The language of the Lizardmen is called Saurian. The vocabulary and dialect varies depending on the Lizardmen sub-species, as you explained in the video. Skinks have the mental capacity to learn other languages, like that of humans for example, but it is extremely hard for them to pronounce anything but their own language.
hey loremaster i loved this format! lizardmen are my favorite fantasy species of all times so every extra information i can have on them is very much appreciated :)
Do high elves age in the traditional sense, or do they just persist as long as they want to live. So why doesn't Alith Anar look old but Hellebron does, even though they have both been around since the sundering?
Liked this a lot. Don't know much about Lizardmen, they're not a race I find interesting. However, I've come to like them a bit because of this video. Good on you, Sotek. Hope to see more of these. I'm still waiting on that Archaon vid! Lol
there's nothing more satisfying than seeing a squad of temple guards with their slann mage priest just wrecking shit in tabletop... oh boy i do not regret ever picking the lizardmen to be my faction when picking one when i started... it's literally hilarious seeing your enemies trying to either focus all of their might on your templeguards, then have your units completly end up flanking, or just having your templeguards mow down everything in their way : D SO god damn hyped for them to come out... now if only there was the custom unit editors, i'd love to remake my own personal Warhammer army... that would be amazing
I'll put the last two questions in this one. What is the difference between the Sword of Khaine located in Ulthuan and the Warpsword of Khaine that is currently wielded by Malus Darkblade? Is it like an Axe of Grimnir situation, where Thorgrim, Grombrindal, & Gotrek have all three of the Ancestor God's legendary weapons? What is your opinion on the topic of why White Lions aren't a mount choice for the High Elves? It seems like an awfully missed opportunity.
Hi, I just wanna ask a qestion about the Prohpet of sotek. Did he died in the book temple of the serpent ? Or that was another and younger prophet of sotek ? Thanks for answer.
Ok, now we're talking. I really hope this gets answered. What is your opinion on the under characterization of Finubar, the Phoenix King? I personally think it's a shame that he is the only faction leader with little to no lore. He doesn't even have a model in tabletop which I find ridiculous. I myself have a head canon surrounding the Seafarer that makes him much cooler and important.
I also have two more questions after this. What do you think of the lack of a relationship between Finubar and Alarielle? I again find it disappointing. Aenarion has been the only Phoenix King that married for love that we know of, and while I know it is common for both Phoenix Kings and Everqueens to have consorts/lovers, why couldn't Finubar and Alarielle have been this icon of marriage for the High Elves? I personally hate the Tyrion/Alarielle pairing, because it goes directly against his loyalty to Finubar. I would much rather have approved of a relationship between Tyrion and say a female White Lion of Chrace.
I was always under the impression that the lizardmen's ability to replenish numbers was based on what the slann make the spawning pools create? Is that right or is it more like the STC with 40k where they create things based on the build queue that they were originally given?
I notice than you said that there are pockets Of Lizardmen that have gone feral and forgotten the Great Plan because they have no Slann to guide them. Is it possible than if a Slann was transported there, they could be re-integrated into the Great Plan? For instance you said the the Southlands was just about out of Saurus warriors. For instance would it be possible to transport via the Slann's magic saurus warriors from one of these pockets, once they were re-integrated to the Southlands?
Are temple guard spawned specifically to be temple guard, or are they just saurus that are particularly good at their roles. If they are the second option then how does a saurus go beyond being a temple guard onto like a scar veteran or old blood if they were a proficient fighter?
salem alnaas Grimgor. He's beaten Archaon and Tyrion has almost been beaten by much weaker characters whilst Grimgor slaps weaker characters around like bitches
I thought Skaven were classified as a destruction army like the Green skins until AoS. that not how it is? Also i thought the Skinks were not created like the saurous and the slaag(toad guys). i thought they just joined up with them cause they found them safe to be around.
The asuryan were the very first high elves created by the old ones, the most powerful ones so instead of worshipping old ones they are prideful and worship their really OP ancestors
I'm not Sotek but I'll give your question a shot. The High Elves (and the Dark Elves as well for that matter) are both well rounded, versatile forces. Their main weaknesses are a lack of artillery, smallish unit sizes, and the fact that their infantry can't take as much punishment as some other factions. They're not quite fragile enough to be considered glass canons, but they aren't going to be matching the dwarfs in contest of endurance for instance.
Gotrek Gurnisson You mean the war Malekith tricked you both into, and you were too foolish to even notice? The war that bled you both dry until you were naught but shadows of your former selves?
Question if a large massive army of chaos dwarves straight from zaar naggrund landed on lustria (complete with demon engines large numbers of infernal guard legions and demons and artillery ) would the lizardmen be exterminated by them (and I mean legion after legion like you would see guarding the black tower itself ) also would chaos dwarves be able to maintain controll over lustria and utterly annialite lizardmen
This is my question. How strong are and what kind of quality do the average weapons by the Lizardmen have? And I'm so going to rename either a Slann or Saurus Old Blood Chili Peppa.
Lizardmen make their weapons out of a material called Obsinite. Its stronger than metal and only they know how to process the material. And so Lizardmen weapons are of high quality.
Chubbyninja Ninja-Brony He has access to the same resources as everyone else, you just need to know where to find it... I think 99% of the Lizardmen players know, what Loremaster Sotek knows about Lizardmen.
First of all love the stuff you do. Do all the elven races in the Warhammer world decent from the high elves? And if they do, how did they become dark elves wood elves etc.
Kristian Ludvigsen yes, they all originated from the high elves. The dark elves diverged from the high elves due to a curse set on their blood line, as well as paying fealty to the darker elf gods, and siding with melekith. The wood elves are the remnants of the high elf colonies of the old world, after we kicked their ass right out!
I still love the time I had been a little careless and got a Rat Ogre unit to flank charge my Temple Guard that was already fighting a ton of Stormvermin (I had had a Stegdon guarding their flank, but Skaven war machines... nastier than thought at that point, and then, tehre was no steggie). Basically, I had maybe a dozzen temple guard and a Slann. Five of them survived that flank charge, they held, and, well, next turn a bit of Light magic buffing them, and gone were the Stormvermin and Rat Ogres ... one angry Skaven player lost by something like 9-7 victory points
Why would women also fight in high elven armys (not commanders or sorceress but in the front line gritty combat) if they are on the decline? it seems counter intuitive to through the women in battle in the front lines if they want the race to survive as a whole.
It's more of a speculating meta-question. But why do you think Games workshop decided to make Finubar such a lacklustre king and have Tyrion be the central character of the High Elf narrative?
The funniest one is that some think in lore Gor-Rok could beat Kroq-Gar. Like Saurus get bigger and stronger as they age. Krog-Gar has at least 4-6 thousand years on Gor-Rok
So, it is pretty much clear and stated that the Elves were created by the Old Ones, and from what I've gathered, the Elves worship the Old Ones to a lesser degree, or at least admire them. I want to know, are the Elven Gods actually Old Ones, is there any sort of connection between them at all? And if they are Old Ones, how it comes that the Lizardmen don't worship the Elven Gods as well, and the Elves don't worship Sotek and the other entities the Lizardmen do, too?
Gabriel Perrella it is a theory that all the gods of the "lesser" races are actually old ones. This would include the gods of man ( before sigmar ), the elves, and the dwarves. It is not confirmed however. As well, there is the theory that the gods are more likely higher beings of each race, such as sigmar became. This applies highly to the dwarven gods, who were perhaps the first and most powerful dwarves created by the old ones. This could apply to other races as well, with mortals ascending rather than being old ones.
It could be also that the gods could have, let's say, popped into reality because of all the people worshipping them/thinking about them, kinda like how the Chaos Gods came to be. There's this theory I saw that Sotek could be some sort of lesser Chaos God. Though the mortals that ascended into godhood like the Ancestor Gods and Sigmar throws a wrench in that theory. Still. Okay. Thanks for answering my questions, and pointing those theories out. :)
I am not a great High elf fan (I've only fought them in tabletop as Chaos, never played as them because i hate them and find them a bit boring overall :P), so I thought about asking you a question about their day to day lore of civilian's role / status amongst the High Elves, like how do they treat them? Are they just rulers regarding middle/low classed Elves? I've always thought their naive view on the world to be like the same way they treat they own people of the lower classes, like (pure blood or whatever).

It's really weird, but so awesome seeing my name in a TH-cam description. Cheers. Great video as always Sotek.

Love this series of videos.
Thanks again Loremaster!

The amount of Information in your head related to the warhammer world makes me jealous !!! Amazing

Less is more.
GlamdringandOrcrist the sword wielded by malus is likely not THEE sword of khaine.
Also, I have the second axe of grimnir.

Is there anything known about Elithis and the High Elven colonies (that used to be) there?
Are the Slann capable of communicating with other races, such as the High Elves?
I also have two more questions after this.
What do you think of the lack of a relationship between Finubar and Alarielle?

I have a question on the high elves. Were they created by the high elven gods or by the old ones?
By the old ones
You can check his other videos to learn about that

The asuryan were the very first high elves created by the old ones, the most powerful ones so instead of worshipping old ones they are prideful and worship their really OP ancestors

Nate Walther correct, however they may not have the army size to field enough power without women.
Nate Walther feminists infiltrated the military and demanded it.
just a comment, i can barely hear you so maybe if you spoke a little bit louder it would be nice, still nice Q&A series
It's more of a speculating meta-question. But why do you think Games workshop decided to make Finubar such a lacklustre king and have Tyrion be the central character of the High Elf narrative?
Riley Jones because the writer of MY books mentioned tyrion and teclis, and started them on the path of becoming real characters.
Makes sense. I think your books are the only things that are produced at a good profit. Says a lot about your awesomeness.
I like this
The puns with the lizardmen's lords names were not eliminated in TWW, they are just all in Dutch!
