Wholly agree mate - Soler was my MoM - he made us tick with his movement and intelligent passing. Also thought Kilman was outstanding. Whilst our travelling friends in the north nothing but respect & thanks
I've been the biggest critic of both Antonio & Soul this past year but on Monday they were both superb so credit absolutely where its due. Has the penny finally dropped with the players as to how Lopetegui wants them to play? I don't expect to beat Arsenal but I do now expect a level of performance to match this one for all games going forward. If that happens then I'll be happy to give Lopetegui more time because up to Monday, for the past 6 matches or so I've wanted him gone as didn't rate him. I don't care who the manager is (other than fkn Moyes) I just want him to make our team better and become a top 6-8 side and get us into a European slot.Great performance COYFI's.
What a performance from the TEAM. Yes team, played as a cohesive unit. Every player fought for their teammates. Soler and Paq great in midfield. Brilliant work from out defense with Souchek covering. Fantastic energy from the forwards. Both goals were excellent. Hope we’ve turned a corner and the lads are now working with Lopi. More of the same. COYI.
The effort levels made a massive difference. That is what we all want. Do it regularly and we'll have no problems. Get a striker in January and let's see. Give it a go against the Arse and who knows. Well done and credit where its due.
It was a good night we saw flashes of how we could play at last a bit of fight and determination, but I’m still unconvinced loppy is the man. A bit of an off night by Newcastle who didn’t have their shooting boots on. I’d need to see a lot more of this to change my mind
Great win Gary for the hammers,we just did not turn up and yous took full advantage of it with two well taken goals could be a turning point for yous after all we beat Chelsea arsenal and Forrest our last three games so yous must have played well to claim the points.hope things get better for the hammers mate well done ,we're on to palace next won't be surprised if we beat them it's the way our seasons going.
It takes time every coach needs it I’ve never heard the media come down so hard on a coach before. And worse of all the so called fans have joined in. SHAME
Superb performance against Newcastle, Soler Paqueta and Soucek bossed our midfield, yes i did say Soucek .... Soucek playing as the holding midfielder slotting in to defence when Kilman went on a run up field and allowing Soler and Paqueta to do the creative stuff worked perfectly
First time under Loppy we looked a team, everyone gave 100% that's all we ask win or lose. Our application , passing and a system we could identify with, spot on. Loppy has not lost the players after a performance like that. COYI
I completely agree with everything you said there, Gary. What a fantastic result for the team. Played for each other and all put a shift in. Delighted for them, they earned their result, and respect, for that performance. Also delighted for the travelling support who went up there expecting very little but supported the players all the same. Great reward for their loyalty. Kudos to you all supporters who made the effort; superb. The acid test now is can/will the players continue to show that level of application. After this performance those guys have proved their ability and what they can do when they look after each other. For now I'm just going to enjoy this and dream about spiking the gooners on Saturday. COYI. Up the Hammers.
Gary - great show as always. Agree with your comments and indeed a good win. For - I'll take it game by game. We are starting to see marginal improvements and maybe - just maybe Loppy's got the hearts and minds of the players and started to turn the corner. Let's hope so. Great performance from the lads. COYI.

As you said Gary that team of half hearted misfits …. What happened? As you said they were totally different. What did Lopetegui do to them? One of my theories is that Alvarez and Kudus aren’t easy to manage. Dare I say that Moyes used to sub Alvarez off before he got sent off. I agree that playing a balanced team with players in their best position makes a big difference. I thought Fabianski was inspired last night, and Soucek and Bowen were excellent. It was a lovely watch, and a lovely start to the week. I’m so pleased for our away fans. I hope Lopetegui plays an unchanged team against Arsenal. I still think our head coach isn’t the right fit but we’ve got a few “ better” fixtures coming up. I agree it is all about results and performances. Great review Gary, thanks.

Cheers Gary, excellent review, what can I say, there was a strategy, and tactics to match. And the key? Quality play by the midfield. Paqueta indeed looked to be inspired by Soler who alone looks like he was getting in gear, and my man, Soucek, the soldier, scores our first goal from a corner, AWB, Kilman, Bowen, Antonio Todibo, all did very well. A much needed win at a place where wins come hard. COYI⚒️⚒️⚒️

Why did Soler and Paqueta finally find their form . When JLO’s arse was on the floor . Was it just a midfield tweak that worked . Or was there a clear the air discussion in the dressing room . Something lovely changed in midfield
Soler has been a bit part player really and Paqueta has been in the number 10 role, it was the first time really I think they played together with someone else - Soucek doing the donkey work. All three were important components of what looks to be a really well balanced midfield.
I like you Gary, needed to give myself some space on our performance last night ,this morning I replayed the game in my mind.We were sensational and a performance I haven’t seen from us in many a year.I thought Newcastle were very poor, but again reflecting on the game we made them look bang average if not very poor.Paqueta was imperious last night,el Magnifico last night ,form temporary and class is permanent.Yes Soler energy and purpose last night, brilliant. The ref Pawson a disgrace Gary,Micky had his shirt ripped of his back and nothing given ,then gives 6 mins injury time a joke, but Craig it didn’t work you melt.Great video mate loved your concise upbeat view.
I think we have to give Loppy another chance. Is this the turning point? I've always said that Irving is a decent pro, and I would rather see him get the place over Alverez at this moment in time. I'm actually now looking forward to our next trip to the London Stadium. COYI

I think he should be. The hysterical response to his start has been way over the top. It hasn't been great, definitely but there have been so many players totally not firing on all cylinders and some of his starting line ups have been questionable but last night was the first time he got it right, the team looked like they wanted to play for him and hopefully, Rodriguez won't be starting from now whom I think has been a major issue. Now, playing Arsenal Saturday was never going to be easy and it still won't considering our poor record against them but if he sticks with the same starting 11 and the players can carry on with the intensity we pressed with up the pitch last night, we can give them a game. I honestly think he can get more out of our squad and I hope he does but he is most probably going to be sacked with each coming game because the pressure he is under from the media, us and the club but ultimately, we are never progressing with this board.
@motr1912 he's not the man for this job, and he lied his way into the job. He said he stayed out of work after Wolves and in England as he was studying us and the prem to be able to hit the ground running. That's a blatant lie. He had all summer, all preseason, and up til last night to implement his "style of play" any other club would have sacked him way before now. But he is here til the end of the season. I just hope we get someone else in the summer
Despite the consensus that Newcastle were crap, I thought West Ham made them look average. Best, cohesive performance of your season, you looked a top side, second half. They were trying to overload you first 20 mins, but your wingers were incredible, they ran their socks off and forced them inside the rest of the game. Paqueta and Soler looked natural together, a good sign.
Thanks Tony, I absolutely agree, I think we controlled the game and stopped Newcastle causing too much damage. There was some last ditch defending but that's what the defenders are there for. I loved it.
@@GaryKillington Two duracell bunnies in Bowen and Summerville on the outside is going to engage the midfield more and get them on the ball, but, they've got to be mobile. I think you had a good blend in there, they closed Guimaraes out, completely.
Gary this talk shite really gets me going. They said especially Jordan that we played like moyes did in his term😂😅. When did moyes play with us having the ball ffs and high up the pitch and use the subs on the bench . Best technical football with solor and paqetta in mid on the front foot and soucek doing what his better at . Really enjoyed that match with us having the ball not moyes at all.
Ignore them mate, their whole business model is built around riling up the fans and add on to that you have the likes of Jeff Stelling, Jim White and Simon Jordan who are all very pally with David Moyes. They just need that other dinosaur Richard Keys on there to complete the West Ham hate group. Ignore, ignore, ignore.
Brilliant performance from all the team. God knows were that display has been all season. But we outplayed them and well deserved the 3 points. Trouble is you never know what West Ham your going to get one game to another. So hopefully we can continue like this ⚒⚒
Well we have known, Smokey, the West Ham we've got up to last night was either crap or good for one half. Last night was a full great 90 mins + injury time.
Last night Lo0po got it right finally. The team looked together, worked hard, and frankly good for the win. So what do we do now with Lopo ? Well, if Lopo has seen the penny drop, has discarded those previous experiments, and is prepared to go forward with these real WH playing plan, then we would be cutting our nose off to dismiss him at this time. But, if he is to stay, and recover our support, the next games will determine his future. Meanwhile, from a previously continual Lopo critic fan, well done the players and "the new" Lopo !
Yes We won But Let's Not Go Crazy A Good Performance Soler Was A Key Piece Of The Midfield Paqueta OK Even Soucek Had Good Game Antonio Was SOLID It Begs The Question Is That The Best Loppy Can Offer He Can Tweak The Team To Make It More Efficient And Effective I Feel That That's The Best Loppy Can Offer There Is No More Levels That It He's Not The Manager Too Take Us The Next Steps 6th In The League And A Good Run In The Cups You Can See It's Taking A Toll On Him
While we had the rub of the green in the 1st half,in the 2nd I felt we were absolutely outstanding. Everyone played their part but I thought Bowen really led from the front and had an extra yard of pace. In terms of loppy I suspect he wont be able to resist reverting to type and putting the fullbacks inverted like no 10s and making other bizarre choices, but at least it now makes the Arsenal game interesting
The other week Gary, I posted a comment questioning what Soler brought to the table........ well, last night we found out. I also questioned the whole teams intensity and said that everyone needed to put in the same effort as Jimmy had done, well guess what? Yes, people like Rodriguez , Alvarez and Soucek are criticised for being too slow but surely the team needs everyone to put a shift in and these limitations wont be so exposed as Tomas showed last night. The emergence of Soler last night and the resurrection of Paqman was something to behold, long may it continue.
I think loppy may have stumbled upon a system that works (due to suspensions) , Antonio was on fire last night but has he got two games in a row like that in him. I never saw that result coming , let’s see if he has it in him to play the same side/system against arsenal
Yeah maybe Tom but as you know sometimes it's fate that lends a helping hand, that's maybe what happened here. Personally not concerned how we got there, I'm just relieved to see that his system does have a chance of working with the right players who are all at it.
Loppy is finally leaning towards playing to our strengths. Playing TEAM defense to cover the counterattacks is clearly something we CAN do. The combo of Soler and Paqueta shows we can pass in triangles AND actially progress the ball forward. We weren't ALL high press, but we did press with a purpose. Players covered for each other, especially in supporting the back line. It's ironic that we covered more ground in this game than just about any game this year... but it was much more evenly distributed. Perhaps this was a tepid acknowledgement that we don't have the players that Loppy wants for HIS system... but adjusting the system to make the players more effective is a good interim solution.
When Moyes left it was inevitable that whoever came in would have a rebuild on there hands and that is exactly what has happened. Rebuilds take time for the new manager/coach to stamp there ways and ideas on the squad and particularly how WestHam have tactically played the last four or five seasons to expect an overnight transition is just not going to happen. New players, a new manager needs patience. JL is no mug. He must be given time. COYI⚒
They do take time Cliff but I was expecting to see something more after 10 games. However, I'm prepared to eat a slice of humble pie if this is the start of something good. Whatever is good for West Ham I will support.
My issue is it took Lopetegui until Matchday 12 and his job being on the line to figure out the lineup and tactics that we all could have said needed to be used on day 1. If every game the rest of the season is like last night even if we lose, that's all we wanted. But I do NOT trust him to deliver that.
Yeah it did and I gave him until Matchday 10. We're only 2 games on from that in reality and we've not conceded a goal in Matchdays 11 and 12. It's progress, let's just see some more before we decide one way or the other. I'm gonna review it after Leicester to see where my head is at.
Just watched the highlights and tbh I happy asf but it could've been a lot different if things didn't go our way in mavs penalty he nearly gave away and isaak's miss after he scored that was offside but I'm happy and pleased
yeah but you need a bit of luck, having said that they didn't have any chances that were not distracted by a last gasp defensive action, so we did our bit to put them off.
Gary good afternoon mate, was a great performance played some good football played has a team, very happy, hope we play the same next game, but the jury is still out for me with Loppy if we start playing like this in next eight games then my opinion may change.
@@Essexphotographer55 exactly. too many trigger happy so called fans. one channel not a million miles away wanted us to lose so to put more pressure on sullivan. unbelievable!!!!
I couldn’t agree more, that was stubbornness, gumption and grabbing the bull by the horns and saying fuck it let’s go. Aggressive, in their faces, giving no Quarter for the full 90. That’s the West Ham I fell in love with. That was the most West Ham Way performance I can remember since that first half against laverkussan at home last season. Not perfect by any stretch especially in a the first half where we were under the Cosh, and our technical ability was stopping us keeping the ball. However it suited us in the first half to absorb pressure and Counter as we know all so well. However he says….. 2nd half here we go, I did see faint patterns of play emerge in the second half once Newcastle had given up. Triangles, game management, Switching play, pressing effectively to pen in Newcastle, and sensible and tactical astute substitutions were all credited for. However more importantly something must of happened behind the scenes to galvanise a team that last week looked so disjointed and awful and unhappy. I really hope this is a turning point however I’m not going to hold my breath until we do it in front of our home fans next week, against a team who humiliated us at home last season. Loppy still needs to earn his respect with the fans and by proving this is not a one off as well. However this doesn’t take away from that outstanding performance we can hopefully build on. An unlikely positive, Fortune was hiding and tonight we found her. West Ham 2 Newcastle United 0 Come on you Irons ⚒️. That’s me cream crackered off to bed. Night all.
Basically the players/formation I’ve wanted the whole season. I’d probably choose Kudus as a starter over Soler or possibly over Antonio of Fulkrug is out a lot
What happened to Newcastle ?...After 50 min their heads just dropped and they were out of the game, was there a reason for this or were we just pretty decent, I'm humbled but not sure, but what a relief to see players in their respective positions for once, that was clearly the difference, AWB cant put a cross in and Todibo looks like the physical side of the premiership is a hurdle...
All the doom & gloom merchants might give the Manager & Team a break now. First season was always going to be a work in progress. We discovered Soler can now be a very useful addition. Go out a sign Kelleher from Liverpool in January to tighten up the defence.
a lot of Geordies came on to our blogs to congratulate us ...nuff said...was a good game but we made home support nervous after 30 mins because they were witnessing us perform COYI
A broken clock tells the right time twice a day… For Lope to survive, he needs to show the same tactics and discipline over a run of games. We will see against Arsenal who turns up…
Perfect tactics, perfect formation, perfectly timed and selected subs, we got better as the game went on - against a good team. And our attack was actually a really nice attack. Lot of firsts there, so let's hope...
One game vs 6x months of abject shite! - Loppy needs to continue against Arsenal. Anything other than showing we are moving forward and he needs to GO!
@ correct but he was forced to drop Alvarez and Kudus, we will see what happens when he has everyone available. I personally think he will go back to what he believes in for the last 12 games as he seems to be very stubborn….. but if he doesn’t and this continues then fair play to him and I wish him all the best
So you're just motivated by disliking the bloke then? Or that you love constant change? Don't you think after that he has bought himself a little time? I do. What more could he do?
I will always want rid of Sullivan, but Loppy is just a pawn in the game, if he improves and does well I will support him again. I genuinely never saw this game coming in a month of sundays.
Thank gawd we are now talking about the team....Every channel has been constantly and without diversion kicking Loppy. I felt so good for him last night. At last the lads seemed to get it. Yes the midfield was great but they were all great. However we need to get grounded for the Gooners. A draw would be a great result although we can all wish for 3 points. Time for the players to stay focused.....⚒️⚒️⚒️
Yeah and Ranger speaking for myself I expect many had the same motivation - we looked utterly crap, there was no redeeming features and it felt like chaos. Now not so much. Wish this had happened a few games ago but maybe the banned players have in a way helped him to find his best 11?
The missing videos at the end have been added as a separate short, just released them. I know what I did wrong now 🙂
Wholly agree mate - Soler was my MoM - he made us tick with his movement and intelligent passing. Also thought Kilman was outstanding. Whilst our travelling friends in the north nothing but respect & thanks
Yep Kilman was bulletproof Daniel, really really good. Soler could be the one who brings the tempo to the midfield.

Not sure where to start mate what a team performance I hope he has learns from his and we move on great show mate COYI
Thanks Greenbadge, let's hope so.
Jordan is a plum who just upsets people so they will call in. My advice is turn him off.
Soler with a Manuel-ish performance. Keeps ticking it over.
Yes he could be the one who sets the tempo and controls the midfield.
I do feel for him I know he is paid for it but still imagine if we get a draw against Arsenal and our season could totally flip for the better
A great win. We might now have the right midfield combo. 😊
I think we might, let's just hope that Alvarez stays on the bench Saturday.
Afternoon Gary . Some of the football was really good, where did it come from
I just don't know Steve, but I loved it.
I still can’t work out where that performance came from…even up to about 93 minutes I was thinking it could easily go wrong….🤦🏼♀️⚒️⚒️
Me neither and it just improved as it went on. We were comfortable second half.
Antonio only played ok because he knows fulkrug is close to getting back to match fitness
Nice one Gary
Cheers Matt
Last night Lo0po got it right finally. The team looked together, worked hard, and frankly good for the win. So what do we do now with Lopo ? Well, if Lopo has seen the penny drop, has discarded those previous experiments, and is prepared to go forward with these real WH playing plan, then we would be cutting our nose off to dismiss him at this time. But, if he is to stay, and recover our support, the next games will determine his future. Meanwhile, from a previously continual Lopo critic fan, well done the players and "the new" Lopo !
They really did Barry, they were battling as hard as they could for each other. Loved that.
Yes We won But Let's Not Go Crazy A Good Performance Soler Was A Key Piece Of The Midfield Paqueta OK Even Soucek Had Good Game Antonio Was SOLID It Begs The Question Is That The Best Loppy Can Offer He Can Tweak The Team To Make It More Efficient And Effective I Feel That That's The Best Loppy Can Offer There Is No More Levels That It He's Not The Manager Too Take Us The Next Steps 6th In The League And A Good Run In The Cups You Can See It's Taking A Toll On Him
Don’t get too excited with the win, but don’t get too down when it doesn’t go our way
huge credit to manager for being brave and not playing defensive midfielder ...even though Paq came deep ...the work rate was off the scale
Bowen was fantastic but I expect that from him. I didn't expect it from Soler hence why I chose him for MOTM. He was a genuine surprise to me.
We did indeed, he was excellent, maybe the tempo setting in the middle of the park.
Absolutely Colin, we've got to just see what happens and support the boys, never know I guess.
New Manager new players and systems and training ! it takes time to gel just give him a chance !
@@Essexphotographer55 exactly. too many trigger happy so called fans. one channel not a million miles away wanted us to lose so to put more pressure on sullivan.
unbelievable!!!!
One swallow doesn’t make a summer. But enjoy the win COYI ⚒
Indeed not Chris, not getting carried away but the win was very welcome
I couldn’t agree more, that was stubbornness, gumption and grabbing the bull by the horns and saying fuck it let’s go. Aggressive, in their faces, giving no Quarter for the full 90. That’s the West Ham I fell in love with.
That was the most West Ham Way performance I can remember since that first half against laverkussan at home last season.
Not perfect by any stretch especially in a the first half where we were under the Cosh, and our technical ability was stopping us keeping the ball. However it suited us in the first half to absorb pressure and Counter as we know all so well.
However he says….. 2nd half here we go,
I did see faint patterns of play emerge in the second half once Newcastle had given up.
West Ham 2
Newcastle United 0
Come on you Irons ⚒️.
That’s me cream crackered
off to bed. Night all.
Basically the players/formation I’ve wanted the whole season. I’d probably choose Kudus as a starter over Soler or possibly over Antonio of Fulkrug is out a lot
I really hope that a light went on in his head last night, he can see just how good that midfield was.
Did u notice that 3 of the 4 backs were premier ready new wat to expect
yeah I did
What Happened To The Snippets At The End Garry
I screwed up, will release as a short
What happened to Newcastle ?...After 50 min their heads just dropped and they were out of the game, was there a reason for this or were we just pretty decent, I'm humbled but not sure, but what a relief to see players in their respective positions for once, that was clearly the difference, AWB cant put a cross in and Todibo looks like the physical side of the premiership is a hurdle...
Yeah I think they were being out-done in midfield and after the first 5 mins second half they did kinda give up, you're right.
All the doom & gloom merchants might give the Manager & Team a break now.
First season was always going to be a work in progress.
We discovered Soler can now be a very useful addition.
Go out a sign Kelleher from Liverpool in January to tighten up the defence.
Yeah maybe, well those who just want to see the team do well.
a lot of Geordies came on to our blogs to congratulate us ...nuff said...was a good game but we made home support nervous after 30 mins because they were witnessing us perform COYI
Hi Gazza do u think loppy not being on the pitch Saturday will have a negative effect on the team?
Maybe, but we’ve just got to get on with it
Afternoon Gary
How good does that make us feel after all the dross we have had to put up with . Hopefully turned a corner now .x
Hope so mate, really hope so
A broken clock tells the right time twice a day… For Lope to survive, he needs to show the same tactics and discipline over a run of games. We will see against Arsenal who turns up…
Perfect tactics, perfect formation, perfectly timed and selected subs, we got better as the game went on - against a good team. And our attack was actually a really nice attack. Lot of firsts there, so let's hope...
What next for the manager. The fan base need to get of the team and he's back and start supporting them
I think we need to see if that was a one off or if there's something good we can read into it, time will tell.
Sky sports saying emergency board meeting fri to find out if he stays or goes
Paq won’t be available for Leicester he’s in Brazil fir his betting enquiry
One game vs 6x months of abject shite! - Loppy needs to continue against Arsenal. Anything other than showing we are moving forward and he needs to GO!
I don't expect us to beat Arsenal, but I do expect him to get something from Wolves and Leicester. Arsenal is a bonus game even if we get stuffed.
Respect to the geordies singing eddie howes name when 2=0 down. This is what we miss, back the manager and team and ignore moaning youtubers.
Great set of fans these days, they really are
1 Game, 3 Points. Lets see the performance repeated. At least the repeat of the effort at home against the Gooners.
Nobody will moan too much if the effort and desire is there every game
One good game doesn’t paper over the gaping holes in the tactics of Floppy, what makes you think he isn’t going back to type when people are back??
That’s the thing, there were no gaping holes in the tactics last night - for the first time
@ correct but he was forced to drop Alvarez and Kudus, we will see what happens when he has everyone available. I personally think he will go back to what he believes in for the last 12 games as he seems to be very stubborn….. but if he doesn’t and this continues then fair play to him and I wish him all the best
Must say kilmans defending 4 city 3rd was sunday league standard sorry but it was
One problem with him, he needs to speak better English, hard to make sense of what he’s saying . Well done last night👍
His English is better than my Spanish, I’m not too concerned by that as long as the players are fine with it
Still want loopy LOPPY OUT ASAP 💩💩💩💩
So you're just motivated by disliking the bloke then? Or that you love constant change? Don't you think after that he has bought himself a little time? I do. What more could he do?
Let's beat arsenal then sack loppy then you might be happy I'm afraid to say some will never if we win the next 10 games you will want rid of sullivan
A week is a long time in football. I’d just about given up on J Lo. Hope this form continues. Thx Gary 👍
