When I exit the VLC app in apple tv to do something else while I upload files using remote playback the upload stops and it says fail. Is there a solution in order to have the uploads in remote playback to run in the background just like you have?

not using VLC, but there are file managers you can use to send items over to your android boxes...X-Plore App is one you can use
