  • Here we have the first few minutes on my 2021 KX250X. This bike is pretty stinking good out here in the desert. I'll have much more on this bike in the coming months as I ride it, break things, fix things, and have a blast on it.

      that is no joke. I have had a couple close calls, one in particular I had to leave the trail and hit a bank even though the SxS driver saw me. He was going to kill me if I didn't get off the trail. When he passed where he saw me wreck he was going at least 60 mph, and this was in the woods.

    Nice! The 250 4Ts rip.
    Kawi's older 250 Mxer had some grunt while the new one is a screamer with no low end. I imagine Team Green simply worked with the prior 250s gruniter motor to bring the "X" into line for off road, but a good modern 250 is still good and fast on top with revs for days. Most of us mortals would be far better off on a good 250 than a 450, even in the desert.
    The best "250" is a KTM 350 XC though. Goldilocks stuff with light 250 like handling and more broad range beef power wise, still with revs for days (and truly awe inspiring power along with them), without being too much off the bottom like a 450 can be while riding in the gnarly stuff. A magical bike that 350 is...

    I was looking at this bike for woods riding in NC. While I like everything about the bike, the maintenance is what drove me away. If I want MX maintenance intervals I'll buy an MX bike. I wanted a bike that I can go rip for an afternoon, give it a quick wash, lube the chain, clear the filter and be done with it until the next ride. I wound up with a KLX300R. Yeah, it's a heavy pig, but it handles every bit of NC single track with ease. And I'm not changing the oil or adjusting valves every other ride. I think Kawasaki missed the point with the 250X. I would gladly sacrifice a bit of the power for longer maintenance intervals.

    I really want to know which bike is better for me. Its between a 2020 yz250fx, 2021 yz250f, Ktm 350xc, and the new kx250x. I've only rode the 2020 yz250fx out all these and i absolutely loved it. I currently own a 2015 wr250f with a competition ecu. I like the wr, but compared to the newer 2020 yz250fx that I rode It is nowhere close to as good. I ride mostly mx tracks and gncc type tracks. I had a 2019 kx450 which was ok, but not the best for me being that I am almost 50 years old. It just feels heavier and tiers me out compared to the 250f's not to mention I'm no better at anything on the 450. I thought I could get more laps in on the 450, but my god after a couple laps I'm spent compared to the 250f. I tried buddies 450's before I bought mine and it seemed better for the lap or 2 that I tried them, but it was misleading because I'm only good for a couple laps on the 450 after that the weight and effort to control the throttle is just exhausting compared to the 250's. I've never tried a 350, but that seems like a good option. What I know for sure is that the 2020 yz250fx is an awesome bike for me. I rode the 2020 yz250f and the yz250fx back to back at a Yamaha test day. To me the FX was just way better in every way from the suspension to the different gear box. It just felt more planted, snappier and easier to get over jumps with for some reason. I would like to hear from the Kyle, but all input would be helpful

Go up 2 teeth in rear and one tooth down in front,(cheaper an easier if just wanna try front sprocket only at first only $15.00)but doing both will feel like a different bike. SPROCKETS =$50.00 VS. What or who designates the trails being single track or side by side? I get the impression at times that you feel anything with more than 2 wheels doesn't belong off road or do you have trails out there designated for each class and the 4 wheelers are riding designated single track trails? I'm in Northwestern Pennsylvania and your trails and areas to ride make me envious.

      @tl5108 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just how they’re cut. Some areas are just too tight for quads, so only bikes make trails there and sometimes bikes just make trails and only bikes ride them. You should check out Allegheny national forest up in northern PA. It’s a pretty nice trail system with a couple different heads

    • @1ljs
      @1ljs 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@tl5108 I am somewhat familiar with the PA system though it's been 25 yrs. since I rode them. In the late 70s except for designated trails, the National Forest was declared off limits by the powers that be. They told us that the bikes were destroying the National Forest with all the erosion. They eventually gave us some trails but in the process removed any type of vertical climb. The trails were designed to go around all the hills. The trails were better than nothing but quite a let down . We would go to the Forest just to ride the power lines and gas lines because they went straight up and over the hills, not around. And shortly after opening the trails they started drilling and that took a bunch of trails out of the system. Rocky Gap was the trail that I was most familiar with that was affected most by drilling. Another problem with the PA system was it seemed that every time we had a free weekend to ride the trail we planned to ride was closed for one reason or other. Any way as I read the postings below I think of the words, "Divide and Conquer" . In PA in the 70s there was this argument about the Jeep type 4 wheelers that were ruining the trails for us bikers. Eventually they took it all away from both bikers and the Jeep 4 wheelers. and replaced it with something less. There ought to be room for everybody to ride. Just saying.

    I rode quads for years and it blows my mind how much smoother bikes handle rocks and whoops. Thinking of getting a dirtbike here in the next few months due to how expensive it is to own and race a quad. I'm 6'0 225, but I feel like I don't need a 450 as I'm not experienced on 2 wheels. What's a solid choice for a used bike? The trails I ride are similar to this plus lots of sandy washes

    How about a BASIC tune first.
    How about riding it in circles to tune the motor's power and get a BASIC suspension tune and get track position in the middle of the corner.
    Then you need to set suspension to get some early traction out of corners with No wheelspin.
    Then you need to set suspension for the amount of spring off jumps or NO spring.
    Then you must go back to cornering and adjust compression for the amount of turn in power and then you're adjusting rebound for corner exit turning power so you enter and exit corners in the middle of the track.
    Then you keep tuning for the next month.
    Then you fine tune for years.
    Then you maintain the performance level you've reached, and realize It's become impossible for YOU to change brands or look at another bike for the next 10 to 20 years.
