At least as minimalists the good news for us is that we can move in a flash! I also live in a small studio & have no bed (floor sleeping is the best!), no kitchen table/chairs, no kitchen appliances, no tv, & only a very old, well worn out 2nd hand recliner. And yes, it’s very comfortable living for me! I love the idea that all my personal possessions can fit in my car & I can be out of here & on the road in less than an hour. I certainly wish you all the best in finding a new place & I absolutely love the idea of traveling around with a couple of pieces of luggage and/or backpacks. Wishing you all the best, Alicia🙏🏼👍✅💯♥️❤️💙💛💚🧡🩵
@@Exploravore: Yes, floor sleeping is excellent for the spine because it puts our body in perfect alignment. I do have carpeted flooring & I use a yoga mat with a 3-inch mattress topper for some cushioning. I’m 68 yrs old & started sleeping on the floor about 7 years ago. I have the best night’s sleep this way & highly recommend it👍✅💯
Your not as crazy as me. I’m 63 and always been introverted . My passion is careing for animals and love the elderly. I’m working on planning my retirement so I can do the volunteer work I have always been drawn to. Everyone has their own paths they must walk and learning to keep the love and positive vibes during that time is important to your journeys. Much love to you ❤
My last move was for a similar reason. One day my landlord told me his son was getting married... and wanted to move into my apartment! I decided no one was ever going to kick me out for such a reason again, so I bought a place. I don't want to be 80 and some landlord is like 'Hey, ya gotta move..." I'm not criticizing your desire not to own a place, that has so many valid reasons! Just sharing my own experience and mindset...
I am going to live vicariously through you Alicia! All the best as you move and look to the future. You have lots to offer in this corner of the internet.
I enjoyed your home tour , but given it has mold not good at all for your health so it’s a blessing in disguise. You put out such great energy that I am sure what is meant for you will reveal itself. I am so looking forward to your content as I find so interesting your take on things. Many blessings sent your way and genuinely hope that this platform provides you with financial security so we can join you in your adventures!!
Carmen thank you so much for these beautiful words of encouragement- I truly appreciate having such wonderful people like yourself part of the community here ✨🩷✨
Wow! I’m so excited to see how you transform. I love the Matcha Samurai on TH-cam. A lovely gentle guy who is very minimalist and floor sleeps. Thank you for sharing, I can’t wait to see your next step!
As a former software programmer, I highly recommend it. If you can focus for that many hours at a time and you’re good with math, you can do well. It’s exciting to solve new, hard problems and translate a real world problem into a digital solution. The ethical side will be there. I worked for corporate clients at a bank and yes, moving Walmart’s money can make you feel uneasy or when I worked for a collection agency and had to write software to bug people to pay their debts. It can be demoralizing. But you can choose your projects or employer and work for projects or companies that solve important issues and help humanity.
Hmmm ok thank you for this renewed perspective. I had been thinking about taking a little workshop to see how it is, so maybe I’ll revisit it. Thank you 💜💜
Im sorry to hear you have to leave that wonderful space, but i have no doubt you will find exactly what works for you. I have always been fascinated with furniture free living and slept on a mattress on the floor for a couple of years. Your attitude is so inspiring to me, and can't wait to see where you end up.
I listened to your video after a long day of minimizing. I want to travel! You aren’t the lone ranger, there are more of us than you know. Thank you for your videos, they help me a lot!👍💃
I love this life plan you have described. I enjoy traveling and could totally see that as something I would do. I also am an extroverted introvert. I’m a nurse so have to be “on” at work, once I’m home I want peace and quiet! I hope the house hunting goes well. I also have explored many furniture free living videos, if I were single I would 100% be living that way. A futon on the floor that can be a bed or fold up into seating? Yes please!! Best of luck with the housing search
Yeah I’m getting pretty excited about the furniture declutter :) And blessings to you for being a nurse- I think that’s one of the hardest jobs in the world. I can only imagine how much peace you need at home to decompress 😅 Thank you for the well wishes 🩵
I agree with you about sleeping near the ground. I sleep on a tatami mat and Japanese futon and I love it. Wishing you well in your impromptu search for a place. I’m in NC and it’s WAY cheaper here.
Whilst i think you should travel while you can, enjoy life, and build memories, 40 years old is, seriously, the time to start thinking about how you will cope when you are retired. You are obviously physically fit and well, but ( hopefully) there will be a time when infirmity begins. So, put money aside now so that the miracle of compound interest can work for you. I did this, as well as had fun, and I am so grateful that i did. Someone gave me this advice, and so i pass it forward. As minimalists, we need much less than others in older age but we still need more than when we were younger. As beautiful as your apartment is, i am so glad that the universe is taking you away from that mould - it is very damaging for your health. Looking forward to finding out what the universe has in store for you next.
Thank you Lynn yes the Universe is looking out. I appreciate the concern for my future. I have a lot of money saved, which I will not be dipping into for travels- this is why I will create an online income stream so I can earn money while I travel and continue to add to my savings 🩷
Just a thought for when you are decluttering your linens and towels.... uou could donate them to an animal shelter...they are always needing stuff like that. 😊
I love the idea! I am also turning 40 this year, but not a minimalist even though everyone asks were our ”stuff” is (much less and a regular family of 4) i always have a feeling of that its equal to freedom to live from a suitcase. :) All things around me/ that we own is a to-do list, and the things is also a mind clutter. I look forward to follow your Journey and home you succeed with a income to support you to travel full time. I live i Sweden (Stockholm) and just write if you need any suggestions / questions regarding Sweden :)
I switched to a trifold mattress on the floor and I highly recommend it! Not only is it easy to move, but I love being closer to the earth, and as someone with chronic back pain from a bad injury, it has also been amazing for my back! I recently got a rollable futon frame (wooden slats on fabric straps) to keep moisture from building up, and I'm just in love with my bed!!
@@Exploravore Thank you! Also, I just wanted to mention a couple of things that might be helpful to think about when you're looking at bed options. I've tried Japanese futons, as well as a few different foam mattresses for the floor. The Japanese futons are amazing, but they do require a little more care, and tend to be firmer. I had one filled with organic cotton and eucalyptus that I LOVED, but in the end I passed it on because it was too firm on my joints. Foam ones are less ideal environmentally (although there are options out there with natural latex), but I found it to be easier to take care of, and the 4" trifold I settled on is soft on the joints, while still getting lots of firm support from the ground. I hope you find something that fits you well! Best of luck with your move and the next steps in your journey :)
I really relate to what you say about being drawn to ever greater silence. Similar to you I go through a spell of watching a few things and then just being pulled back to the silence and switching off the input. That said, I'm really looking forward to watching your move and see what changes this brings to your life as a minimalist 😊
Good luck in your new apartment search, Alicia. May be a blessing in disguise to have to move from your current place due to the damp. My daughter was in a mouldy rental for a while, and despite using a dehumidifier, all her clothes and shoes got mouldy. Not good.
I hope your channel grows and you can support your travel with videos. I would love to see where you go and your travel life as a minimalist. Sending good vibes with hopes the universe will make your dreams come true!
Good luck house hunting! I wish I could have a furniture free house, but I live in Canada and we have an old house with a crawl space, so the floors are freezing in the winter. But minimalism has helped me make our small space feel spacious and tidy so I’m happy with that.
Oof I feel you- I grew up in Edmonton. I remember standing in front of the oven in winters to get warm 😅😅🥶🥶 Glad you have found simplicity in other ways 🩵
I'd love to hear more about your social life and how you utilize your social energy between home, work and friends! Personally I operate under the idea that intro- and extrovert is a spectrum and you fall somewhere between the two, but if you are say, 70% introvertet it also means that 30% of the time you have extroverted tendencies, so 70% of the time you regain energy by being alone but also need that 30% social stimulation. I have shiftet from being way out on extrovert and more towards the middle, so where I used to recharge energy by being around people all the time, I now need more alone time thus being more centred on the spectrum as opposed to ten or fifteen years ago when I was hypersocial. I think it's a natural shift with age as well, as my social circle is also boiling down to fewer but closer friends. The people-pleaser in me doesn't like it, but the rational part of my brain also needs me to accept that this is normal and healthy!
Yes as we get older we tend to know who we are more! I was never hyper social because I’ve always worked a lot and didn’t have too much free time. But all of my professions have been hyper social- performing artist, teacher and bartender lol. So my alone time is like 90-95% outside of work to keep me sane. I can go months without a social outing and be totally content 😄
Your way of living is so inspiring for me. Love your home tour and your 'what I eat' videos. So sorry to hear that you will be leaving that great apartment. While California is beautiful, I cant see staying here much longer, either. It's just so hard to live here. There are other equally beautiful places that have beaches that are much cheaper. But if you were to stay here, theres always the tiny house on wheels option, or even a mobile home, which can be more affordable. Wherever you end up, I'm sure it will be the perfect spot. Hope you continue filling us in on your next adventure. I would sure love to see that video about introverts. Take care and safe travels....c:
Thank you so much for these well wishes. Yes this will definitely be my last move here, then I’ll be in Nomad Land :)) And Introvert vid definitely added to the list 😉🩷
My husband and I ditched our bedframe (box spring on the floor) and couch several years ago. We sit on meditation cushion sets, and we love it. Last summer, I injured my knee, and I was in a soft brace and needed crutches, but even then, I was able to get down to and up from the floor without issue. From past experience, mold will give you respiratory issues, and the spores travel, so be careful about what you store and/or bring to your new place.
Thank you Gina and that’s so inspiring to hear that you have a husband that loves extreme minimalism too! Hopefully I’ll find one too 😄 And yes I’ll wash all my clothes when I move but for sure ditching my mattress and pillows
I love how you live from the 4-5 videos I’ve watched and it’s got me thinking about my life in helpful ways. Monk style seems liberating to me and the fact that you can pack up everything in an hour speaks to the freedom and space that comes from the inner journey of removing everything that impedes that. I’m curious what you use for deodorant? That was not mentioned in your care kit. I’ve heard tea tree oil works well. I am astounded at how pair downed your beauty regime is and I’m inspired by that a great deal! I’m going to try the Fiji soap and see if I can pare my routine way down. I’m already doing no makeup and only use Egyptian magic for my skin and that works really well for me❤️Thank you for sharing your experience as I value your content. I am overstimulated by life so finding things that are grounding like walking barefoot is rare!
Thank you for these kind words Emily and I’m so happy to hear you are finding nourishment here. So I forgot to mention but I actually don’t use deodorant at all! Stopped a few years ago, found I don’t really need it. The only time I get a little stinky is after a hard hike or workout, but then I just jump in the shower ;) Blessings to you on your journey to simplification! ✨🩷✨
Organic corn starch works well as a deodorant, but I'm not sure about using it if you don't shave. Non organic corn starch is all genetically modified and that poison will be absorbed into your skin.
I’ve been to Iceland, in my eyes it’s one of the most beautiful places on earth and the people are so welcoming, would love to recommend some places for you to see on your future adventures there. I hired a camper and travelled the west and south coast over 7 days. Hopefully going back next year to tour the north and east coast!
Wow that sounds amazing! Yes I am enthralled by places that are more left untouched by humans and the beauty and raw nature of this world can be taken in fully. Can’t wait 😁
A lot of people would recommend the golden circle as a place to go, if you google it you’ll see what I mean. I would say like definitely go and see it but it’s very busy with tourists so I didn’t spend that much time there, maybe half a day going round the whole thing. It was when I went further from civilisation that the real beauty started to appear, hidden waterfalls, massive glaciers and black sand beaches. Honestly I’d love to live there someday for a while. I’m so excited for you, it’ll be an amazing experience 🤗
I used to sleep on the floor for many years and than got a bed because of my boyfriend complaining. He is no longer here, and I just ordered new tatamis and a futon - wich served me well in the past as a bed and a place to read, relaxe and meditate.
Your beauty proves that simplicity is effective. I love the quote the art of simplicity is sophistication. We are live in a world where we are sold a lie thst beauty requires a lot of money and effort!
I'm sorry to hear about your apartment. The rent in Miami, FL, is a nightmare. A lot of families are living together to save money. I am sure everything will turn out for the best. I hope that you'll find an apartment soon❤❤❤
My daughter just had to do the apartment search thing in NYC (her apartment building needed a major remodel and everyone had to move out) and it was a wild ride. My wish for you is that your search goes much more smoothly.
Oh man my sister lived in Brooklyn for a long time- I know it’s crazy there. The market here is rough, but I’ve gotten lucky in the past so fingers crossed 🤞🏻
Sounds like a literal dream! I want to travel full time as well and just fly into the states when I need to work. I’m a flight attendant and I can go part time if need be. I know senior FA’s that work 6 days a month and that’s it. And they can make up to 80 grand a year. I’m building my seniority to be able to go part time and just do whatever I want to do. I would love to live that nomad lifestyle! I will continue to watch for whatever direction you want to go! ❤
I always thought I was an introvert but sometimes I surprise myself and think maybe I’m not a full introvert. I’d love to see your video on what you’ve experienced.
So there’s a thing called “extroverted introvert” which I definitely am. Basically can do really well socially and enjoy it, but it’s ultimately draining and solitude is what’s needed for recharge (vs true extroverts who need socializing for energy and recharging). Maybe that’s you too?
Hello Alicia ! I wish you all the best for your next adventures and I can't wait to follow along !! Yes mold is such a bad thing, I feel really grateful not to live in a moldy place anymore after 3 and a half years. It's funny to hear you speaking about your New beetle and all your things that can fit in it because when I left my parents house at the age of 18, i told myself "everything I own must fit in my car" (which is not bigger than yours). I would even like to downsize to one or 2 backpacks. That would be real freedom for me 😁 I'm really grateful to know you (know is perhaps not the perfect word but it's how I feel !) because we probably shouldn't have met as I don't plan to go in the US but it's such a heartwarming feeling to know that you exist with all your values and your life philosophy which is, I believe, so similar to mine... By the way, if you ever come in France, I live in Brittany and I would be happy to meet you here 😊 Take care of you, warm hugs to you, à bientôt !!! ❤️🐈⬛🍭
@@Exploravore oh yes ! Brittany is in the west of France and I live in the Morbihan département (there are 4 Brittany départements). I live at about 15 minutes from the ocean 😊
Yesssss, it's a beautiful area !! I'm from the North of France and I décided to move here 8 years ago (I also lived in the South for 9 years ; it never felt like home). I would like to spend one year in the UK, it's a dream of mine particularly in order to improve my english skills 🤗 Have a beautiful day Alicia, light and hugs to you 💛🌺
Best of luck with your move! Have you thought about moving to the mountains of Big Bear? Gorgeous peaceful nature and hiking and a little more affordable than SD:-) Backpacking around the world is the most freeing awesome experience ! I loved it... and met my now husband :-)
Ah that’s so cool to hear!! And I would love to live in the mountains someday. The tricky part is what I would do for work- yes I could still work as a bartender, but tourists off seasons can be brutal 😬
I love moving! A nice fresh start. Go for a japanese futon and tatami mat! (Its my dream to have one one day) Sitting and laying on the floor or a yoga mat is awesome... and so good for the body. Nothing wrong with furniture free living 😊 good luck on your hunt for your next apartment
That all sounds amazing! I’ve thought about off grid for later on down the road! I don’t have any doubt that you could do TH-cam full time for your income! It will happen!
LOVE❤LOVE❤LOVE The universe is guiding you to your next chapter! I say - go all in! Travel the world! Claim it, leap and let the universe catch you 🙏 You and I are on similar paths… We are called to travel, experience freedom, and impact others. Additionally, this travel is temporary before we come into union and settle down off grid, so that’s why I say go all out! I also want to go furniture free extreme minimalist as a long term lifestyle. I’ll actually be air bnb hoping and car camping later this year. Then backpacking across the world. It was over a year ago, the universe/spirit/Source told me that I’d sell my house and downsize to a carryon and backpack! It’s lining up. So happy for you! And this video just amps me up! Let’s gooooooo! 👏
I just came back home from a trip around Norway, and am totally blown away of the beauty of the country! I hope you get the chance to travel soon! Love from Sweden
I absolutely love your plan, I have a similar framework and situation and I think we'd get along very well irl. If I had the disposable income to help you achieve those goals quicker I would send it your way, but for now I'll have to support you through views and likes. Your attitude on life will get you wherever you want to go in the long run, and I'm grateful to get to witness snippets of your journey
When I heard that you lived in the PNW in B n' Bs and everything fit into your car, I realized THIS lady does my kind of simple living. I did the same when I first relocated from the east to the west coast. (Though I feel like a cheater since my vehicle was/is bigger than a VW Bug. 😃) Though, I slept on the floor for years, I'm still getting accustomed to a "regular" mattress. No matter how the rental market appears, I feel you are going to be led to the next best space for YOU. Subscribe - you have a wonderful energy, and I'm excited about your move and travel plans.
Thank you for this lovely reflection, and welcome to the family here! 🤗💕 I’ve heard from a few floor sleepers out there.. did you always sleep on your back? …I’m usually on my side and that seems like it might be painful 🤔
@@Exploravore I am (mostly) a side sleeper, left side to the ground/mattress. When I sleep on the floor, I seem to wake up with my back to the ground. 😃 When I first moved out west, I slept a few nights in the Honda that got me out here. That was the least comfortable sleep but a needed shelter at the time. I am very much enjoying your channel. So much of what you speak about resonates with my own experiences and habits. Surely, many viewers drawn to your channel are as delighted to find a kindred spirit. You beautifully demonstrate living a life of "enough" with integrity and grace.
It sounds like some divine timing with this move! Right during eclipse season 😅 the universe must have a beautiful plan for you. Praying you find a great space.
I hope you find a beautiful calm clean place to live. I’m inspired by your light living. Btw …Mould is dangerous to live in. I developed asthma at 40 from living in mouldy houses. My sensitivity gets more severe as a get older. Best 🩷to you.
Can’t wait to watch your move! I’ve slept on a twin mattress on the floor for years, love it! I’ve also done furniture free (besides the mattress) and loved that too. I’ve joked that I could decide to sell my small condo one morning, pack and move and have it for sale by that night.
As an ultra minimalist myself ,there isn't a space that I can't roll with. There isn't such a thing as too tiny for me, because it's just me as a bare human and I own nothing. I love to comfortably sit and eat on the floor. I never entertain or have people over anymore. And my two boys that live with me, my husband couldn't care less about stuff and my son is used to living with less (although he still has his things that he loves). I love the lightness that allows me to just pack and go. It must be how birds feel when they move south, ultimate freedom 🦅
Wishing you the best of luck on your home search. We live in Southern California too in Alpine and rental prices are crazy. We just moved into a manufactured home, the rent is much less expensive. I know you love being by the beach. Have you ever looked into Encinitas? They have the cutest cottage beach house manufactured homes along the coast at very reasonable prices to rent😊
lol so I’m right in Encinitas- Cardiff, but basically the same. I lived in Enci for 3 years before.. I actually have a friend in one of those- they are adorable. I’ll be on the lookout thank you! And I love Alpine it’s gorgeous 🌲💜
I’ll be doing a packing vid of my move for sure :) I have a short titled “watch me fit my entire wardrobe into one backpack” if you want to check that out ;)
Hi girl 🙌🏻 Looking forward to watch your next chapters 🤸🏼♀️ And consider visiting my country Portugal 🇵🇹 also do some research on the St. James way that you can walk from different starting points (France, England, Portugal) to Santiago de Compostela in Northern Spain. Beautiful spiritual trip 🙌🏻
Hello,I have to move also, I live in Marin County, everyone always say that its so expensive, blah blah blah and I have always found a place for my price range. This people contacted me with a $800 one bedroom but it was to dark and they live upstairs and it was so noisy. ( I love silence and I'm sensitive to noise.) I'm trusting always do, ready for a new adventure. I have no furniture, never did, because I like to travel light. I know you will find the perfect place for you, everything is always perfect. "Bonne chance" on your new adventure., sounds exciting to me. Much love💖💖
I was going to leave a long comment about travel and money then I realized you will learn what you don’t know by doing and no advice today will help. Just do it! I had some bumpy times in the three years I did travel but well worthwhile.
I am sorry that you have to leave your beautiful apartment, but I am sure you will find the right place for me. I also want to go to Norway really bad, so I am really excited for you to go there, I hope you film some content while you are there, that would be amazing. I also can’t wait to see the moving and downsizing videos 😍😍😍 your content is amazing and inspires me so much, thank you Alicia 🩷🩷
Thank you so much for these sweet words Sara! And yes I will absolutely be filming my travels- I want that to be a big part of this channel (I just travelled 3 months last year tho so needed to recoup a bit hehe $$$).
Sending you positive energy in hopes you find a new place you love. I can’t wait to see where you end up. My son was stationed in Spain and he traveled all around Europe . He said Norway, and Germany were his favorite countries. He also said Finland was pretty amazing too. Hope you get over there to visit all those beautiful countries. ❤️❤️
I admire your lightness. It would be a major undertaking for me to move. $2300 would be almost 3 months mortgage on our 3 bedroom house in the midwest . Really enjoy your content .
Haha oh my goodness yes it’s wild here. Everyone has their own spectrum of needs, but if you feel the pull to release some things and live lighter, then lean in! 🩵
Thank you! I'm sure trying. Layer by layer of letting go and decluttering. Lots o trips to the donation center! Thanks for all the inspiration. I Love how free and untethered you are from your belongings and social constructs. I appreciate authenticy. 🍀
I hope you have a Surfskate because I get the vibe that you and Surfskating were made for each other and you are living in SoCal and you value fun. I recommend YOW over any other brand . Status Skate Shop in Carlsbad has a great selection of Surfskates and a ton of demo models to try and Brian is so cool and he has been skating for 40-ish years. You seem like you are made for Surfskating . I hope to see some videos of you rockin on your Surfkate soon. You are worth it. Blessings
@@Exploravore look at YOW or Carver surfskate videos on TH-cam. Beware of Grlswirl surfskate brigade that is basically become lesbian male hating exclusivity surfskate meetup large groups. It was a nice thing until it wasn't and they rationalize being a female only skate thing. Just warning you before you end up seeing them and you will. I believe everyone can skate together and not silly gender driven stories
@@Exploravore Brian at Status Skate shop will demo you a surfskate and maybe even buy one of the demos he has that are a lot cheaper than buying new. You are only a couple of miles from the shop. I recommend YOW but most people start on Carver stuff. Enjoy !!!
I code websites 😅 and the more experienced you get, the easier it’s to solve problems. Also you can search every possible problem on the internet. But I’m thinking that you could make guides on minimalism and/or start a Patreon? It’s great to be able to work from home or everywhere. Good luck with the apartment hunt! I hope something nice and right home will come your way. I also hope that you get to travel to Europe. Groetjes from the Netherlands 🇳🇱
That’s awesome you code- mad respect. Going to keep putting my heart into this channel. Def not doing patreon though because I don’t want to solicit money from my viewers and discriminate against those who don’t have enough expendable income- I’d rather make my money from the big firms who are going to spend on ads regardless 😉 Hugs back to the Netherlands 🤗💜
@@Exploravore Thank you so much! 😊🤗 💜 I hope that you can give coding a chance :) And that’s a great and thoughtful consideration regarding TH-cam vs Patreon, I had not looked at it that way. Wishing you the best of luck with moving and traveling.
I am quite envious. Had a wanderlust my whole life that I could never indulge; circumstances have kept me in the same town for decades and it kills me. Now I'm slowly getting too old to do the things I wanted, like be a nomad. Also dealing with a long-time boyfriend who's a shopoholic. It would be nice if things changed and I could at least move away and start my life.
I understand many things are out of our control, but there are still a lot of things that ARE in our hands that we can change- it just might be difficult or painful or scary. Only you can decide what is best for you though 🙏🏻✨🩵
Did you do a video on how many towels, sheets, wash cloths, kitchen towels, etc that you have? And if not many, how do you manage laundry, since you might have to do it more often than is convenient?
So I only do laundry for my clothes once a week- not a problem. I just have one set of sheets, and then 2 bath towels, 2 face towels, 2 kitchen towels, and 4 cleaning rags :)
Alicia sorry to hear that you have to move but because of your health it's probably the best thing to do. As far as finding another place have you considered Eastern Washington State? There are lots of apartments here that you could rent for 1100 to 1800 dollars a month that are really nice. I know that you would have to get a job here but with your bartender experience I wouldn't think you'd have much problem here. Just something to think about since I know you've been to the Pacific Northwest so you're familiar with it. As far as sleeping with just a mattress on the floor I don't think that's a crazy idea at all. In my minimalist journey that's one of my goals. I'm an introvert to and prefer to be by myself most of the time. I spend most of my time with my family. If you're going to go overseas have you considered working on a cruise ship? That way you could earn money on your way over which would help your finances. These are just some suggestions. I just spent the morning with one of my daughters who lives up in a remote area in Eastern Washington with her family. They live on some acreage and have gardens and peace and quiet. It is inspiring me to that life. I hope all goes well with you.
Thank you Mark. Eastern Washington is on my radar for places to live off grid in the more distant future. For now I don’t want to move/find a new job- I want the next jump to be into nomad land :) I actually had an opportunity to work on a cruise ship as a performing artist, but there is no way in hell I want to be trapped on a boat for 9 months lol (I have a number of friends who did it and thought it was mostly terrible).
I wish you well in making money as a digital nomad. I know that will be a challenge for you since you're not really Keen on computer stuff. I hope you can find a way that doesn't require getting a computer.
Diy monastery at home makes perfect sense to me since one of my mentors is a Buddhist monk. They are even more minimalist than you. I aspire to this level of simplicity.
If you are interested in Norway and Iceland you'll be blown away by NZ especially the South Island. If and when you do make it down south please feel free to reach out if you like. Will be happy to connect.
As a Portuguese person, I appreciate Nordic culture. I am fascinated by Scandinavian culture, the way societies organize themselves in terms of lifestyle and principles. The big obstacle for me in these countries is the meteorology. Little sun, little light for most of the year is a problem for me.
Yes I think that would be very difficult for a lot of people- but definitely something that gives Nordic people the unique spirit and culture they have..
I live in Sweden but I have worked in Norway. Norway is my second country! I love it! I went to Svalbard with friends a month ago. You have to visit Svalbard!
I think the "Universe" is getting you out of there because of the mold. I live With my daughter and boyfriend. He loves furniture but my favorite time of my life is when I had no furniture. Travel when you can and just focus on a little place that doesn't need a lot of upkeep and you will do fine. I short out electronics😂. Maybe archeological work or being a park ranger, caretaker of vacation homes, there are unusual jobs out there so have fun and look around and know that mold is really bad and the "Universe" has your back!❤
I’m sure your Chanel will take off It already is doing really well Maybe do some travel type stuff around San Diego so we can see more of the most expensive place to live on earth Ps: where I live for 2,300 a month you can have a big 4-5 bedroom home
I'm sure somebody has said this in the 6 months since this video was published, but animal shelters and veterinary offices will take your old towels etc as bedding for animals!! No hygiene concerns there 😸
Start you travelling journey asap. Was always my dream but then you meet someone with possibly different aspirations and it never happens! Speaking from experience but all is not lost for me. Almost 63 and 3 marriages later I'm now living in a studio with a camper parked outside and feeling relatively free!!
Have you thought about living in a van (#van conversion)? That's my dream for retirement, since my kids are not onboard with living in a bus idea 😥 Good luck!
So I think van life is super cool but it’s not for me. I don’t want to deal with maintenance and upkeep, and parking laws are so strict I don’t want to have to “hide” each night when I’m sleeping. I’d do it short term to see nature but not long term 🩵 Sounds like it would be awesome for retirement!
we have fantastic beaches, forests, many villages and places to install wooden houses or container houses. The climate here is great, lots of sun in general. We are generally a safe country and we only have around 10 million people. We are a hospitable country and foreigners are welcome, especially if they are honest people. Perhaps with the exception of people over 60, the majority of Portuguese people can also communicate in English and Spanish.
For me and toddler, we can fit everything but the furniture and huge appliances into a car packed and in the car within an hour. I would heavily consider decluttering the two sofas and the two beds and two bookcases and the two TVs I never use. When I lived in placement I had to take everything but the furniture and appliances and kitchenware and managed to do exactly that. Managed to fit a car seat, pram, and bouncer as well as our clothing and hygiene and papers and toys all into 10 shoppers size bags with room to spare. Now, with the increase in toys, it would more likely be 20 but still pretty good just more cramped.
@@Exploravore me and few others on here are out and about in the world, living by example that extreme minimalism is possible with kids, by respecting their own comforts and desires and joys whilst still having consistent and reliable boundaries and love x
Hello Alicia. I didn’t know, you are mostly German, although I watched nearly all of your videos. Do you speak German? Which part of my Country would you like to visit? There are so many beautiful places in this world, if I were you, I would take this situation as a hint to start my journey right now. I hope my English is not too bad. Please keep going on making videos on TH-cam and take us with you, you‘re such a precious human. Love from Germany, Marion
Your English is great! I started learning German on DuoLingo but had to stop because I hated the screen time and gaming aspect of it. I will find a better more analogue way to learn. I am a pagan nature lover and really just want to connect with the beauty of the planet more than see human built cities. I think it’s the more southern part of Germany that has mountains (Bavaria)? I’d love to see this area 🩷 Sending love back to Germany 🩵
Yes Bavaria is in the south of Germany and next to Switzerland 😅, it is very beautiful here,I'm going to annoy you as long as you're actually here😅😅😅😅😊
I don’t know if you’ve seen any of Rebecca Sisson’s videos but she seems like a kindred soul to you (same-ish age, vegan, lives in Joshua Tree.) She was living out of her van when she first started her TH-cam channel, and working remotely as a marketer, I think? I would love to see the extroverted introvert videos (as a former bartender/barfly who could happily spend weeks alone…well, with a dog anyway.) Are you into MBTI stuff at all? Good luck on the apartment hunt! I feel like you send out such good karma that hopefully it will come back your way. ✨
Awe thank you Amanda I appreciate that 🤗 And I’ve not heard of Rebecca- I’m on a media fast right now but I’ll check her out at some point thank you :) And not sure what MBTI is?
I feel like my path that god (don't hate on me for saying that please 😭) sent me to do is give to others, like create small backpacks to homeless people or to my family. I'm not the best with people (my anxiety is bad) so I'm not sure if I'm comfortable doing Voluntary work, but I do want to give with my own budget and what I have. I do wanna become a minimalist cause of my beliefs and the good for the environment, plus I feel like god would appreciate it more too if I learned to not be attached to material items and such. I'm not sure if I'd go as far as you, sense I like my clothes (still wanna minimize it but not to 27 like you) but I wanna try to have that life style to help the environment, and be financially stable so I can have a good retirement and travel, or maybe get a small house in the woods or something (If I'm still into that) but wish me luck on this journey and I hope the best for you !!
A friend once told me, “home is wherever I am”.
Yes! Love this 🩵
At least as minimalists the good news for us is that we can move in a flash!
Thank you Reny! And wow so do you sleep directly on the floor? Or do you have a little cushioned mat? This is next level!!
Sleeping on the floor is insane😮
I’ve heard it’s actually good for the spine! 🤔
I have the best night’s sleep this way & highly recommend it👍✅💯
@renysimone3312 Ok you’ve got my wheels turning now… 🤔🤔😏
Samurai Matcha and Robin Greenfield are the most minimalist boys I can think of on YT ❤🇦🇺
I’ll have to check them out :)
I LOVE Samurai Matcha
Your not as crazy as me. I’m 63 and always been introverted . My passion is careing for animals and love the elderly. I’m working on planning my retirement so I can do the volunteer work I have always been drawn to. Everyone has their own paths they must walk and learning to keep the love and positive vibes during that time is important to your journeys. Much love to you ❤
Beautifully stated, and love that you are going to be following your passions to live a life of service. Love to you as well 🌟🩵🌟
My last move was for a similar reason.
Yup it’s a personal choice for everyone! I may own someday, but off the grid and out of the system 😎
I am going to live vicariously through you Alicia! All the best as you move and look to the future.
You have lots to offer in this corner of the internet.
Thank you so much Wendy I really appreciate this 🤗💜✨
I enjoyed your home tour , but given it has mold not good at all for your health so it’s a blessing in disguise.
Thank you so much and that sounds like a cool dude!!
Oh yes, I agree, he is so lovely and smart and funny :)
@@ingalien8102 Second!
Thank you Melanie!! 🥰💕
I listened to your video after a long day of minimizing. I want to travel! You aren’t the lone ranger, there are more of us than you know. Thank you for your videos, they help me a lot!👍💃
And thank YOU for watching and adding to the awesome family here. I hope you get to travel too. Happy decluttering! ⚡️⚡️
I can’t wait to see your downsizing and what exciting projects for you 😊
Thank you! 🤗✨💕
An I’ve heard Japanese futon’s are great! And thank you- definitely will be the last time I move here then I’ll be ready to bounce :)
So inspiring to me. You do you girl. Let the universe be your guide. And keep these videos coming! I love them and your insight into the world! ❤
Thank you for these lovely words. Yes the Universe is always guiding!! 🩷🩷
This is a wonderful idea. Someone else mentioned it too and I had never thought about that before. Thank you 🙏🏻💜
Hi life tidy I just enjoyed your video yesterday❤️
@@Theresa-jq3dw 😊😊😊
I hope that you keep up with this channel. I look forward to seeing all your exciting plans come to fruition.
Thank you so much. It’s awesome people like you that inspire me to keep going 😼⚡️🩵
Thank you so much! And love hearing from people that have families but still live simply 🩵✨
That sounds awesome I will look into it thank you!! Glad your back is better! 🩷🩷🩷
@Tasimmet thank you for this helpful info! I actually do much better with firm as too squishy throws me out of whack. I’ll look into these! 💜
Good luck finding your new home! My mum has a phrase she always tells me- "when one door closes another door opens". And it is true.
💯💯 Always comes back to trust. Thank you 🩵🩵
The right place will come along. 🤗 And if it doesn’t (in this timeline), you will still be just fine! Sending good vibes your way. 🥰🥰
Thank you so much and yes it’s all about TRUST 🙏🏻✨
I really relate to what you say about being drawn to ever greater silence. Similar to you I go through a spell of watching a few things and then just being pulled back to the silence and switching off the input. That said, I'm really looking forward to watching your move and see what changes this brings to your life as a minimalist 😊
Nice to know there are others out there 😉 And I am honored that you emerge from your sacred silence for these videos ☺️💕
Good luck in your new apartment search, Alicia. May be a blessing in disguise to have to move from your current place due to the damp. My daughter was in a mouldy rental for a while, and despite using a dehumidifier, all her clothes and shoes got mouldy. Not good.
Yes it’s not good! Life was definitely handing me a blessing on this one ✨
I hope your channel grows and you can support your travel with videos. I would love to see where you go and your travel life as a minimalist. Sending good vibes with hopes the universe will make your dreams come true!
Thank you so much for these words- they mean so much to my heart 🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷
Hello from London! Just wanted to tell you how inspiring and enjoyable your videos are 🥰 Good luck with the apartment search.
Thank you so much! Sending hugs back to London 🤗💕
I’m positive you will find a great place with good vibes🌿🌱🤓
Thank you!! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🩵🩵
@Deva-no3dn So I do shave, but I’ve found I just really don’t need any deodorant 😊
@@Exploravore Must be that vegan diet. That's great!

@cosycornerasmr 😍😍😍
I used to sleep on the floor for many years and than got a bed because of my boyfriend complaining. He is no longer here, and I just ordered new tatamis and a futon - wich served me well in the past as a bed and a place to read, relaxe and meditate.
Ah nice enjoy your new sleep setup! I’ve heard great things about these..
Your beauty proves that simplicity is effective. I love the quote the art of simplicity is sophistication. We are live in a world where we are sold a lie thst beauty requires a lot of money and effort!
Thank you 🙏🏻✨🦋 And that is one on my most favorite quotes as well- Leonardo DaVinci I believe 💜
Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication is the exact quote by Divinci! I had to look it up. I resonate to it and glad you do too!❤️

I'm sorry to hear about your apartment. The rent in Miami, FL, is a nightmare. A lot of families are living together to save money. I am sure everything will turn out for the best. I hope that you'll find an apartment soon❤❤❤
Ah my best friend is in Miami and was recently looking for a place and it took her forever to find something good. Thank you for the well wishes 💕💕
Thanks for taking us along for the move. Hope you find the perfect home 🤍

Thank you!! Much love 🌟🩵🌟

The universe is guiding you to your next chapter!
I say - go all in! Travel the world! Claim it, leap and let the universe catch you 🙏
You and I are on similar paths… We are called to travel, experience freedom, and impact others. Additionally, this travel is temporary before we come into union and settle down off grid, so that’s why I say go all out!
I also want to go furniture free extreme minimalist as a long term lifestyle.
I’ll actually be air bnb hoping and car camping later this year. Then backpacking across the world.

I’ve heard from a few floor sleepers out there.. did you always sleep on your back?
@Jean_in_Stillness Thank you so much for these kind words 🙏🏻✨ And good to know about the side sleeping… Brainstorming the floor sleeping 🤔🤔🤔
It sounds like some divine timing with this move! Right during eclipse season 😅 the universe must have a beautiful plan for you. Praying you find a great space.

Extroverted introvert is a Ambivert… welcome to the club, exhausted and thrilled 😅😊
Hahah lol thank you! Going to start using that term 😄
Can’t wait to watch your move! I’ve slept on a twin mattress on the floor for years, love it! I’ve also done furniture free (besides the mattress) and loved that too. I’ve joked that I could decide to sell my small condo one morning, pack and move and have it for sale by that night.
Amazing. Yes definitely inspired to go furniture free, especially so I can be ready to take flight into travel asap. 🩷
Btw. You are very welcome to come and stay in Slovenia once you go on your Europe travel ☺️
YES! So beautifully stated and I totally agree- I always marvel at animals in nature- they need so little! I strive for this 🩵
And thank you 🩷🩷
Your videos are so good. You always make me see things from another angle. Good luck in your house search ❤️
Thank you so much for the well wishes, and thank you for being part of the family here 💜💕
The less I have, the more content I am. Really exciting times ahead for you! I'm looking forward to your vlogs ☺️
Thank you! And yes amen to that. Glad you know the liberation simplicity brings ☺️🩷
I hope the universe finds you a cozy home that you love.
It will- I have faith :) Thank you 🩷🩷
Wishing you the best of luck on your home search.
Haha I love how you said your stuffed animals have souls! I agree 😄
💯💯🐱🐱💜
I’d be excited to see you pack your one or two bags in preparation for the move or backpacking around the world. ❤
Ah I have heard of this!!! I would love to do that 🥰🥰 Hugs to Portugal 🩵🩵
Sounds amazing! So freeing.
🤗✨💕
Ohhhh! it’s gonna be so exciting to follow your new journey!! ❤️ cheers from Sweden😄
Thank you! Hugs to Sweden 🩵🩵
Much love💖💖
Thank you for that beautiful and important reminder that there is always enough! 🙏🏻💕
@@Exploravore 💖Yes there is the perfect place just for you💖
I was going to leave a long comment about travel and money then I realized you will learn what you don’t know by doing and no advice today will help. Just do it! I had some bumpy times in the three years I did travel but well worthwhile.
That’s so cool you travelled that long. And yes I’m sure I’ll learn a lot along the way, but that’s what life is for!! 😊
You are awesome and will be fine at whatever you do.... I can't wait for your new adventures....😎
Thank you so much! 🥰🥰
Thank you so much Katy! 🩷 Was your son in the military?
Yes he was in the navy stationed in Spain . We visited him there it’s an amazing country we loved it there.❤
@katylupien6700 that’s wonderful. And kudos to your son for serving 🙏🏻🙏🏻💕
@jessicaz.1901 Keep at it! 🌟🩵🌟
I hope you have a Surfskate because I get the vibe that you and Surfskating were made for each other and you are living in SoCal and you value fun. Blessings
Hmmm I’ve actually never heard of a surf skate!
Enjoy !!!
Cool I’ll check it out thanks!
DIY Monastery would be a good channel name :)
😄😄
Best of luck for finding a new place❤
Thank you Kerry! 🩷🩷
@markhines192 Thank you Mark 🙏🏻🩵
Diy monastery at home makes perfect sense to me since one of my mentors is a Buddhist monk. They are even more minimalist than you. I aspire to this level of simplicity.
@markhines192 Me too! I’ve spent a couple days at a monastery and the peace and simplicity of the monks is so beautiful and inspiring ✨
It will be fun to see your moving video.
Hopefully coming very soon! 😊😊
If you are interested in Norway and Iceland you'll be blown away by NZ especially the South Island. If and when you do make it down south please feel free to reach out if you like. Will be happy to connect.
NZ is on my list!
Love watching your videos, they inspire me to let go of the stuff i really don't need. Have you ever travelled to the UK?
Thank you!! 🤗💕 So I’ve been to Heathrow airport but that’s it lol. I want to see the Scottish Highlands very much!!
I also have a stuffed cat I will never get rid of it will always be one of my keep items that brings joy to my life haha 😆 ❤️
Yessss 🥰
I live in Sweden but I have worked in Norway. Norway is my second country! I love it! I went to Svalbard with friends a month ago. You have to visit Svalbard!
I can’t wait!! 😝😝
I think the "Universe" is getting you out of there because of the mold. I live
With my daughter and boyfriend. He loves furniture but my favorite time of my life is when I had no furniture. Travel when you can and just focus on a little place that doesn't need a lot of upkeep and you will do fine. I short out electronics😂. Maybe archeological work or being a park ranger, caretaker of vacation homes, there are unusual jobs out there so have fun and look around and know that mold is really bad and the "Universe" has your back!❤
YES! The Universe always has our back ⚡️🩵⚡️ And defff leaning towards furniture free 😼
I’m sure your Chanel will take off
It already is doing really well
Maybe do some travel type stuff around San Diego so we can see more of the most expensive place to live on earth
Ps: where I live for 2,300 a month you can have a big 4-5 bedroom home
Hahah yeah I know it’s insane here 🤣 But also insanely beautiful. I’ll def do some day trip vlogs. And thank you so much for the well wishes 🩷🩷
I'm sure somebody has said this in the 6 months since this video was published, but animal shelters and veterinary offices will take your old towels etc as bedding for animals!! No hygiene concerns there 😸
You are really inspiring me 🙏🏼
So glad to be. Sending light 🙏🏻✨🦋
Start you travelling journey asap. Was always my dream but then you meet someone with possibly different aspirations and it never happens! Speaking from experience but all is not lost for me. Almost 63 and 3 marriages later I'm now living in a studio with a camper parked outside and feeling relatively free!!
Today is the day to live your best life! Thank you, I appreciate your perspective 🩵🩵
spectacular visions
Have you thought about living in a van (#van conversion)? That's my dream for retirement, since my kids are not onboard with living in a bus idea 😥 Good luck!
So I think van life is super cool but it’s not for me. I don’t want to deal with maintenance and upkeep, and parking laws are so strict I don’t want to have to “hide” each night when I’m sleeping. I’d do it short term to see nature but not long term 🩵 Sounds like it would be awesome for retirement!
Ok... Maybe its time to come to Portugal. 😜
Europe is on the horizon!! 😎😎
we have fantastic beaches, forests, many villages and places to install wooden houses or container houses.
@RicardoSomeone Sounds amazing there 💜💜
For me and toddler, we can fit everything but the furniture and huge appliances into a car packed and in the car within an hour.
So inspiring you can do that with a little one! Bravo that is wonderful 🦋🩵🦋
@@Exploravore me and few others on here are out and about in the world, living by example that extreme minimalism is possible with kids, by respecting their own comforts and desires and joys whilst still having consistent and reliable boundaries and love x
@extrememinimalism I’m sure your kids are much happier as you are focusing on the things that truly matter 🩵🩵
Thank you for another great video.
Thank you for watching Dani 💕💕
Yes Bavaria is in the south of Germany and next to Switzerland 😅, it is very beautiful here,I'm going to annoy you as long as you're actually here😅😅😅😅😊
@FelixMuller-ox7yd 😄😄
Awesome plan.
😎⚡️🩵
I don’t know if you’ve seen any of Rebecca Sisson’s videos but she seems like a kindred soul to you (same-ish age, vegan, lives in Joshua Tree.) She was living out of her van when she first started her TH-cam channel, and working remotely as a marketer, I think?
I would love to see the extroverted introvert videos (as a former bartender/barfly who could happily spend weeks alone…well, with a dog anyway.)
Are you into MBTI stuff at all?
Good luck on the apartment hunt! I feel like you send out such good karma that hopefully it will come back your way. ✨
Awe thank you Amanda I appreciate that 🤗 And I’ve not heard of Rebecca- I’m on a media fast right now but I’ll check her out at some point thank you :) And not sure what MBTI is?
@@Exploravore it’s the myers-Briggs personality test of cognitive functions.…introvert v extrovert, thinking v feeling, etc.
@avbeasley Ah yes someone else mentioned this. I’ve heard of it but never tested.. Sounds interesting!
@minimalistmegansame here! INFP married to an INTP 🤷♂️
@minimalistmegan I will def take it sometime!
Keep following your heart and intuition 🤍✨ Those are beautiful intentions that you have 🙏🏻
