I have been searching through TH-cam for excellent tutorials for years. JL you are simple the best. Your work is exceptional. When I see video with JL, I go for it. You are impacting lives. Please, please, we need more.
Hi Justin, I'm so glad found this channel, my current job is involved in skin retouching in the aesthetics clinic and this is so helping me out to improve my capacity for retouching. Thank you :). Please consider uploading your video weekly, because it's hugely helpful for many people. Can't wait for your next video
Wow this is great, I wanted to achieve a rosy skin tone, in person my skin is rosy white but on camera I don't know why it looks so dull and yellow, it took me the entire week to tweak my pics, I'll be going back to see your video for my future editing, thanks a lot! :)
I really love your portraits, and your videos are very informative. I was wondering if you ever do male portraits, and if the editing would be different in that case? Or do you maybe know photographers who are specialized in male portraits and editing?
While Photoshop has long been the go-to, Stylar AI is quickly becoming the new standard for digital art. The level of realism and detail it can achieve is seriously next level - it brings your ideas to life in the most captivating, hyper-realistic way imaginable.
This tutorial focuses more on how to brush up a photo for Instagram. I much prefer the tone of the models skin in the original image. It was more natural and the end result left a blueish gray tint on her skin (mainly seen on her shoulder) which just doesn't look good. Sure, the portrait "pops" more, but these definitely aren't "perfect skin tones" by all means, and her skin is left oversaturated. I think you took it overboard on this one. Less is more sometimes, and this is a perfect example of that.
when u go to camera raw after you've already been to photoshop, will it take the original raw as baseline or your already developed photoshop image, i.e. losing information of the raw?
You don't have to first create a new layer to make a stamped visible layer. Shift+command+option+E will make a make a stamped layer above your work in one go. Great video as always.
But do you know if you made a new layer(on top of your active layer or on top), used brush clone stamp tool etc. and then used the shortcut it will make a stamp visible layer in that layer. That's why he told to do so, it will work for all and no one will face any problem. BTW i too thought this until I saw the problem happening in my projects. So, it's not your fault. It's time who teaches us.
@@JEDINITE30 Problem is it will not make a new stamp visible layer on a stamp visible layer (you created before) and Second Problem is it will paste new stamp visble layer on a blank layer which u have used for some slight editing with brush. For example it will paste new stamp visible layer on a new layer u used for blemish removal if it's on the active layer. BTW I use CS6 maybe it's changed in newer versions. So forgive me if am wrong but ya, don't forget to tell me if I m wrong.
@@DEEPAKYADAV-wn3dk Maybe it is CS6. But I've been using photoshop since cs2 and I can't recall that being an issue. If it was there, I don't remember. In this video, creating a new layer and then using the keyboard shortcut to put a stamped visible layer in the new layer isn't necessary, it's just and extra step in the workflow. The keyboard shortcut for a stamped visible layer is all that is needed to get the exact same end result, which is all of your work put together in a new layer above the stack..
@@JEDINITE30 ya but as I told I face issues. And I know too it's not necessary but Justin can tell what his students gonna use and do so he told a general method that everyone can use without any problem. Nice to talk to you.
Wow ur doing it to perfection love the tones ur eye seeing, tho would add a liitle retouche to her sholder where transition is between highlights and shadows or in midtones the pinkish comes unnatural out there, but look this is if we talk about perfection, im about 98%before ir level, but seing the video just jumped in eyes, grate video and i learned a lot of it, in reality ive never retouched this way and im impressed srep by step whats going on with the image, love it, truly worth subscribing, thank u!
Thank you Vivek it’s my pleasure man! I’m glad to hear it, add me on Instagram and share your work with me there would love to see. What are your thoughts on this new video btw? Much more coming, stay tuned! 🙌
Thank you for this. Nevermind the assholes in the comment section who don't know how to appreciate free educational content. It seems you separate and color the shadow side separately. This might be a more precise way of doing things. Can't wait to try.
Hello, please help. When I hold down the cmd key and drag the layer mask from below to the selective color layer, my layer mask below went away. It usually doesn't but what I accidentally did was when the pop about replacing the layer mask came up I check the box 'Don't show again". Now, whenever I do this by holding down the cmd key and dragging the layer mask to the layer above, my layer mask at the bottom goes away. I will not stay like yours anymore. Please help.
Hi, Justin. I recently started following u and I noticed that u never use Lightroom. Unfortunately. I'm not good in Photoshop, so I'm wondering if u ever show something similar for Lightroom. Thanks.
Found your channel randomly , if you could add that raw image which you edit that would be more helpful for beginners since we don't get our own image as of now ... Nice vid though
Always love your video it's very informative. But I hate when I don't see consistent videos from you. Please take the TH-camr/content creator job seriously 💖🙏
Love the edit. But you flattened the subject face a lot. The depth you had in the face was good. If more light needed be in the face a reflector should've been used or her turned more into the light. After the edit there were noticeable Hotspots. And the skin was little over cooked.. but the workflow was awesome. But just lit wrong.
Most every technique used in this video is something I avoid, especially for skin tones. Might be good for a thumbnail graphic but not for a regular size photo/print.
Helpful video for understanding the reasons why we make certain modifications.

Nice tutorial! One thing: you don’t need to create a blank layer before doing a Stamp visible command. Just go to the top layer and hit the shortcut.
Oh, I loved your tutorial. It's simple and deep. I couldn't find an explanation like this at all. Great. Keep posting more Photoshop tutorials

Ah appreciate it haha!
Please please make a video about bright airy colour tone 😌
OK I will

You've got to hold down the Alt or Option key (not Command). Let me know if this helps.
