A beautifully thought out and engineered kit. What a joy it is to watch a video which gets straight to the point, no fuss, no waffle, no wasted time a clear narration and detailed camera work. Well done guys.
Many thanks for your kind words, we filmed it with a young friend of my son who has started a career in film making. (I think he did a great job!) Just the two of us over a couple of days, with a hand from the Dowsetts team for any heavy lifting
Looking forward to starting mine now that I know it will only take me 47 minutes and 26 seconds! Very easy video to follow so compliments to those involved.
Just seen the Tipo on The Late Brake Show. What a fantastic kit you’ve designed, I’d love one but such a toy is beyond me, however, I wish you every success. Subscribed.
Here because of The Late Brake... I think anyone with an interest in engineering and of kit cars will appreciate the superb work you and your team have put into this kit. The fit and tollerances look so crisp and precise. You'd think they came from a multi-million £ manufacturing facility. I wish I could afford one.
I just became aware of this wonderful, well designed motorcar. I am simply taken with it, and applaud you guys for a masterful piece of craftsmanship! I live in the States and hope to afford this in the next year, unless a generous patron steps up to help me out!😁 You did a marvelous job of showing the step-by-step process, thank you for your efforts. Look forward to seeing the next kit from your company . (thank you also for helping to save the manuals!...God bless)
I just emailed the Dutch RDW to ask whether this car is elligable for a roadworthiness attest and a licence plate, If the answer is yes I'll start saving up for the kit. Great work!
Holy cow I just watched the full build. I'm blown away. This is fantastic. Obviously the older miata parts have been seriously refurbished, making the end result a new car. It's just incredible . . . As the original straight 8 had a supercharger, it would be cool if you offered a supercharger kit too
Notwithstanding all of the modern accoutrements, I must say that I am suitably impressed! ✔️ I have also just decided to grow a fraction of an inch, I am now 5' 10" a personal seat preference made my stature grow overnight.
Absolutely fantastic looking machine. I’m impressed with the beefy frame and the thought that has gone into establishing such a rigid structure that will also provide maximum passenger protection (in as much as is possible given the mission). Well done!
What a marvelous car. I dreamt of this all my life, as I like the looks of these racing cigars. And here it is!!! Reliable technology and a very well designed kit! Unfortunately the fund would directly end at the legal inspection. Driving through the alps with this car (and an old suitcase fitted to it as a trunk) would be soooo much fun!
It is an amazing video. Detail, depth, accuracy. An incredible effort to achieve concise and precise build information. As ex vehicle engineer was enthused immediately of ‘good ol days’. 1970 built Rochdale Olympic 2, however with sensible hat on wondered about homologation? Mud guards and todays ‘cotton wool’ world of health & safety. Thank you, for taking me back- may sales be your reward for a truly worthwhile project thought out and presented impeccably! 👏Amazing video and what a fantastic project👏.My wife and are planning to retire between 50-55. We are 41 at the moment and have always talked about building a kit car together. She use to have an Alfa 918 Spider (1998) and absolutely loved it. I think this is going to be the car for us (she seems to love it!)... so special, so beautiful and with enough Alfa homage. Great video and expect us to come to you in a few years time! 👍

How would you recommend going about cleaning the parts before assembly? Some of these MK2 MX5s will have quite a bit of surface rust/muck on the suspension etc. On that subject, maybe it would be an idea to make a video about the stripdown of the MX5.
Thanks for the question CH, we clean our major parts in a sandblast cabinet and things like nuts & bolts in a rust dissolving solution overnight before new zinc plating, painting or powder-coating. These services are available in many local businesses or customers may want to manually clean & paint by hand subject to time and budget
What an immaculate conception. Brilliant in every thought, design concept and assembly process. Mostly love the insignia my company logo and my dad's nose art on his Hawker Hurricane Cheers
Fantastic replica! Only thing I'd change might be the exhaust manifold with the two fake rear lateral pipes that mimics one for a six cylinder engine. I think that the car is so well engineered that it does not have to resort to faking the exhaust manifold as done.
Why install a six cylinder, the original Alpha Tipo 158 was an inline 8 cylinder? So either install an inline 8 or stick with the as-engineered Miat 4 cylinder, and if you want more power, then there are turbo or supercharger kits available for the Mazda BP4 engine...
I wish I could afford one, I would love to have a go at building one, great work on the design, it’s great to see under the skin how everything goes together and has been thought out

Simple. Beautiful. Beautiful apparent quality of the kit parts. Simply beautiful. Here in Australia, we're paying WELL above the odds for cars - a decent NB MX-5 is around $15,000 and then some. What I'm wondering is this: have your fun with the Tipo kit for the foreseeable, but keep your NB shell, & then, in the future depending on which car is worth the most in 20 years, put it back to stock. Is that nonsense? or should I just buy the rattiest low KM's NB Miata I can find... Hmm I want that Tipo184 though!

It´s great !! like teacher in school ! One question : If I will have my donor vehicle with continental steering (Left Hand Side) ,is possible to use it ? Probably not...
LHD donor will require a RHD steering rack, and a RHD Gas/brake pedal assembly (these are different on a LHD car) both we can supply used if required. The brackets on the front subframe are reverse for the LHD steering rack so these can be removed and welded back on in reverse or a new front RHD subframe acquired (we can supply also)
Question, the NB had a 5 speed and also a 6 speed in a version of it, are there any adaptations you have to do to get it to work with the 6 speed, or is it the same thing as the 5 speed
The 6 speed has a larger gearbox casing which reduces pedal & feet space in the cabin, conflicts with the bulkhead, floor & footplates and doesn't allow room for the battery tray. To be fair you don't really need 6 gears in a race car when you mostly work between 2nd - 4th You could build with the 6 speed but there are more disadvantages than advantages & with the larger wheel size of Tipo there's no real world ratio gain than the 5 speed
