THIS was rock and roll. No fancy, expensive sets. Just 5 extremely talented musicians under some colored lights who could bring the house down. The playing is tight, the vocals are strong. At the time, it never occurred to me that some day it might end.
My first concert Saga opened my favorite all time when your in early teens songs reminded you of things that whole album was killer

As Bob Seger once sang, "Ain't got money but I got a whole lot of love." We were so rich then. Somehow it all got replaced with the love of Money (and we are sadly re-learning that lesson).
@MetallicBill right. But real rock bands don't care about award shows. They care about concert tickets and album sales. Some of the best are critically unknown but their fans will praise them forever. 😁

Billy was the jam in the 80s for me. Giving some props to Jeff Golub on lead guitar, he had a great sound.
The whole band was great.
This is rock and roll with pure talent and real singing !!!! No bs backing tracks or auto tune. Damn I miss the '80's !!!

Billy Squier was my favorite Rock group in the 70s , 80s. And he never disappoints so much energy. He will always be one of my favorite. 🎤😄 🎸

It's a shame that these great songs rarely get played live.billy is a wealthy man who doesn't need to tour but even if he went out for 2 months one summer I think he would be suprised at the size of audiences waiting for him.

They were great friends. He even wrote a song for Freddie when he died called "I Have Seen You Fly". Freddie did the 41 second intro and backing vocals for Billy's Love is The Hero.
I saw Queen and Mr. Squire live in Cincinnati on the Emotions in Motion tour. My friends and I went to see B.S. and I thank God everyday that we saw Queen.

Squier needs to be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Amazing songwriter and musician. This concert was probably the best lineup of his backing band. Great musicians all around.

at the moment Billy Squier hit it big ( as I remember ) there was no other that sounded as exciting to me.
Yeah, I predicted he'd have more staying power. He fizzled while Eddie Money stayed popular.
I remember waiting for In the Dark, and The FIXX, and I think something by Duran Duran.. (and im a metal freak) … the 80’s were a great time - never forget The Cars either… another “perfect” band.
When THE STROKE came on the radio…people turned it up and shut up 🤐…..
I didn't think he fizzled so much as accomplished what he wanted. He didn't pursue the fame and fortune circuit because he was too talented to compromise.
I just love the fact that he's just as good live as he is when you listen to his albums with the help of the studio. Some bands are not as good live. I also love the way he constantly interacts with his audience!!!! A true professional. Such a talent

Props to Billy Squier - every live performance I've seen of him, to this day, sounds just like the studio version. Few live acts pull that off. Great performer!
40 years later and I'm still rocking with Billy!
It's more that the studio albums were recorded to capture the energy and sound of his live act.
I saw this tour, great show. Billy opened up for Foreigner. Can you imagine how great that was?? Yes, I was alive in 1981, was 15.

Saw him tour same year opened for whitesnake in liverpool .i was hooked at 18yrs old now 57 still follow him ..
I was 17 when I saw him the first time in '81 and 24 the second time in '88.
Don't Say No was the album of my high school years. It's just a flat out pleasure to find this concert here.

@@MikeMarden1 I doubt that is a 50s burst. It has a flame top, the finish is bright and the tuners are chrome. Probably something newer at that time. But it would definitely be vintage now.

OMG LOVE THIS!!! I am a teenager again back in that front row - and the smiles I got from him I still remember today! Love his song writing style - intelligent and well done!
With my 1st electric guitar & a "Don't say no" album,i locked myself away for a year & learned how to play guitar & this album note for note..For that i'm eternally grateful to Billy Squire..Dude was a top tier performer back in the day...A hit machine & a hell of a guitarist too..He'll always be one of my heroes along with several others who inspired me over the years..

MTV played that concert almost every weekend and clips from the show all day long in 81-82
I was born in 82’. I love this dudes music. With the lack of good music at least what is heard by the masses, it is far easier to find older good music than it is to find good new music, that is why this stuff will live on.

I saw Billy in 82' and Def Leppard was the opener. I was 17 with my girl in my 76' Fire Bird . Damn, life's been good to me.

I saw Billy LIVE in about 1983 at the Long Beach Arena, CA and that show was one of the single greatest Live performances I’ve ever been to. He was just incredible. Every song sounded just like the album tracks. He was just a superbly amazing performer. Why has he been forgotten?

@@humanbeing2420 Yep. It's a shame, but that's the reason. Billy himself has said so in several interviews. It was a terrible video, but good artists should be allowed to make mistakes and it shouldn't have ruined his whole career.

Woot! I lived either in Maple Grove or Northfield, MN when you saw that show! I'm maybe 2-3 years younger. Billy just floored me in those days. He was such a great songwriter. Whenever the show was, I know I heard about it on KQRS, and I was envious of kids like you who got to go.

I saw Squier live in Springfield, MA. Can't remember who opened for him, just remember he was fantastic live, still enjoying the tunes again some years later.

I joined the USAF in august 82, drove across the country from Rhode Island to San Antonio Texas in my 68 ford torino, three cassette tapes, one was Billy Squire, the other Aldo Nova
I remember 9th grade, first concert, first real girlfriend and we went together to the show. During the encore they pulled her up on stage and I didn't see nor hear from her till school the next Monday and she would never tell me...... so I dated her best friend. Good times man!

Great show! I never realized Billy was such a good giitarist - I figured he was just a singer/strummer & his guitarist did all the lead work, but Billy really ripped it out a time or two!

I saw billy idol and the cult at the same about time and place.
Saw him at The Grove in Anaheim in 2015 I think.... He is still unbelievable .... Also saw him touring in Ringo's All Star Band before that and he just teased with 2 of his early hits.
I was at this concert. Omg I already thought he was great but after the concert I was like this guy is better live. He's still one of my favorites. You know how to rock Billy.
