I can’t thank you enough for putting me on to Infuse.. i had plex years ago but the whole server thing put me off… this app on the other side is amazingly simple and easy to use… all without a server!!
Rock Solid App. Lots of new features added on a regular basis. Great to see all your content show up across Iphone, Ipad, Apple TV, And Imac. Can handle all codecs I throw at it. Incredible App. Well worth paying for the full version.
Giving this a try as plex has a lip sync issue that sometimes shows itself on my Apple tv. No problems on Infuse so far, and full screen fan art on movie pages is awesome 👍
Infuse macOS client is Apple Silicon native while Plex is still not more than 2 years after the M1 came out! The audio limitation due to Apple TV is annoying but hopefully Apple removes this limitation so Atmos and DTS:X audio are possible. Right now as AFAIK the Nvidia Shield is the only device that allows Atmos and DTS:X 7.1 audio to pass through.
The Fire TV is getting pass through, but I'm not a fan of that device in general. Infuse is great though and the overall Mac ecosystem support is excellent.
Thanks for doing this video and introducing us to some new options that maybe hasn’t been talked enough about. I’ve been a physical media guy ever since I gave up in ripping many many years ago but with some advancements in that front, I’m really considering doing so again. Will definitely be open to more options the better.
That is my only grip with Apple, is not allowing bit streaming. Good video, been using Infuse for years, bought the app out right. I tend not to use it too much anymore. I basically run Apple tv through out my house, but in my main home theater area, I have a Shield and an Apple TV. I just use the Plex on my shield for casual movies & TV. I'm also playing with a Zappiti right now as well, and I typically use that for serious movie watching. Thus, the great home theater dilemma raises it's head again, too many source devices ( I'm the king in this department ).
LOL, "too many source devices", I'm right there with you. Did you see my other recent video? :) I think it's worth sacrificing some features for simplicity and peace of mind vs. having too much stuff driving paradox of choice, complexity, and so on.
Interesting video. At present I have all my old DVDs ripped into Plex. Might give this a try on my Apple TV in my theatre. Would like to get to a point where all my discs are ripped, but at present I don’t have a drive capable of doing it on a computer.
I love infuse. It does everything I need on the free version. But I would in a heartbeat buy the lifetime license if you had the ability for separate libraries.
This is exactly what i seem to have been looking for, just got the new Apple TV previously using VUZE as a media server to connect to smart TV. Going back to ripping due to studios adjusting and cutting old movies to fit current ideologies. I want a store of the originals and you can get batches of DVDs for £s now.
Infuse is very impressive. I have a very old server with only 256mb memory. When I play some large 4k movie files on my minix U22 android box using kodi the movie buffers every 5 seconds or so but there is no such problem with Infuse on the Apple 4k box. Also my tv does not have Dolby vision, when I watch on kodi the colors are incorrect but infuse corrects them (not sure if it is running in HDR10) which is nice too.
While watching the video, I installed the app on my iphone and started a trial month. All this, to be prepared for my ordered AppleTV. Then I came to the part, where you speak about the lack of bitstream. After that I cancelled my order and the infuse trial. Deal breaker :(
Thank you for the beautiful and valuable explanation I have a question: The internet is disconnected most of the time for about a minute. Does this affect Streaming ?
Do the HDR movies need to be in a specific format/container etc. to be played on an Apple TV4K? I tested some HDR files with a Jellyfin test server on my PC but none of them could be played back in their new Jellyfin app on my Apple TV.
If possible, can you please make a video showing step-by-step instructions on how to share content from one device to another? Right now, I use Infuse 8, and I have this app on my iPad and MacBook. However, I can not understand how to share all my movies from my Mac to my iPad, and I also want to buy the Apple 4K 128GB version. So, can you help me or people like me understand how to do that?
Hey I am a new subscriber I just wanted to thank you for this awesome video it helped me figure out how to stream my local video library from my Zidoo to my Apple TV it was so simple and works really well.
I wish you’d show how to do the sharing on your NAS. I just have all the movies stored on my computer and use the server plex but I’d rather just have it come from my computer. How did you get that to stream from your NAS?
Hmm, you'd need something to take the movies with you in terms of storage as well. If you have a nice TV and audio system in the RV, I'd actually consider a Kaleidescape Strato V as a nice choice, assuming you can reliably access the bandwidth you need to download movies overnight or you fill it with 10+ movies at home before you start your trip. I'm happy to chat about that if you like - jaremy@techthusiasm.net.
Yes, Infuse does support the home row, I found out, if you have the "Up Next" setting turned on. I usually keep that turned off, hence I had no home row information.
In considering buying the new Apple TV4k and I something I love from related media servers like Plex and Jellyfin is that they have a “Related” “Similar” movies section, usually below the movie that I clicked on. I really love that for movie discovery or for watching simula movies. Does this app have this feature?
On a given movie page, Infuse does you other movies, yes. But they are movies from the list the current category, not specifically other miscellaneous movies like the one you are viewing.
@@Techthusiasm thank you for your response, hopefully Infuse adds that feature or option in the future. Also, does buying the Life-Time Pro version of Infuse guarantee me all future Infuse versions, say Infuse 8, 9..20 or is it just only 2 or so generations of the app that Life-Time owners will receive?
Here is what they say about the lifetime: Updates for life 7.5 NOW AVAILABLE! Get access to all future updates - even major releases like v8, v9, etc... with a subscription to Infuse Pro.
I have South Park on a USB plugged into my tp-link router. Infuse isn’t showing all of the seasons. I’m using the free version. Is there an individual file size limit? I’ve had all the seasons working in infuse before but had to redownload from different sources. VLC also is not showing these files. Any tips? Edit: in case it helps: ATV 4K w/ black Siri Remote, AX11000 router with the “ftp file sharing” being the way I access the media.
Good stuff I use Apple TV 4K and Infuse, About the multi chan. LPCM vs Bitstream, if the end result is the same (lossless audio), why do we (OCD people) "need" the "bitstream" ? Only to light the AVR's display to show the "super duper DTS w00w0w)? Does this only feed our OCD (it must be better) LOL This is interest topic, reply your thoughts 🤓
Thanks! The end result is the same as long it's up to a 7.1 audio. If the audio is Atmos or DTS:X, then you do lose that information when changing to and outputting PCM, which is a bummer.
LPCM is lossless, Atmos is lossless + metadata. So you lose the metadata, you dont lose quality, you lose positional information. The positional information is key to the best surround sound experience, its not just the fact your AV receiver doesnt light up for your OCD. It literally sounds different because your lacking audio positioning in a 3D space.
Does the infuse or the apple TV transcode the movie file, could i have a movie file on a separate nas with no transcoding capability connected to the apple TV and play the movie?
Just investigating Infuse. Excellent overview. I subscribed. Would like to use this on a QNAP NAS. Any tips on where I have ripped a movie to multiple CDs? Have not ripped in years so I have a bit of catching up to do.
Thanks. Been looking for a solution to get my movies to my Apple TV. Most of my DVD rips i did as (.VideoTS). I don't want to point to a running laptop. So I either need these files on a NAS or iClould? Also is there and would it pay to upload my huge collection to a cloud service?
Infuse can access data off cloud services, so if you don't have that much to store, it would work quite well. If you used Handbrake to re-encode the DVD rips to MP4 files, you could also probably put them in iCloud. Lots of options actually.
Thanks for the vid. I can't get Infuse to see my TV Shows. If I go to my "library name" and click "TV Shows" (my folder I have pointing to it), the series shows. The TV shows only show up there and if I enable "On Deck" area. Any ideas? Also, how did you get the playlist to show the order it came out?
Hmm, not sure on any special settings for TV content. The playlists I use are all custom built by adding movies to specific playlists and then arranging them in my preferred order per list. You can to do playlist management on any Infuse app, but I usually do it on my Mac for easier input and then it syncs to the Apple TVs.
Hmm, Infuse will play content from cloud storage sources. I'm not sure though about accessing your own content remotely like Plex can. I'd have to investigate that to find out.
Late to the party but I personally have a lot of my media uploaded to my Dropbox and thusly can playback from there whenever I’m away from home, full support for metadata and trailers and everything. It even supports downloads on the phone for when you want to economise on your data usage.
So which audio format does the app not support? I kept hearing on multiple videos that it doesn’t pass through something on some files. Something about lossless audio and atmos…
Dolby Atmos and DTS:X are not able to be output by Infuse/Apple TV. It can support everything else. It will just decode those other formats to 7.1 PCM first.
I am using, plex, emby and jelyfin servers. The problem with infuse, if I understand it correctly, is that it has to sync the database which is annoying. Isn't there a mode where you can access any of tese servers directly in the same way as emby, plex and jellyfin does?
The meta data is kept local and synced through iCloud. So if you access Infuse on ATV, iPad, iPhone, and so on it's all one database kept in sync and refreshed automatically in the background when you use or launch the app. Infuse can actually access a Plex server though too directly, I believe.
The Atmos situation is a deal breaker. I’ve just purchased a 4K TV and Atmos soundbar. The plan now is to stick the plex app on the TV. Should then get Atmos I’m guessing. The question is whether the TV will be capable of direct playing the media since it won’t be anywhere near as powerful as the Apple TV. I replaced my 10 year old gear thinking that it would be easy with the latest gear. It’s anything but, it certainly doesn’t just work. Feels like I’ve still got 10 year old components
Quick question, when you have media on your mac I try to play from my Apple TV but I need to leave my laptop open in order for Infust to work. Do you know of any solution which could help me with this. I am just using my local PC so I think it needs to be streamed from somewhere.
There isn't formal/menu/meta data support for extras AFAIK. You'd have to just access them from a folder browsing, so you still can play them in Infuse. Here is info from their forums: "you could place these in a separate folder and simply set this as a folder based favorite, and uncheck it from the Settings > Library menu. This will allow you to access the folder from the home scree, but the contents would not be listed inside the Library."
I'll have to look into this specifically. My general use case is in my theater where only HDR10 matters, but I have this also set up in living room of course with the LG G2. I'll try it out.
Hi I have infuse pro and until recently I been using the app with plex as client thanks to that I was able watch mi content even outside my local network. But after your another video I changed using SMB sharing. I must admit it's faster and even artwork is nicer but is the possibility watch my content outside my local network like with plex?
Infuse won't get you outside local network access to a file server like Plex does. That's a plus for Plex if you use it that way. Infuse would let you download content from the server to take with you. So that's one option. Or I guess you'd need some kind of VPN perhaps with Infuse and that might work. Check out their site and forums and do some searching. Overall though, I think Plex provides superior remote access.
I understand the use case if you have a low resource NAS and running a plex server isn’t feasible. However, I can’t figure out the benefit of using this with a plex server other than you really like the infuse UI which isn’t all that dissimilar to plex.
I don't feel that Plex offers my any features that I really need over Infuse. So need for me to administer the Plex server, especially since I'm all Apple ecosystem here.
I am curious to see how infuse works with adult content? With Plex I can use open source metadata agents, is that possible with infuse? Managing thousands of movies without having to type a single keystroke other than making file name changes is a time saver for me.
Hello I’m having problems with my infuse on Apple TV 4K. I have my movie library in infuse app on my iPad. And I wanted to play it on my Apple TV 4K. I added the library to my Apple TV but I am not able play any contents. It keeps telling me error loading this content. Am I doing something wrong or can you guide me how do I play my content on my Apple tv. Thank you so much. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
I don't think content stored on the iPad will share to another device through Infuse. You would need that content to live on a device where a network share is published.
Have you ever had an issue where files seem to be repeated? I have a decent sized library around 700GB and some movies show up 3-4 times even though only one folder/file exists on the server. Same goes for some tv shows, it will show the media card for a show for EVERY episode, while other shows have one, with all episodes listed inside. Both shows I mention, the ones that repeat, and the ones that don't share the same folder structure. Any ideas, it's so messy?
I seem to have issues with Infuse and my Apple TV 4K playing HDR content. There is about an 8 second delay when I press play, scrub, or skip to another chapter. I don’t have any issues when playing HDR on my phone.
New follower on the channel. Enjoying the content 👍🏻 Got the ATV 3rd gen for Xmas. Have been a long-time user of the Shield 2017, but I have added the ATV for the auto refresh option. I watched a movie using the infuse app from my plex server. Is it just me, or does Infuse amplify/boost the audio a bit? I checked if the boost function was off, and it was. Tried playback on the plex app + on my Shield after the movie ended. Not the same amplification/boost of the audio. Usually I would always go bitstream, but wanted to try the ATV for my Plex. Strange that Infuse alters the sound levels, but Plex on ATV and Shield sounded pretty much identical.
Apple TV - Huge limitation for lossless audio. Plex and Nvidia Shield handle this properly. I'm willing to forego some quality in relation to streaming shows/movies, but not for media on my local network. The Apple TV is a good streaming device, but a poor all-round media serving device. Nvidia Shield (with Plex) is a great media service device for local media, but a less competent streaming device. Local media should always be in the best quality form possible while streaming movies/shows has compromises with respect to quality - lossy audio offered on most streaming services and artifacts from compression and lower bit rates or downsampling, e.g. Netflix reducing the streaming quality curing the Covid 19 lockdown.
Apple 4k tv now has lossless audio format deep in the settings menus. It automatically resorts to High quality audio and you have to manually switch it to lossless. I just found that out today after 7 months of use lol.
@@PhilGoodzGaming Yes, but is it multi-channel or is it pass through? That is, will it show up as Dolby Atmos or simply multi-channel? Also, I'm not sure how much I would trust a VPN allowed by Apple through its app store. What compromises did these VPN providers make in order for Apple to allow them? I'll stick with NVIDIA Shield TV for the time being. I don't trust Apple to do what's good for the consumer. All it cares about is its bottom line.
Well I just tried infuse and … it “almost” works? I ripped to an mkv an episode of Andor, which per the box, has Dolby Atmos soundtrack. Took the one English 7.1 soundtrack and put it with the subtitles into an mkv. (Man a way to preview /scrub the video would be great inside mkv to identify episodes ). On the AppleTv 4K I made sure I had the switches flipped to show Dolby Vision and Atmos if available. Then playing back the episode through infuse in the Appletv4k to my Sony AVR (which is a 2024 AZ3000ES ) I checked out what was reported. HDMI signal info the receiver would show “on screen” in the info was LPMC 7.1, but the VFD display on the front of the receiver didn’t display Atmos, but Neural:X instead. So something still isn’t working there.
Infuse will not bitstream audio due to tvOS/hardware limitations, so the best you can get out of it is losslessly decoded PCM 7.1. The Atmos or DTS:X data is not passed. It's been this way forever, and we hope someday it will change. The reason you saw "Neural:X" is because your receiver was applying an immersive audio up mix to the PCM 7.1 signal. This still make good use of your immersive speakers.
@@Techthusiasm yep I figured that. It’s annoying the Apple TV audio setting says “Atmos if available” when they know damn well that Atmos isn’t allowed out of apps. I’d suggested that Apple is misleading people in that setting , and got nothing but “no they are not” responses along with all the qualifications that really should require an asterisk next to that audio - Atmos setting. So the AppleTv4k will stay just dvd mkv playback box till Apple fixes it for me.
Great video! I’ve used Infuse 6 for years and am now considering buying the lifetime Pro version. Do you have the ability to copy the movies/shows to your Mac/iPhone in the App? Can you use the Infuse App on multiple Apple TVs on the lifetime subscription? Thanks 😎
I have lifetime and use it on 2 Apples TVs, my iPhone, iPad, and Mac, so yup! Yes, as well, I believe you can download content to any of the devices using it.
Question, how do i "log in" with the app on apple tv. I have the app set up on MacBook but wanted to know how it will recognise my MacBook contents through apple tv. I saw there are share connections but no way to log into my account or MacBook to recognise whats on there.
You don’t have to log into Infuse. Just log into the Apple TV itself with the same Apple ID and you’ll be all set. Library settings and config will sync over iCloud.
@@Techthusiasm I am still confused. I have it all working on my MacBook but tried downloading it on my apple TV and it just has settings or add network.
You shouldn't need to do any encoding. Infuse will play the native file formats from your rips. I don't recommend re-encoding or trans-coding HD or 4K content anyway. Only DVD perhaps.
@@Techthusiasm if you have a Apple products in home, like Mac, Iphone or Apple TV then Infuse is a no brainer, the price is also pretty acceptable in comparison to plex. and the NAS also doesnt need to be powerful for live-transcoding
@@Techthusiasm I do have a question, im looking for a solution for home, just a play media server, so either I get an Apple TV + this nice software and use the existing NAS, so my kids have a nice similiar UI to Netflix which I want to get rid off, or I get a new NAS which would support Jellyfin or Emby
Would you mean to play content directly off the NAS itself? Some have HDMI output and function as players. I'm not a fan of going that route. I just want my storage to be storage, not a source. I'm partial to voting for the NAS + Apple TV option, especially if you want to access the NAS content on multiple TVs or other devices.
Hey I've been running a similar setup, I'm just starting out with ripping though. I'm currently running Infuse on my ATV 4K's and with a single external 3TB HDD to my router. Do I need some specific specs on a NAS to handle transcoding or does Infuse Pro and ATV 4K eliminate that need? If I can I would like to just spend a few hundred on upgrading to a little bit older used Synology NAS.
Infuse doesn't transcode, and I wouldn't recommend wanting to transcode for local playback off a server/NAS. Just play the straight rips naturally. Infuse will on an ATV will do that.
@@Techthusiasm Thanks. So, does that mean I do not need to worry about transcoding if I'm using straight rips and watching locally? Even if the kids are trying to watch on an iphone of ipad?
Great video, I am contemplating on using this app since my living room setup is only 5.1 with no atmos but for my theater room I just use Nvidia Shield. Have you though about zidoo media player because apparently it plays all types of files which seems interesting.
Yeah, I'm familiar with Dune, Zappiti, and Zidoo. I've owned multiples Dunes and Zappitis in the past. I'm considering these again, but they have their cons and failure points.
Best really depends on what you value most. Some might call a high end Zappiti the best, but it still can be a bit of a sluggish and buggy device. I talk about Apple being best for me because I value the Apple service integration and other features. Other prefer a Shield. A HTPC will let you use MadVR software on your rips, but is expensive and complex. Everything has a trade-off. Let me know what features or capabilities you need or value the most in a player.
The only thing Infuse gives up is Atmos/DTS:X bit streaming, yes. That could be a dealbreaker or not depending on your situation. You still get uncompressed audio output, but only up to 7.1 channels.
In the Infuse settings, you point Infuse to your server, NAS, or network shares where your movies are stored. Then it indexes them and presents them for playback.
The app itself, if I recall correctly, is free, but you pay to unlock features with Pro. I bought the lifetime a while back, so I don't recall specifics.
Hi, nice video. Couple of questions: I am curious what video formats are supported on Infuse. 1. I saw in your video, for audio was TrueHD, does it support Dolby Atmos? Does it support Dolby Vision? 2. Which software are you using to rip the movies? Thank you for your reply.
Hi! 1. TrueHD and DTS tracks up to 7.1 will get turned without loss into PCM up to 7.1 Atmos and DTS:X are not supported. You just get the core TrueHD and DTS-HD MA from them as PCM. 2. I understand that Dolby Vision in MKV is supposed to work, but I have not tested it. I will have to do so in another video. 3. I use a MakeMKV. Check out another video on the channel. th-cam.com/video/clIrFOvOmIc/w-d-xo.html Thanks!
In the app under settings is where you add content sources of different types. If it is not seeing your server, it could be a network issue. What kind of server is it? I might do a more dedicated how to coming up on connecting Infuse to my Synology.
@@Techthusiasm Thanks. I figured it out. It's working like a gem now. I have Plex and Emby, and this is so much easier to set up, and doesn't cost $100.
Hmm, I'd have to look into that. I've only ever really used one profile with it. Just to be clear, do you mean in the Infuse app itself or within tvOS?
Hello, as infuse is paying and I read that you couldn't switch from one local user to another with plex in the forums which dates back 2 years, I was wondering if this function is now available with infuse on the Apple TV. Thanks!
New sub here, thanks for the content. Does this app give you the ability to play trailers? Sometimes I'm not sure what I want to watch so trailers act as a reminder, especially if I haven't watched it in a long time. Thanks, I'm looking to set up a NAS system like yours and rip my collection based on your past posts. :-)
Welcome to the channel and thanks! Hmm, come to think of it, I don't believe it lets you play trailers. That would be a nice feature too to go along with more meta data options. Let me know if you have any questions on doing the server setup.
Yes, this app (Infuse) is for playing local media/ripped movies and stuff. Apple purchases from iTunes don't stream or play in lossless audio. Hopefully someday they will.
It looks like a nice option for Apple TV users like me but my Plex is all setup and pointing to my server. Too much work to move. Thanks for showing the options out there.
Actually there is hardly any work involved at all. You can use Infuse as a Plex client. Just point it to your Plex server and it will use all of it's metadata. You can still use the Plex client as well (which I do mostly for TV-Shows that only have Dolby Digital audio tracks) and use Infuse for streaming lossless audio from your Blu-ray rips. Perfect solution, and since you're using Plex the watched status of your movies gets synced across both apps.
Infuse supports a Plex server as a content source. So if you want to manage your content with Plex, but use Infuse as the client/player, it’s possible and pretty easy to do. You should be able to add the Plex server to Infuse just like any other source or network share. Maybe I’ll show this how to in a future video.
Infuse plays locally served content in a way that Kodi plays locally served content. I have no idea on streaming "free" stuff. That's not something I'm into nor would I intend to cover on the channel.
It depends I guess on what apps you use off your phone or tablet and what kind of packaging and codecs your content is in. I think relying on Airplay would be more limited than using Infuse on the Apple TV itself.
The future is now! :) The app does actually support the home row, but you have to have the Up Next line of the UI turned on in the settings and then it will appear up above on the home screen. I don't use the Up Next so I didn't see anything up there.
I’ve connected my Google drive share via my Mac and it will play fine on the mac from that. It won’t find google drive in the available shares section….just keeps spinning and never finds it. Any thoughts?
Hmm, I did use Infuse to access a Google drive longer ago, but I don't know if anything has changed with it since then. I'd suggest posting to their support.
@@Techthusiasm I meant to say that my Apple TV wouldn’t populate any shares when I went to add one. Magically this morning it shows it now. What a great program , love the interface !

Send it to them as a suggestion.
Make a video for setup because unless I download content to iPhone it’ll upload when the idea is supposed to stream from my cloud
Thank you for the beautiful and valuable explanation
I have a question: The internet is disconnected most of the time for about a minute. Does this affect Streaming ?
Infuse would generally be playing from a local server inside your house, so internet connectivity shouldn’t affect it.
Do the HDR movies need to be in a specific format/container etc. to be played on an Apple TV4K? I tested some HDR files with a Jellyfin test server on my PC but none of them could be played back in their new Jellyfin app on my Apple TV.
Most folks rip to MKV-files for this purpose using MakeMKV.
This is mind blowingly awesome! Way better than Plex as an Apple user. Thanks for the video!
You're welcome!
That's great! I love when folks take some real value out of my videos. Enjoy!
I wish you’d show how to do the sharing on your NAS. I just have all the movies stored on my computer and use the server plex but I’d rather just have it come from my computer. How did you get that to stream from your NAS?
Noted.
What about taking movies on the road. Like in our travel trailer?
Hmm, you'd need something to take the movies with you in terms of storage as well. If you have a nice TV and audio system in the RV, I'd actually consider a Kaleidescape Strato V as a nice choice, assuming you can reliably access the bandwidth you need to download movies overnight or you fill it with 10+ movies at home before you start your trip. I'm happy to chat about that if you like - jaremy@techthusiasm.net.
Been using pro for quite awhile now. Love it so easy to use.
Totally agree!
I got the pro upgrade and it has the content home run up top on the Home Screen with everything up top
Here is what they say about the lifetime:
Updates for life 7.5 NOW AVAILABLE!
No limits. I'm not sure that Infuse will see FTP shares though. Does the router allow SMB sharing?
@@Techthusiasm it does! I was ignorant and didn’t look because I assumed that was the Samba Windows protocol. I’ll look into it now thanks dude!
@Techthusiasm why do some of the movies have an orange triangle in the corner and some dont?
Unwatched content is flagged with the triangle.
Does the infuse or the apple TV transcode the movie file, could i have a movie file on a separate nas with no transcoding capability connected to the apple TV and play the movie?
You could play in Infuse from a Plex server and get transcoding, I believe.
Just investigating Infuse. Excellent overview. I subscribed. Would like to use this on a QNAP NAS. Any tips on where I have ripped a movie to multiple CDs? Have not ripped in years so I have a bit of catching up to do.
Sorry, I'm not up on anything related to ripping or serving CDs. I'd look at something more like Roon though over Infuse for that.
Could i use a WD My Could instead of a NAS? I have a large collection
I'm pretty sure file shares on a device like that should be network addressable, so I would think so.
I’m new to this and can’t work out how to add iCloud as that the place I save my films
iCloud for streaming storage is not supported. support.firecore.com/hc/en-us/articles/360058061093-Streaming-From-Cloud-Services

Yes, check out their site for details. support.firecore.com/hc/en-us/articles/360058061093-Streaming-From-Cloud-Services
@@Techthusiasm many thanks !
@@TechthusiasmI didn't see any options to add Google drive on infuse Apple TV. Your mentioned link is for phone or ipad only. Not for tv. Tqvm
Question: I have a WD my cloud .....do this will play out of network when I'm out of home.
@@Techthusiasm oh ok, that’s not too bad. I’ll try it out. Thank you so much!
Not all apps on all platforms are created equal, so check to make sure. That'll work great though if the TV's Plex app does output Atmos over eARC.
Are you able to upload a movie download on your mac to this app or is it just streaming it?
Infuse plays movies stored on local storage, like a NAS or hard drive.
Quick question, when you have media on your mac I try to play from my Apple TV but I need to leave my laptop open in order for Infust to work. Do you know of any solution which could help me with this. I am just using my local PC so I think it needs to be streamed from somewhere.
Get a nice little NAS. Like a 2-bay Synology or something at least. Much better for Infuse.
Is there a way to get Infuse to see extras/special features ripped from a movie or tv show dv
Is there a way to rename the videos on iPad? I put the files from the photos app.
Hmm, not sure. Check their online help.
the thing that stops me from using Infuse on the ATV over Plex on the Shield Pro is Infuse cannot play Dolby Vision from my MKV's
I'll have to look into this specifically. My general use case is in my theater where only HDR10 matters, but I have this also set up in living room of course with the LG G2. I'll try it out.
My TV does. I have to test it in Infuse though.
Hmm, I have not observed that.
Can infuse play AV1 códec?
Thanks.
I don't think so. I think Apple might still need to add AV1 to the ATV/tvOS itself.
I seem to have issues with Infuse and my Apple TV 4K playing HDR content. There is about an 8 second delay when I press play, scrub, or skip to another chapter. I don’t have any issues when playing HDR on my phone.
I would recommend posting to their support.
do you turn on LFE in Stero Downmix in infuse?
For the living room, I just let Infuse send the PCM signal as it and my TV does the stereo downmix.
New follower on the channel. Enjoying the content 👍🏻
Got the ATV 3rd gen for Xmas.
I think the PCM decoded audio might run a little hotter. That's probably the difference vs. bitstream you're experiencing. Welcome to the channel!
regarding subtitles, does infuse work fine with both encoded subs and .srt files?
I believe so, since it supports online subs. But I only used subs inside the MKVs.
@@Techthusiasm alright thanks!
Wish it had themes like Kodi. But can it connect to a plex server? I heard it does
No themes (other than light and dark mode). Yes, I believe it will connect to Plex.
Yah I see in the video plex so you confirmed that
Apple TV - Huge limitation for lossless audio.

@@Techthusiasm Thanks Man
Well I just tried infuse and … it “almost” works?

I'm not aware of a way. Maybe report it to Infuse on their web page.
Will Infuse playback 4k movies purchased from iTunes actually in 4k or will it output it in 1080p?
No, Infuse for playing content ripped from physical media. iTunes bought content you would just play via iTunes itself.
Check the Infuse settings and see if you need to enable iCloud sync on the device you already set up the servers on.
Will this app have the option for live TV?
No live TV option for Infuse.
Help! I have infuse for iPad and downloaded subtitles but they are always outta sync with the video! Help! How do I get it to perfectly sync!
Hmm, sorry, I have not used downloaded subtitles. I'm not sure if Infuse has a delay setting. Maybe search their help/support site.
What receiver processor do you have.
Anthem AVM70 in the theater and Anthem STR in the living room.
If I have videos stored on my Mac downloads folder it will be able to stream them at 2x speed ?
I believe the faster playback is a universal setting. I can access it on my Mac for stuff played off my server.

It's getting harder as the channel grows, but I'm still doing it so far! :)
If you dont use Plex to serve Infuse and just use a share - is it better in any way?
Yeah, no reason to add Plex. Shares work just fine with Infuse.
@@Techthusiasm what about for encoding though
You shouldn't need to do any encoding. Infuse will play the native file formats from your rips. I don't recommend re-encoding or trans-coding HD or 4K content anyway. Only DVD perhaps.
@@Techthusiasm when out of the local network
If you want to do that, then you should use Plex.
this was really good, thank you, this looks like a better combination vs plex
I do prefer this app in general over Plex. Plex is really powerful and has great features too though depending on one's needs.
@@Techthusiasm if you have a Apple products in home, like Mac, Iphone or Apple TV then Infuse is a no brainer, the price is also pretty acceptable in comparison to plex. and the NAS also doesnt need to be powerful for live-transcoding
Infuse shines in a whole home Apple system, for sure.
It is possible to use Infuse for IPTV?
I am not aware of a way to do that.
Correct. The app has native player-back for all the usual codecs and audio it should encounter.
@@Techthusiasm Thanks for your reply. Your content has been very helpful.
@@Techthusiasm what’s the beat way to stream local files in highest quality? Which platform or device do you recommend?
Best really depends on what you value most. Some might call a high end Zappiti the best, but it still can be a bit of a sluggish and buggy device. I talk about Apple being best for me because I value the Apple service integration and other features. Other prefer a Shield. A HTPC will let you use MadVR software on your rips, but is expensive and complex. Everything has a trade-off. Let me know what features or capabilities you need or value the most in a player.
@@Techthusiasm need local media player, which I can access to files via network from different devices, and to give bluray disk quality.
Any of the solutions should work. Just no immersive audio with Apple TV. Shield is arguable better but I’m partial to already using Apple stuff.
So what I am hearing is if I need to perform a 1-to-1 rip of my collection and enjoy uncompressed ATMOS and DTS-X…this is a no go?
The only thing Infuse gives up is Atmos/DTS:X bit streaming, yes. That could be a dealbreaker or not depending on your situation. You still get uncompressed audio output, but only up to 7.1 channels.
i love how i can connect my emby account to it
Where and how can one add movies to the infuse app?
lol
In the Infuse settings, you point Infuse to your server, NAS, or network shares where your movies are stored. Then it indexes them and presents them for playback.
Are the macOS, tvOS and iOS apps separate purchases?
The app itself, if I recall correctly, is free, but you pay to unlock features with Pro. I bought the lifetime a while back, so I don't recall specifics.
Hi, nice video.
Couple of questions:
I am curious what video formats are supported on Infuse.
Check out another video on the channel. th-cam.com/video/clIrFOvOmIc/w-d-xo.html
Thanks!
How do you set it up? I think I missed something. It's not picking up my server.

Is it possible to run DTS with Infuse?
Infuse doesn't bitstream. It will output up to Dolby TrueHD/Atmos or DTS-HD MA/DTS:X as 7.1 PCM. So, it's a "yes, but" kind of answer.
Does it support OTT platforms ?
No, it is more for file playback.

does infuse allow local user switching like Plex?
Hmm, I'd have to look into that. I've only ever really used one profile with it. Just to be clear, do you mean in the Infuse app itself or within tvOS?
Hello, as infuse is paying and I read that you couldn't switch from one local user to another with plex in the forums which dates back 2 years, I was wondering if this function is now available with infuse on the Apple TV. Thanks!
Will it play content locally with no internet connection?
If your content is on the local network (like on a NAS), yes.
can add realdebrid to this ?
I don't know. I don't download movies (unless they are on my Kaleidescape).

Not to my knowledge.
So its like Kodi ?
Similar, yes, to Kodi and Plex.
So in order to use this I have to rip BR discs? I’m just trying to get my Apple TV purchases (movies) to play Lossless for better audio thru streaming
Sure thing! Thanks! No need to change stuff that’s working without a good reason.
@@Nummer6 you mean run concurrently?
Infuse supports a Plex server as a content source. So if you want to manage your content with Plex, but use Infuse as the client/player, it’s possible and pretty easy to do. You should be able to add the Plex server to Infuse just like any other source or network share. Maybe I’ll show this how to in a future video.
@@Techthusiasm Showing how that works would be good but I am not interested in the extra work at this point. Maybe that video would change my mind.

It depends I guess on what apps you use off your phone or tablet and what kind of packaging and codecs your content is in. I think relying on Airplay would be more limited than using Infuse on the Apple TV itself.
How can l add M3u

What do you mean by free libraries? You should rip your own content and play that.
Love to be watching this 4 months later after just switching and it DOES have home row integration!
The future is now! :) The app does actually support the home row, but you have to have the Up Next line of the UI turned on in the settings and then it will appear up above on the home screen. I don't use the Up Next so I didn't see anything up there.
No Android support. This should be on NVidia Shield TV Pro to get bitstream + DV.
Yeah, they focus on the Apple ecosystem.
