Hey, not expecting an answer but would be great if you did. Looking into getting an Apple TV 4K, but I’m hesitant to jump onto the train as I mostly use MKV files. When using local network due you experience any lag or loss of quality compared to streaming something directly in 4k on Netflix for example? Would I be able to use my cheap laptop just to host the server and have a great 4k experience using VLC on the Apple TV or should I just go with an android streaming device that has a dedicated USB port. Sorry for the long comment, thanks for the video I couldn’t find any info until seeing this. Keep up the good work 💪
I don't mind the comment thanks for viewing I answer the general questions you have here: 1: th-cam.com/video/j4Pv_Gzm_QQ/w-d-xo.html 2:th-cam.com/video/j4Pv_Gzm_QQ/w-d-xo.html In terms of network performance that depends if you have your own modem and router and what internet speeds you're paying for.
Great video and explanation I was looking for something like this. I have a question, in the remote playback section in the url bar can I add a movie streaming website link to play it in Apple TV, coz I don’t want to screen mirror the safari browser all the time while watching movie.. thanks Im planning to buy Apple TV, so looking for options on how to play some movies and anime on Apple TV which I play in safari/brave
In the network stream you can enter a url to play. For ease of use I suggest looking into a Bluetooth keyboard so when youtr typing it's alot easier but vlc gives you the option for sure.
Many thanks, works well both network and remote. super happy... Suggestion, you should make it bold about where to put the IP adress when using "remote"... yes in your pc but that's not too clear. Cheers and many thanks for your support / M
Thanks for explaining how to use VLC. I was able to play my videos through Remote Playback but I can figure out how to get my Local Network to work. When I try and log in, I get an error message that says "please provide a username (ideally a domain name using the format DOMAIN;username) and a password." I have tried the user name and password that I use to access my locked computer screen and my Mac user name and password in a multitude of different combinations but still can't log in. Can you tell me what username and password it requires and how to configure it plz?
Bro, thanks for the video. I was able to add and delete videos through "Remote Playback" and after a point of time Im unable to add more videos on to the VLC app on my ATV 4K. Giving me an error that I have reached the storage limit. Despite long pressing the file and deleting the videos manually, im still getting this error whenever I try to upload a video. Any idea how to proceed from here?
Thanks for viewing, have you tried to uninstall and reinstall the application? And what's the storage cache on your device? May be a glitch or perhaps something else...
Thanks Pein, for the video! That was my hesitation before getting myself an apple tv 4k. I still need to know if you think vlc is the best media player on apple tv and I guess you didnt cover the bluetooth low audio issue. Maybe VLC audio playback is high enough but I still dont know how I can increase bluetooth audio on ott apps. Another question I have is if native webos entertainment apps are better in picture and audio qality when viewed on apple tv? thanks again btw
Thank you, the best media player is rather subjective vlc will get you from point A to B. In terms of Bluetooth audio that's depends on your specific device the max volume will usually be based on the device itself rather than the app on a device you're using. Native apps on tv serve a purpose vs dedicated devices but it's all personal preference, I'll address it in a video.
@@pein3480 Yeah my audio setup is just a pair of Bluetooth headphones and speakers. Im thinking of either getting a dac amp driveable headphone or xm5 headphone
May I please ask you a question. I've set up VLC on my Apple TV and its asking for a User, PW, and Port number? Does it want my Wifi pw or the one I sign into my computer? Can you help me?
You didn’t explain anything about how to actually add a server. I’m clicking on add server on ATV and it’s doing nothing.
Incredible video brother. Thanks for sharing. Keep the content coming. Hope you have an incredible weekend. Much love and RESPECT
Appreciate it Tim

@@pein3480 you don't need a Bluetooth keyboard, your iphone, if you have one, can use to type in.
The remote playback is a nice feature, I didn't know about. Thanks.
You're welcome
Thanks for the video! A question, it is possible to connect a hard drive and play videos directly?
You're welcome and it's not possible this a pure streaming based media player.
Great video bro
Appreciate it 🙏
This worked fantastically, thanks.

Thanks for the video! Is there anyway to play a file on a loop?
I'm not sure if that setting is included I'll look into it though thanks for viewing.

looks cool does it support Subtitles srt files? in local or remote?
Don't see why not, I haven't used it in awhile to test for myself if not there's other player options out here.
Do you have any apps better than vlc to watch my own videos in storage of apple tv 4k?
Search apple tv, emby, or infuse on my channel that will give you more options.

Work great but usually deletes the file on the app after a few plays.
That’s strange, have you tried reinstalling the application?
@@pein3480 No should maybe give it a try. Thought it was a storage issue, but I have a 32GB device. Maybe ram on the Apple TV?
How to get fully access to the movies I mean do I have to pay for every movie

You’re great! Thanks.
Does it correctly playback DV8?
No.
will this play at full quality ?
It will play your 4k rips however it doesn't support bitstream for things like DTSX or Dolby Atmos
@@pein3480 gotcha thank you

It says "Empty Folder", I'm not sure how to add the server.
just use the remote playback feature and drop the file you want to see.
there’s no atmos support 😂
Lol ok 👍
Thank you !
