Brilliant bonnet redesign construction assembly - the welding, pipe clips and "catches" with loads of adjustment is genius! thanks very much for sharing knowledge, clever work arounds 🙏🏻
Really enjoying this build you both seem to be enjoying it so that helps 😂👍🏻👌🏼 Treat yourself to a bead roller for the boot floor fabrication it’ll help add strength to the floor panels.
Greetings from Ecuador! I have just started watching your series and is amazing how the car is coming together. True old fashion handwork! Btw in my country We call it capó, translation to spanish of bonnet. (sorry my english, im not a native speaker)
7:37 weld the remaining shortened piece to your fabricated frame right next to it. Always a good idea to think about improving the structure and tying it all together when doing these sorts of jobs. Edit : too late, the body has been cut short.
I’m really enjoying this build, I’ve dreamed of this exact same build myself and even nearly bought cheap Slk supercharged versions twice for this exact conversion, I’d love to know what you payed for your shell from Belgium or if there was any import duties, also where did you get the front grill from and the vent by the windscreen?. Cheers
A Finnish guy says hi from Andalucia where I've been living for the past decade. You may need a better bracing to give some strength to the bonnet structure. Bead rolling the edges of the metal plate might work, but it'll be hard to do due to the curvature of the bonnet.
This project shows the dividing line between a boy racer and a hot rodder. If you see a body kit on a Mercedes SLK, you’ve got a boy racer. If you see a Mercedes Gull Wing body on a Mercedes SLK frame, you’ve got a hot rodder.
Shazbot from the dark side of the moon, keep up the banter and great work gents

Perhaps you could weld some 6mm round steel bar to the inside edge of your bonnet stiffener to reduce flex in the bonnet..😊

Washington state. I was wondering, where did you get the grill?
I own a R170 SLK and i think its amazing what you are doing to one
Bonnet is called "Motorkap" in dutch
Awesome build
A pair of gas struts should stiffen it up when opening it.

We’re going to do something like that and also epoxy it to give it more strength when finalised
