Hi Chad I just thought I'd say thanks for building this kit as for one I don't have the no how especially with building up a system of my own. I've got it all running in the observatory now with NINA, PHD, ASCOM & done some guided imaging with readings of 0.3 to 0.1 Arcseconds which I'm over the Moon about as it's handling the RASA 11 with ease now unlike the Skywatcher mount which was maxed out. I'm so glad I took the plunge & bought one now so here's to many more years of use out of the mount now. Thanks & clear skies!!
Hi Chad, Very cool! I was wondering about a CGE, not a pro just a CGE. I have had one for years. Went into storage for a few years. But when I finally got it back out it stopped working correctly. Can this kit you describe here be retrofitted to my CGE? Thanks in advance for taking the time to read my comment and respond. Regards, John
Very interesting product Chad as I own a very dead CGE pro mount & have considered throwing it away as junk because spares are nearly impossible to buy now. I hope you don't mind me asking you a few questions about your products. Firstly will this product work with EQ MOD or similar so it can be controlled via a computer in an observatory? Do you do a kit that fits inside the pier part of the mount? As the boards in mine are toast anyway due to the mount coming from a waterlogged observatory. And do you ship to the UK? It would be great if the CGE pro I have could be put to good use again as it's been sat in my living room collecting dust which takes up a lot of room as it is & it's getting to a stage where it's either gonna be fixed or it's going in the bin, if it can be fixed then that would be great & I would replace the mount I have in there as it's pretty much maxed out with the weight which isn't good for imaging. Thanks & I look forward to hearing from you.
Hello, I do not have anything formal to fit the electronics inside of the pier. I have not used EQ Mod, but OnStep is a full fledged mount computer system with ASCOM and INDI support. I have no problem shipping world wide. I would research OnStep first. onstep.groups.io/g/main I have a website with some more information on the conversion adapter and kits i made for the CGE Pro on this website: graydigitalarts.com/
Thanks for the reply Chad I'll be seriously looking into this as if it can run via ASCOM then I should be able to run the mount with the mini PC with all the software I use for Astrophotography (I'm guessing) If a kit could be made to fit inside the pier then I'm sold, or sell the parts I'd need & swap out the Celestron parts plugs etc on the existing pier if that makes sense.
@@dumpydalekobservatory Here is a link to the ASCOM driver. www.stellarjourney.com/diffusing-huzzah.php?r=site/software_telescope All of my customers so far have specifically said they did not want the electronics inside of the pier. They did not want to take it apart and have that hassle. My first thoughts when i designed this was to put the electronics inside of the pier. I will see what I can do. I have down time on this project now that I am having supplier problems so i will see if I can design something up. It should not be too difficult. Chad
You know i forgot what the peir cylinder looked like on the inside. You would have to do some metal cutting as each of those panels is very specifically cut for each plug that is sticking out of it. photos.app.goo.gl/6qy25ffmLnYK95vp6 So i don't see a large audience that would be willing to do this. I will see see if i can reuse the existing holes, but the "easy" part of this went out the window.
Oustanding. I own a cge pro al well and im in love with the mount. What does this set cost and is it compatible with astrosoftware like stellarium, nina, eq-mod?
Hello, yes OnStep is compatible with Stellarium, Nina and other software. There is a ASCOM driver and Indi driver. Outstanding video Chad! An amazing piece of engineering!

I am afraid not the motor mounts are not the same.
Good idea those inserts for the motor covers, I ended up mutilated mine to fit a connector.
If you are an existing customer contact me and I will see how I can upgrade you to the new design. Chad
I have a CGEPro so the mother board is deadth can You giveme your contact for build a new control board system?, thanks@@ChadGrays
