  • The Title is clickbait ;)
My journey to a 2:15 marathon was tough. I thought about quitting many times. I would not made it through the dark times if it wasn't for some of my really good friends that always believed in me.
I didn't go to Junior College because of grades. I went there because i was on my own for college as i am adopted and my parents told me that i had to find a way to pay for college.
I’m proud to say i graduated 5 years of college debt free

to be honest, these breakdown videos are so awesome. in the future, i think a lot of people would love to see you break down future races/events you participate in, and even just your training blocks and anything you might be going through. its so cool to hear about your thought process and how things went in the moment and how you feel. to me, the longer the video, the better.

I had a similar college experience (though with education), and I paid for everything myself. I’m 48 years old now and I look back and I’m so thankful. It made me mentally and emotionally resilient and had no debt. I am an avid amateur runner and my resilience, learned from college experience, has helped me meet my goals. Talent will only get you far, personal strength will see you to the finish. Believe in yourself, because I believe in you.

Saw the bandit video of you joining Mantz and young for your trials block. I loved that so much I reached out to one of the fastest dudes I know to run with him. Thanks for the inspiration, and great video!!

Love your mindset, Habtamu. Complacency leads to nothing except regret. Believe in yourself, follow the process, and best of all, have fun doing it.

Great story! Really lets us know who you are in running.
Don't listen to the nonsense of goals that are too big. My goal in high school was to win Boston and the Games marathons. Not everyone gets there, of course, least of all me, but that was the end of the path I was on. And I went under 3 hours my first year of high school, so I did accomplish a few minor successes if not my ultimate stated goals.
OK Habs, on to bigger and better things!

Habs! I’m an active duty marine who still has college eligibility after my service years. You have motivated me to put down mileage and try for college again. I’m also struggling with set backs and injuries. Your story is so inspiring. Keep grinding.

Being hard is great for those who go and get it. Those who give up have complications with being hard on themselves. You’re a go getter .

Awesome story. I was wondering because I’ve recently been in the same situation when you discussed injury. I recently had a stress fracture in the foot and was wondering when you had your achilles injury how long did you keep up the biking after you began running again. While running did you integrate biking into your training for months after your injury or possibly years?
