    O G DD3 has been on my board since there were no pedal boards ! The DD3T is now playing that position. Its the only digital thing I love since I'm from a different time before digital . Every sound from Sun Records Slapback to the future in this pedal. Way down in the mix it is like playing in a giant Arena on solos. The secret triplet and dotted 8th sub settings are also handy for that 1 time you need that. Trickey to do on the fly though. In tap mode the rhythm subdivisions are secondary on the mode knob but not written on the pedal. Really the setting is LtoR first two 9 to 10oclock second 2 at 12 oclock. This will cover a ton of classic songs. Actually very warm for a digital when used sparingly.Adding a simple Mxr tap button and its still a space saver muti delay at a fraction of the price. And finally Boss pedals are everywhere , and such a familiar and satisfying stomp.

    What I like about Boss pedals is you don't get the clicking sound coming out of your amp when turning the pedal on or off like happens in so many others, particularly the cheaper pedals. I wish reviewers would mention this annoying amplified clicking when they review pedals. I use a TC Electronics Flashback as it works for me without breaking the bank and the mini fits on my smallish board.

    Boss make the best digital delays. Whether they're emulating analog (RE-20) or doing a straight up digital they're so great. The amount of crazy stuff out of the DD3 is wild. First pedal I ever bought and still one of my favorite

  • @lostreb
    @lostreb 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    The first thing I really like about this pedal is having the option of not using tap tempo and using the time knob. I most definitely prefer dialing in the delay with the knob than tap tempo. Actually, that's the complaint with the delay pedals I own. My Wampler Tape Echo is my favorite pedal at this point. I prefer the analog delay. I'm seriously considering this Boss Pedal. (Just like with preferences with anything and everything in the guitar world, there is no right or wrong. It's all about personal preferences.) Great Demo and Video, Shane. Please keep these and this quality coming.

    Been using the DD3 Japanese since back when you just set them on the floor (no board). Good delay. Sometimes the artifacts they leave when moving between notes is annoying, but luckily not really noticeable in a band context. Thanks for all you do Shane.

  • @Vikkk1978

    Great sounding pedal. In my opinion, it is much closer to the old Japanese DD-3 than its predecessor, produced in Taiwan.
    The only thing I can't understand. The DD-8 is a little more expensive, but functionally it has wider capabilities, including imitation of the DD-3T (Varm mode).
    What is the point of buying a DD-3T then?

    I'm trying to nail the classic Flock of Seagulls I Ran type sound. Will the Boss nail it? According to the band, you need at least around 308 ms delay for that song. I may buy the pedal
    anyway, because so far all I have is delay and echo FX built into my few smaller modeling amps, which is ok, but it's not more than a 150 ms delay or so, even maxed out.

    Shane I have had so many delay pedals analog digital boutique ones with all kinds of settings and do all kinds of things and eventually I bought a boss dd3 digital delay and it has not left my pedal board it's not fancy it's not crazy it does what it does and it does it excellent and it doesn't ever let you down still on my board will probably always be there. The only one that stacks up to this would probably be the mxr carbon copy that's also a keeper.

    I think it has more of a walk-in wardrobe delay sound than a bathroom delay. Possibly a walk-in wardrobe with pine shelving and all clothing stored in order of colour and season. I think it could be a hats kept in the top left corner tone with the feedback control to the left and shoes on a shoe rack with the effects level turned right up.
    I once spent a considerable amount of time in a walk-in wardrobe and can state this from experience.

    The DD8 is an extra $84 dollars on the Sky website and gives you a lot more options so unless the price difference is a deal breaker I couldn't imagine selecting the DD3T over the DD8. I own a few delays and I find engaging tap tempo on the Boss pedals a little clunky compared to my Source Audio Nemesis or my (analog) Seymour Duncan Vapour Trail deluxe which have separate tap tempo switches on the pedal. Both of these were considerably more expensive that either Boss pedal though. You could plug an external switch into either Boss pedal for the tap tempo.
    Did you chew through the battery on the DD3? I know I did the first time I tried the DD8 before I got it connected to my power supply.

    • @JELIFISH19
      @JELIFISH19 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The DD-3 sounds different than the DD-8. The DD-8 digital sound is an emulation of a digital delay. The DD-8 has algorithms. The DD-3 circuit is the delay. It's the same difference as a multi-effects processor vs normal pedals.
