Quick idea for Ben: he's been looking at a whole bunch of (mostly vintage) production guitars from different brands, which for sure must've been inspirational. What about a time capsule build where he builds his own concept of a vintage guitar (aka what if Ben had been a luthier in the 1950s/60s). He could do like the people at the time and build his own bridge/trem system or pickups out of "whatever he has around", like those people back then who couldn't use standard parts from other manufacturers simply because they didn't exist yet. This is part wishful thinking and part "I know they read the comments and he's insane enough to actually like the idea". I'm trying my luck!
On version 2 of this guitar, deconstruct the switches and pots and build working gear mechanisms that are visible and exploded. Turning a volume or tone nob would work a precise gear mechanism that would turn a remotely located exposed potentiometer within the body. If you designed all the switched and controls to overlap it would look like a working watch mechanism.
At first I thought the round Death Star-like patterns on the peal-away plastic covering the acrylic was a design pattern you drew. Glad to figure out it wasn’t. 😅
Ben, this finish on the wood edges is amazing. I am inspired to do the same on my next build. Could you answer this simple question: how much silicon carbide dust did you use? You mentioned 80grit, I think, is that correct? this build is going to be amazing. Cheers.
The condensed superedit vid went live first, on ggbo deadline day. Ben explained in that first vid the full build series episodes (these vids, that show more nitty gritty detail) would be following later - the reverse of what they usually do.
Great build, except that butt-ugly headstock that looks like a super cheap Starcaster strat from the 90's....that headstock actually bothers me. PLEASE fix it.

Great idea.
For the next horological build, put a gear driven B-bender in the body. It should be fairly easy to build.

Id love for you to work with alegree pickups. He has some really interesting pickup designs that would be cool to see in some builds
