When you’re running any delay (as opposed to just reverb), it’s really hard not to sound like Edge’s less talented cousin on a bad day with a hangover. For me anyways…
A cool trick that not many people know with this is that by running it through your effect loop you are using the preamp sound of the amp (drive and all) and by running the direct out lead also into the front of a new amp, you get the exact same sound of the amp in the 2nd amp the direct out is plugged into.
What people don't realise about the DD2 and DD3 direct out is that while its in your effects loop chain the direct out can send the preamp section of your amp to a boring sounding amp and you can have the same sound in that amp. I discovered this while it was plugged in my jcm 2000 fx loop and the direct of the dd2 into my Bugera 1960 and I had 2 jcm2000's operating and sounding identical. I haven't tried it but I'm sure if you plugged it into your sound card and set up a cab sim you'd have a direct out from your amps fx loop into your interface
@@ruby_gleyzes The way the effects loop on an amp works is: Guitar > Preamp > Effects Loop > Power Amp > Speaker Cabinet. So if you have two signals coming out of a pedal, like with this one, you can run one of those signals to the effects loop input of a second amp. This way first amp's preamp tone is running into both amps, bypassing the preamp circuit of the second. There will still be some difference in sound based on differences in the power amp stage but the two amps will sound very similar.
Another great demo as usual. What's your opinion on the DD3 vs the Tera Echo? would you say there were similar or vastly different. I'm torn between the two. Any advice gratefully received.
can we set a couple of presets on this? I actually like a little bit of delay on my clean channel and dirty rhythm. And I go full blast on my solo channel. So, I need two delays actually, any opinions guys?! THANKS!! Great vid btw!
Although the RV6 is awesome, I would argue this is more versatile. You can get fantastic reverb tones out of this with the lower delay times as well as tons of delay options. To each their own though, both kick ass
Not necessarily. I know Alex Lifeson uses a delay pedal in his Limelight solo, the final note is held with delay while he kicks back into the chorus riff.
Had mine for almost 15 years. No switch breaks, it even sat submerged in water for almost a month when storage flooded and still works. Just because they call them stomp boxes doesn't mean you actually need to stomp on them. 👍
The first thing he plays sounds like a ringtone
RohanHowarth 😂😂😂
LOL
I was thinking the same thing
I thought it was my phone's alarm
I was thinking the intro to “Where the Streets Have No Name”
Start sounds like a royalty free version of where the streets have no name
Trent Hall lol 😂 you made me laugh mate.. that’s how you play when you’re thinking someone’s gonna sue you later on 😆

I thought that as well

I don't quite understand what you meant. Can someone explain it to me, please?

@@mikehuhn4604 Thanks a lot for the explanation!
@@mikehuhn4604 what is a pre amp?. Im actually new to electric guitar. I have an amp, a guitar and a zoom g1xon processor
I always appreciate Don's demos. The guy knows everything inside out and on top of that he's just a great player!
The delay pedal is great, of course, but wow - PRS makes the most beautiful guitars.
PRS?

Sweetwater is the classic rock of music stores! Big ups
thanks, can't wait to get one
What are the chords of that riff? It sounds great!
Can I use this unit without plugging in an AC adaptor?
It uses a 9v battery but since it's a digital delay, it will eat the battery quickly. I'd look into a rechargeable battery.
his boots are the best
The intro was Given To Fly by Pearl Jam?
Can i ask question? if it is normal to boss dd3 that it always turn on when i plug it on my psu even i turn it of it when i unplug it?
Yeah
Yes boss pedals all do this, they just want to be played so they all get excited when you plug them in
At the outro I was back playing Diablo 2
Got an older one. Nice pedal.
So the hold is a loop essentially
Came here in search 4 a new pedal :) sounds great
Very nice video
Thanks for watching!
Can it repeat at 5 milliseconds?
when my button is on the 800ms my pedal is not engaging. Any advice? I think my pedal just went kuput. :(
Since Boss pedals are just about bulletproof, my guess would be the battery
very cool pedal
Cool!!!!

they're super different. the tera echo is more of a modulated delay
Why this pedal so hard to find in Asia.. Hmm
Is this the one Justin Chancellor from T00L uses?
Justin and Adam use this I think
@@spacesquid2119 thank you good sir
@@spacesquid2119 I always have trouble finding the right delay setting for Justin's Lateralus delay tone
Welcome to the jungle we got fun and games
Can I use that for a piano
If you mean a keyboard yes, you can use any effects pedal for any keyboard as long as you have a way of amplifying the pedal (you need an output.)
HARwinsOUTagain over 10 years, Ive had one for about 15years LOL!
Doug Bline had mine for 20years

If I have Direct Out plugged in and the pedal in bypass, does the sound come out of the main output?
haha I love this pedal. But didn't it come out say....10 years ago?
HARwinsOUTagain Better late than never...
The pedal came out in the '80's
Its still on my pedalboard more than 30 years now:-)
quanto custa um pedal desse????
Just get the boss reverb pedal... it does more
But can it delay notes?

No
No

It's so freaking sensitive lol
what song was he playing at the beginning ?
I don't know but it sounds kinda U2-style
Pearl jam

Does this Boss pedal also buffer?
Ya.....alotta buffers....
I really like my DD 3 but don't get what purpose adding a patch cord to the direct out serves when it's not hooked up to another amp.
If you were to use two amps with this pedal, one would play the original signal and the other would play the delayed.
hes playing bird hunting rifle!..oh wait its just a PRS

The "hold" function is useless
Idk mate, it's nice for sampling chords and glitchy stuff. Perhaps not for everyone but it's nice to have that in a pedal that does a lot more.
Not necessarily. I know Alex Lifeson uses a delay pedal in his Limelight solo, the final note is held with delay while he kicks back into the chorus riff.
does not sound nice, like a door bell, i never understood the use of delay pedals...
Equanimity Denied Listen to some U2 songs. Edge uses it all the time for the sound
Or some bloc party, Russel Lissack is a beast
Still haven’t found what I’m looking for is a good delay song. They are actually widely used now though.
If you dont know, i guess you dont know. But dont worry, you'll get it

A piece of crap. I had two - both broke within 2-3 days. The inside switch is plastic and breaks!!

I know many, many other musicians that have owned DD3's, some going back to the 1980s with no repairs, constant touring, you name it.
TheCream14 guess you got defective ones.
