Practical Astronomy Show 2023: A Quick Look at This Year's Show

- Today I went to PAS 2023, a free show in Kettering in the UK. There was loads to see, lots to buy and some great talks as well.

Great video. I can’t believe how expensive things are in the UK. I was comparing the ZWO AM5 mount £2260 (including vat) at First Light Optics with the same mount in Canada, £1792 (including our taxes) at Ontario Telescope. Oddly enough one thing that is much cheaper in the UK is filters. Even after paying taxes and shipping they were much cheaper. Both First Light Optics (UK) and Ontario Telescope (Canada) are great Astronomy dealers.
Maybe I should move to Canada. I’ve always wanted to live in Canada. :)

Nice video of the Practical Astronomy Show 2023. Unfortunately we do not have a Practical Astronomy show in the Netherlands, such a show takes place in Essen Germany and is called the ATT. Have you probably heard of this, read about it or seen a video on youtube?
I wonder why there are few shows in Europe. Mind you it’s a bit of a niche hobby really. :( A shame though as it’s nice to look at some of this kit before buying.

Definitely a nice little venue, super easy to get to, free parking, free entry. If this was at the NEC it would have been the best part of £50 just for entry and parking!!! Can’t beat it for value for money. The t-shirt was only £12 too!
The Ioptron mounts you looked at were mainly strainwave in RA and Dec, the HAE range, the only one that I noticed there that had old school Dec was the smaller HEM27, a lot smaller and lighter 👍🏻

Still learning astrophotography, but really enjoy taking photos of nebulae. Learning a lot from your videos and astrobloke's, Lukomatico and others. Keep up the good work! We actually appear twice (a bit) in your video; on the way in we are right in front of you 😂 and then half way through the video - look out for the guy with the orange 'dutch' Jersey 😂😂😂

Is did see it but didn’t have a play with it. I’ve seen so many videos on this, there seems quite a big push and to be honest it has a place for beginners.

@@astrojourneyuk some googling indicates it's a Losmandy, maybe the G11. Edit: no that one looks slightly different.
