    Thank you for this video, very empowering! I never had a CCard because I like to live in the moment with my money. I always rented a studio for myself, bought cars, yes it's possible to live without it. I never borough money, never had debts. I'm a minimalist, very self-sufficient and I live a simple, peaceful, beautiful lifestyle. 💖

    People either have no concept of, or refuse to admit, that they can live with fewer wants. My husband and I paid off $145k in debt, on a gross yearly income that started at $42k and went to $52k, in 6.5 years (final pay-off was November of 2021). And that was with bringing two children into the world. I have actually had people online call me a “liar” 🙄. We made the choice to have a stay-at-home mother - so to gain that, we had to give up other stuff. And we did - we gave up a second car for over three years, I gave up a smartphone, we gave up going out to eat, buying new clothing, vacations... the list goes on. We paid off all our debt, then bought a home - and we are on target to pay that off within 5 years of purchase. People will sometimes get really angry about it, because they don’t want to admit that they don’t need to buy most of the things they do.

      Wow what a fantastic story and amazing example of perseverance to bring to the world. Congratulations! Yes it is absolutely about sacrifice and delaying “wants” but when you do this you step out of victimhood and take back your personal power. Good for you that is awesome! I hope a lot of people can hear your story ⚡️⚡️

    I’m trying to do this for myself. It has been a rough life for me and I’m still in debt. I had a substance abusing husband and wound up a single mom from the time our kids were 8 and 13. No child support and had to work a LOT for us to get by. My kids are grown now, but the youngest two, twins still live at home and trying to get through college. I have medical debt, a fairly small amount of credit card debt and an awful student loan I’m trying to tackle. I’m hoping that as they are now working and paying for a lot of their own stuff I can get out from under all this. Your video here is motivating. I’m doing the Dave Ramsey snowball method.

    • @Exploravore
      @Exploravore  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Oh man you’ve been dealt a stiff hand. That is a lot to tackle, but if you are strong enough to survive an unhealthy marriage and raise two children on your own, then I think you are strong enough to pull through this- it will just take some time. Keep plugging away with Dave Ramsey’s methods, and give yourself credit for every victory along the way, no matter how small. I wish you well on this journey Zoey, you can do it!! ❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥

    After listening to you a few videos back a light bulb went off in my head. Even though I pay my credit card bill off every month there was still that shock at the large balance due every month. And all for what… points?! So after 5 decades I have decided to just use the debit card. Seems so simple and yet why didn’t I think of it until you pointed it out? Looking forward to NO credit card bill in my future. Many thanks.

      Credit cards have much better protection against fraud than your debit card. It's much better to go with cash than a debit card as all it takes is for one person to steal your debit card number to drain your bank account. It basically boils down to the fact that banks don't have any financial incentive to deal with fraud claims unlike credit card companies, so by extension the credit card companies will proactively protect against fraud.

    • @Exploravore

    This is the third time I’ve listened to this video. I now live this way on my own and feel very proud. I feel internal power and strength knowing I am in charge of my money and my future.
    I came from a marriage that money was all the focus, it was never enough and the fight to get more. We kept falling into deeper debt, but he always promised more was coming just around the corner. He was always sure to spend every cent on my CC. It never happened and left us in a terrible way for many years, barely able to buy food freely. He left me to pay the debt but I learned a valuable lesson , never to happen to me again.

    9:00-9:02 🎯 you don't even realize how true this statement is. I became interested in stocks many years ago, and stumbled upon a small book that I bought, named "Put your money where your morals are" and the author went deep into some of the major stock companies and how incredibly corrupt and dirty the owners of those companies are, if you really do your research and trace them down to who is REALLY in charge of the companies. It was quiet shocking and did kind of kill that excitement and interest in stocks for me. I'm sure there are good companies out there, but those don't give quiet the same return on investment as the big oil companies and tech companies. When he talked about the oil companies and how incredibly lucrative the money is if you know which to buy, he mentioned that they all essentially can be traced to Saudi Arabia and the men in charge of them are also huge players in the human trafficking and sex slavery of woman. And us simple and naive folk who just want some sort of retirement funds don't usually dig DEEP into what they invest, and don't even know where that money ends up.

    • @VMR8648

      I believe owning real estate and renting it out is the better option if you want something that you don't have to worry about your money ending up in dirty hands of corrupt CEOs, and it does give you a sense of "helping others" by giving others a roof to sleep under. Just my thought. You should read Robert Kiyosaki's books!

    Great advice and refreshingly bold opinions. Each video I watch of yours the more excited I get on how much we align. I have always felt investing in the stock market is like going to a casino. Its a game slanted against you to make some rich guy more money. (by the way stay out of casinos!) My husband and I are very old fashioned with money, we own a house and a car with zero debt. We neither one have ever had credit cards, so it is possible it just takes a lot of sacrifice. One of the keys to our success has ALSO been choice of vehicle. Driving a 30 year old beater car. It works so who cares. The hardest thing is not comparing your "things" with the others around you. (Easier said than done, but true) Its not that they have more money than you necessarily, they are just spending more.

I put it in my bank account and thought nothing of it. The next time I took money out of the bank the teller got a concerned look on her face and told me I shouldn't keep the money in a checking account, I should invest it. I thanked her but told her I felt secure with it the way it was. Funny how everyone wants to tell you the "right" thing to do with your money.

      Yup that is a fun myth to bust :) And you can actually even buy a home without credit, as long as you have enough cash in the bank (you can do a legal process called underwriting to do this.) Dave Ramsey talks about this. You need to do a larger down payment, but this is better anyway because you will save on interest, and it keeps things more realistic as to what you actually can afford.

      @labecksf I think it’s definitely a good idea to have an “emergency” fund in savings for life things that eventually come up so you don’t get in trouble. A couple thousand or what feels right to you. Then when you have that, pour everything into attacking your debt. Because as long as you have debt, you really don’t actually have money (think about that…). Then when your debt is paid off, can aggressively start adding to your savings :)

    • @labecksf
      @labecksf 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for simplifying this. I was way over thinking it. This I can handle. I have the emergency fund. I can now pour it all into my car payment. and principal. I like your idea of saving up and putting a chunk towards the principal. I also have a sneak attack on it as well. If there's $20 or $40 I won't miss before the next paycheck, I'll make a principal payment on the car loan. I figure every little bit helps. @@Exploravore

    i have one credit card. my family have upwards of 5+ cards with several thousand dollar limit. it stressed me out to the point to where i developed ibs trying to work to pay off debt for shit i didn't need. i used to be a maximalist and spent several thousand dollars on bullshit every month. i gave up on all that shit, decluttered my life and my mind. i focus on enjoying nature and fixing things instead of focusing on the next new thing. i firmly believe money is the root of all evil. i lowered my credit card from 1000 dollars to 500 and i havent looked back. fuck consumerism. fuck our economy. i prefer to enjoy nature, growing things riding a bike and learning new skills like making things with my own hands. it makes me much more grateful for the things i have and less anxious to get the newest thing. i now enjoy a minimalist life. its truly makes my heart happy

      @@Exploravore so true! I’ve found my self struggling with a very important issue that you’ve made a video about and I’m afraid that it will cause my current relationship to break. Do you have any advice about someone thinking about not starting a family? If so if there a platform I could message you privately on?

    • @Exploravore
      @Exploravore  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @keylalopez5846 All I can say to that is it is absolutely IMPERATIVE that there is full open and honest communication from both partners, and clarity of what your desires are. As I said in my video, you would never want to take away someone’s dream of having a child, but you absolutely do not want to force someone into being a parent who does not want to be. The results for this are devastating. Leaving a relationship can be brutal, but compromising on this is worse.

    I think the scale of happiness has increased with inflation to £80,000 [$100,000].
    I currently sit at £16,800 a year as a solo mum not working, and with my low rent thanks to the council house system, feel like £2,000 a month [providing I stay in the flat I am in] after tax, would be my sweet spot. So even the £80,000 happiness scale, is still relative, depending on what you value. So for some people, they are even happier at like £50,000.

    • @Exploravore
      @Exploravore  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      For sure the number has gone up, and will absolutely depend on different household needs such as children or medical expenses etc. It’s not meant to be an exact figure, it’s more just to illustrate that after all bills are paid, expenses and needs met, and healthy leftover cushion for emergencies or fun things, the endless pursuit of “more” really doesn’t equate to more happiness: there is a law of diminishing returns.

    Hey just found your channel and I align with many of your values. The dollar itself is a fugazie. It is not real money. There is nothing backing the dollar so politicians can spend at will. To preserve your wealth please look into money like commodities gold/silver. Very hard times ahead. The real Bitcoin will save the world.

    • @Exploravore
      @Exploravore  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Thank you for that thought. I’m even more old school- the idea of “wealth” being in gold and silver is just as fugazie. Food, water, natural resources and love- these are the only things of true value

    • @Austin10
      @Austin10 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Exploravore yes those things have value but are difficult to store what you need for long periods of time. That is why civilization requires a money so we can specialize and do our own thing. Precious metals are a natural resource useful for many applications and used as money since the beginning of time. The point is fiat currency will eventually be worth nothing ie: hyperinflation.

    • @Exploravore

      @Austin10 agreed that is why my ultimate hope is to build an off grid home, grow as much as my own food as possible, and be as far out of the system as possible. Yes this is a much more difficult way to live but I believe we have lost touch in our humanity and connection to nature in the endless pursuit of “easy”..
