    I'm interested to see if the flocking improves things. Keep going with the Onstep and have fun at the show.

      Thanks I think the contrast flocking does is pretty minimal but it won't reflect any light inside the tube at all so better than paint I'd imagine, especially on mine as its badly damaged due to the water ingress. The show was great really enjoyed it although I did buy some more clouds in boxes while we were there lol.

      Yeah it is a bit of a shame but I knew what state it were in when I got it with the mount as it all came together, I hope you won't be spending any money at the PAS lol.

    Seems like you are "all in" with the RASA's! 8 inch and a 11 inch right? It amazes me how some people treat telescopes and I can't believe that I'm asking this question. How did that much water get into the 8 inch RASA and remain unoticed for so long? It's hard to tell from the video but the white specks inside the RASA might be Aluminium Oxide. It can blister through paint when water is present. That might be your issue with the flocking not sticking properly. There is no easy answer here but for you to sand it back, seal it with paint and then reflock it!!!

      Hi Neil I've only got the 11 inch as it wasn't a scope I were looking for initially but it came to me so to speak with the mount, as for the water ingress the owner of it had it set up on the CGE pro in their observatory & it had been there for a long time with no issues. Him & his wife went away on holiday to Switzerland & while they were away he had an alert saying there was a storm incoming, he were watching the security cameras & literally watched the roof being ripped off the observatory & with the wind & rain everything in there was pretty much written off in there & there was nothing they could do about it. I hear you about the oxidisation I did remove what I could see from the sides & for now it seems to be still stuck, if it does peel away I'll strip it again sand it & probably just paint the inside & be done with it, but for now fingers crossed all is well.

      @@dumpydalekobservatory Wow, I would be heart borken if that happened to me. Happy to have a big heavy wood and felt rolloff roof with over engineered hold downs

      @@neilhankey2514 I have to admit we did have a mini tornado come through here just over a year ago & I panicked thinking that's the dome gone, but it held fast & everything was ok which is more than I can see for the neighbours fence!!

    Did you "key " the tube with fine sandpaper before sticking the flocking on?

    • @dumpydalekobservatory
      @dumpydalekobservatory  ปีที่แล้ว

      No we didn't mate we did degrease & clean the inside of the tube as best we could, we did the same with the 150PDS & it stuck just fine so guessing the water damage did more than just wreck the paint.
