Did this swap about 2 months ago, I just bought a whole xD and used basically everything including the dashboard. So glad I did it that way. Some fab work is needed for the dash bar and harness but it's still pretty easy to do if you have a little bit of time.
Did the Yaris feel different. I drive a 7 mile 35 degree hill and it's super slugish. Looking for NA torque upgrade. With Gas prices it's better than buying a V8.
09 Yaris, 2013 xD..it is honestly a whole new car. I used to own an 04 rx8 and I'm pretty sure my YARIS now would smoke it. Also, it still gets around 40 mpg.
I grabbed an 07 manual hatch last week for $300. Runs, drives, and is inspected. Needs windshield, and about 30% of clear coat is gone. And dam the battery has 1 inch of corrosion on half of it. I got it to teach my 15 & 16 year olds to drive manual If it survives, maybe I repaint and swap it myself. Only 140k miles
I have an '07 hatch diesel yaris with 270,000 miles on it and gotta say tinkering with it is not one of life's pleasures for me. Everything it just too tightly packed together.
You can use an auto ECU on a manual car but not the other way around, it'll throw codes of course but it'll get you started and going. Engine harnesses are the same except for the reverse light circuit, if you have a manual you can use an auto harness and transfer the reverse light wires over to your xD harness.
it may be pricey, but trust me, as someone whos also gonna attempt the engine swap this weekend and consistently works on the toyota vitz( the rest of the world version basically) an good impact driver really makes things easier and quicker
Please keep making more videos I have a Yaris myself and just got my type r headers only realizing I want more power from my Yaris now cause I also have a wrx
Don't know if you're keeping those brake components, but instead of putting the wheel back on to remove the axle nut, you can put an old screwdriver in the rotor slot to stop it from spinning
it has begun!!! Can't wait to see her back on the track. I haven't found a manual xD donor yet for my engine swap. My 5 lug conversion might happen first... 😅
@@thelifeoflostsoul if you want 5X100 grab the hubs from a Scion xD, if you want 5X114.3 use the 2nd Gen Scion xB (2008+). These are direct bolt on, but you’d have to press out the hub for the front from the Scion xB bearing housing.
I forgot to mention, I have rear disc brakes conversion, also I have the bigger front rotors from a Yaris SE, which are necessary for the 5 lug conversion I’m doing.
Very nice job :) ! 2ZR 2.5L are good engine and very reliable ! I have a 2zzge swap into my 03' Pontiac Vibe base ( was 1zzfe before) . So much fun to work on Toyota :) Good Luck mister !
I picked up a scion xd last year as a parts car in hopes of doing a 2zr swap but for now I'm gonna get as much out of the 1nz as I can. I just did a 2 inch 304 stainless exhaust with magnaflow mufflers and wow did that make a huge difference. Good luck on the swap I'm looking forward to the next video.
Hey for those axle nuts i would say for the cheap check out harbor frieghts cabled or cordless 1/2 impacts there about 100$ or if you find one in the return pile ,but you can gets those off without putting the car on the ground and wheels back on together
You should keep the yaris transmission with the xd motor since the xd 2nd and 3rd gear grinds as they age. Are you going to get camshafts from monkey wrench racing for the xd motor?
I've been wanting to do this same swap on my '07 Yaris, Hatchback for a few years now, but wasn't sure how hard it was going to be to do the wire harness modification for the addition of a harness leg for the transmission speed sensor. My car still has the U340E automatic and I was planning on keeping it since it's my daily driver. I also wasn't sure if it would be easier to get a '08-'13 Corolla donor car or the Scion xD. It's my understanding that you need the xD motor mount, air box, MAF sensor, ECU, engine harness, engine, timing cover mount bracket, alternator, A/C compressor and the the exhaust midpipe. Probably not if you put a header on though.
So I plan on doing this but having a hard time finding a manual 4 door Yaris around me. I plan on buying a full XD for the swap can I use the xd pedals and shifter to make an auto Yaris manual?
Let’s talk about that 1NZ… are you willing to sell it? I have a 2000 Echo with almost 300k miles and it’s burning oil like crazy so I’m thinking about replacing it instead of rebuilding it. I want to hot rod it but that’s a project for the future. Can’t remember if you modded it but I don’t mind, and since mine is A/T it would be a good opportunity to manual swap it as well. Let me know so we can talk. Keep them videos coming!
Really depends on what level of work you're willing to do. If you're talking about internals then you might be right, but as far as bolt-ons, the 2ZR has plenty of support. I found more flash tuning options for the 2zr than I have for the 1nz. Also just starting with 40 more horsepower and 40 more torque means that I have to do a lot less.
@@RassoolRacing yeh I mean if you went balls to the wall, ethe 30hp more to begin with is good, but you’ll gain a lot of speed on track by using the super short transmission for the 1nz (c56). I wonder if the c56 would fit the 2zr, if so that would be a much faster car compared to the economy box originally fitted.
@@Bradley0beaver I've got the C50 transmission but with the first gen xb's 4.3 final drive. That should supposedly fit the 2zr, but we'll find out soon.
@8:25 instead of installing tires. Use a pry bar or something long enough to hold the brake down against the seat.

How much of a difference did it end up making?

Happy to see the progress. Mines getting swapped as we speak.
Nice! I am waiting the Razool swap to see if thats the one or I prefer to build the 1.5 with a turbo.... Not sure yet

Would be nice for you to take apart engine to see what's broke
Nice!new yaris vid!
Are you going to be parting out the nz If so, I would like to grab some parts off of it.
Namely the intake manifold 👀 and all its bits
Could I get details on the headlights, like, how much were they, how good are they, where to get them?
Just subbed. You going to seam weld the front end?

Also are you going to bar the vehicle or will it be track use only Armstrong was able to bar his but that was 7 years ago
Are you moving the battery to the back?
I've had a braille battery in the back for about a year now. It's great! But I do need to clean up the wiring

Can the engine swap be done keeping the Yaris Automatic tranny or if I get XD that Automatic transfer both? LA traffic sucks ..
