, of course, but one thing you can do to minimize flights is to do more on the ground travel. Taking buses and trains is better for the environment, but also it is more of an adventure in my experience and you get to see amazing landscapes! Rome2Rio is a great tool for finding routes and connections :)
Thank you Alicia, again, for this video also! You do it so good, that I strongly feel a connection, and feel that we share the same fundamental views in life, and wishes of how to live it. Yet you and me live very different lives. I think you’re cool, and I look forward to your future videos, and am glad that you give me the honor of, at least for now, letting me follow you on your journey in life.
I was surprised you mentioned Atlas shrugged. I haven't read it, but until now I have only heard horrible things about the book, now I am intrigued to hear your opinion! Would be a cool video topic, maybe controversial 😅
So the movie was supposed to be god awful- did not see it. I’ve not hear bad things about the book, but I always like to decide for myself. Like Dune, it’s a complicated and intricate work of fiction used to articulate political, economical and philosophical manifestos, which I love.
@@Exploravore thank you for answering ❤️! I am looking foward to read Dune, I loved the movies 😍. Atlas shrugged i might give it a try too, I guess I won't agree with the political views, since she is one of Trump's favorite authors, but sometimes you learn even more from people/ authors you disagree with.
@Ratatouilles I think just because someone you don’t like enjoyed something doesn’t automatically make that thing something you won’t like. This kind of thinking can slide into tribalism and culture wars, which is getting us into trouble as human beings… Let me know how it goes 💜

Hi Alicia, Thank you for inspiring me to own less stuff, and in case there is a part 3 coming, I have a question for you. I hope it won't come across as a disrespectful inquiry as I do not mean it to be. This is my candid question: Do you ever wonder if there might be a blurry line between ultra-minimalism and OCD? I don't necessarily mean OCD as a mental pathological disorder, but I am wondering if the extreme side of minimalism, like most extremist behaviors, can push one to become a bit neurotic. The analogy would be someone who becomes such a minimalist with food that they become anorexic. Would love to hear your thoughts. best, Laure
I’ve wrapped up filming the Q&As so I will answer here. I can see how there could be an association there for sure, it just really depends on the person, but also perspective. People tend to label things as “extreme” that they don’t understand or don’t want to do. People call vegans extreme as well. But I choose to be vegan and to live with so little because it makes me feel good, and it’s better for the planet. It’s not about perfection, it’s about what my soul feels called to do 💚
@@Exploravore thank you for answering my question, I appreciate hearing your perspective on this and also appreciate that you read and respond to comments :)
As someone who has diagnosed OCD and is an extreme minimalist, the two things are entirely different, opposite ends of the spectrum so to speak. OCD is detrimental to your life, where as minimalism is the opposite. It would be like calling alcohol, water. It would be false. It doesn't make sense. If you engage with minimalism in an unhealthy way, then it is no longer minimalism... it is, in this case, for this example OCD. Can you obsess over counting or decluttering because you are fearful something bad will happen if you don't? Yes. That would be OCD. Can you be interested in the numbers and declutter regularly... and feel joyful after doing so for a long period of time? Yes. That would be minimalism. My minimalism can be impacted by OCD. Just like my relationships, eating habits, sleep, time etc can be impacted by OCD. Equally, minimalism can help towards healing from OCD because minimalism at its core is about slowly taking away anything that doesn't, so to speak, makes you shine brightly and feel alive where as OCD does nothing but slowly make you distrust yourself.
