I'm REALLY excited about this!! I'm curious - do your kids help fold? What age did you start training them? PLEASE come back after a week and tell me if it has changed your life like it has mine!
I have a method that is similar and WORKS (family of 6) 🎉 It’s basically the same except it cuts the sorting step of laundry which is the TIME SUCK! Every day, one person has “laundry day” Monday - son #1 Tuesday - daughter #1 Wednesday - daughter #2 Thursday - son #2 Load of the day goes in at breakfast, I switch it mid morning, child puts it away by end of the day - NO SORTING necessary because it is only ONE person’s stuff🎉 On Friday I do my laundry & husband’s laundry together
@@faithfullyinfertile I really want to! I told my husband and we both said our 10yo would need more clothes to only wash once a week 😂 (he's our pickiest kid when it comes to comfortable clothes 🙈) And my husband works out/runs everyday and I workout 4x/wk, so we'd wash our stuff more than 1x/wk or else they would start stinking!! 😂 But with those tweaks, I think I would like it better (once our youngest can wash his own)!! Thank you!!
Another life changing laundry tip for those who might have fewer people in the house is to fold directly from the dryer to the basket(s). That way when you get to the room, you just put them away. Tip: fold the towels first and then the other things on top. Socks go in the corner that the towels don't take up
I understand your excitment. Making a task easier and shorter is amazing. It happened to me with windows cleaning. It took me 2 to 3 hours and I was exausted in the end. Now is 20 minutes for the outside and the same for inside. I sometimes feel like cleaning them just because it is much easier.
I do one load a day! We’re only a family of four though so usually I have a day or two off. 👍🏻 My 8yo daughter is in charge of washing/drying/putting back on her sheets and blankets every Tuesday. She’s been doing that since she was 7. She also is in charge of her laundry every Thursday from start to finish. She actually doesn’t fold. She just lays them in the drawer. I know it’s kind of weird, but since we are fairly minimal in our wardrobes it works because drawers aren’t crowded. 😃🤷🏻♀️
That's fantastic!! 👏🏼👏🏼 Now that's something I need to get my kids doing (their sheets)! That's awesome you've had her doing that since she was 7! I've heard a few people say they just lay their clothes in their drawers! Whatever works! 😉
Timing yourself is a great idea when you tend to put off doing a chore. I did that with my dishes and when I realized it only took me five to ten minutes to do the dishes I stopped complaining about it and just did it. 😄
LOL! Exactly!! Smart! I know I should time other chores, because I'm sure some of the other chores I complain about aren't really as bad as I chock them up to be in my head 😅
You are sooooo sweet! Thank you for your kind words! I'm so glad you have found something that WORKS for you!! Also, timing yourself is KEY! It truly is a mindshift when we do this 👊
I really enjoyed your video! Laundry is my favorite chore, but with three kids and two who I'm cloth diapering, it's a lot of work. You've inspired me to spend some time today to teach my oldest how to start folding her clothes!
I'm glad it's your favorite! That helps a lot! It's all in perspective;) but that's a good idea to get your oldest on board! They're more than capable! 👏🏼👏🏼 thanks for the comment ☺️
God bless you for sharing this.im a mom of 3 and myself and husband so family of 5. I have been so stressed with the laundry 🧺 Getting it put away has been the hardest part for myself personally. ❤
I'm so glad you found this helpful! I'm still sticking to this all these months later and it's worked out so well! There has to be a mindset shift: "future me will thank current me for getting this laundry put away!" And just do it without letting "lazy laura" take over 😂 you got this mama!!
live in a house with 2 kids my boyfriend and my grandparents, and since we’re in the basement where the laundry room is, i’ve been trying to tackle this chore and keep up with it, but god. my siblings(the two kids) seem to send a hamper down everyday and it’s almost unbearable
I do one load a day but I do group them. I do towels together, kids clothes together, mine & my OH, bedding, swimming stuff then repeat, whichever baskets is the most full gets done. I also treat myself when I am folding I watch a youtube video, it may add a little time on but it motivates me to do it everyday.
Yes! The FlyLady I think originally came up with this plan of attack 😄 I've been doing a load a day for years and generally on Thursdays is my laundry day where I do any and all laundry where all my baskets are EMPTY and I iron also on this day. It works. Wash and dry in the mornings and fold then put away of the evenings 😁
Daily doing laundry is dreadful even if its10 mins a day and seems like not enough to wash and dry so not efficient on the energy and water and this won’t work if the kids aren’t home at lunch time! Do you reuse the Dirty clothes basket for clean clothes? I kid can’t see myself putting clean where dirty goes. I’m glad you found something that works for you! Sadly this won’t work for me! 😫
I didn’t see the family part in the title & im also kind of disappointed. This is in no way helpful for just speeding up laundry in general. Unless you’re a large family it’s impractical & unnecessary to wash a load every single day

Ooohhh I like this idea!!!! Brilliant!! How old are your kids?
@@TheJohnsonCrew my kids are 13, 11, 8 and 6. Around age 5ish they start putting their laundry away themselves.
Try it!!! 🎉🎉

Fabulous tip, mom!! ❤️❤️ I'm always impressed when I've seen you do this! Just get it done! Love you!
Thanks for this!! I’m such a procrastinator and normally my clean clothes will just stay in the basket 😅 definitely going to be using this tip!

Nice! I love watching something while I fold too! 🙌
Oh my, you perfectly described my laundry woes! Can't wait to hear the solutions, thank you.
Glad we can commiserate! 😅 hopefully this is helpful to you!!
I love this video. I will be trying it out this method starting today. Thank you ❤️
Awesome! I hope it's as helpful for you as it was for me!

This has helped me so much! Thank you!
I'm SO glad!! 😃 🙌🏻
are you from GA?? i saw your channel banner and was wondering if that was Savannah! ❤
Yes I am!! You nailed it!

Do you sort clothes for each wash ? My biggest time is when I sort to wash. OCD
No I only sort as I'm getting them out of the dryer!
I need to start timing myself!! 😅
YES!! It's such a big mindset shift just realizing it's not as bad as we think it is 😅
So, the kids fold their clothes but the husband doesn't? 😮
I take care of it for him while he's working 💕 we each do things for each other happily because we love each other 😉
It's funny that your children can fold but your husband can't
She is honoring his time... The kids are with her most of the time. What's so wrong with that?
It's not funny, it's selective incompetence 😂
