You'd be better off with using an 02J shifter and tower than the 02A. You can further upgrade that with a Sigma-5 short shifter and a shift lever from an Audi TT.
200 likes already, yes Ron!!! 😂 I've got a 25.4 master cylinder with the 996.351.425 & 996.351.426 callipers on mine and the pedal is perfect, although I have the now discontinued 6KL615301 305mm Ibiza discs but the 280mm shouldnt feel any different, unfortunately you can't fit 15"s over mine so those cute Teledial's would have to go back on the shelf 😂 Good luck with the move, exiting times ahead!!!
Great to hear, I've been having a search for people using a 25.4 but you're the first one! We are on the 986 part number calipers but thats very reassuring. 😁🎉 thanks for watching!
@@SuperRon I needed to use a manually adjustable brake bias valve for the rears though as the mk2 rear disc set up is too strong for the body weight of mk1's and especially Caddy's so you might want to look into that. Thanks for producing 😂👍
Hey Ron, 2 questions - Are u going to run brake restrictors for the rear? Do u need to adjust the brake linkage rod in the engine bay at all? After you have had it disconnected? The build is epic mate!
Yes we've got some mk2 gti (I think) inline restrictiors for the rear discs, and no I haven't adjusted anything on the linkage from how it was. All seems ok so far and pedal is in the same place, but the real test will be when it's all plumbed up. Thanks for watching 😁
I don't get the handbrake kabel problem every thing should fit at least on the left hand drive cars, plus the sirocco gtx got disc on the rear. Regards sören
The adapter you got for the handbrake cabels, looks nice though, in the old days you got the g60/vr6 brakemaster cylinder from memory it's 22mm, and the girling g60 calipes from an audi s2, they are 2 pistons, but the brembo's are lighter 😋 regards sören
Can somebody help me source a 25,4 mm master cylinder but with 4 outlets for my Brazilian VW pick UP, i am using a similar brake setup, with 23,8mm MC, and i dont like the feel of my brakes :(
Please don't run those 5mm spacers. A few years ago my mate had them on his mk2 gti, and they quite literally shattered when he was doing 50, ruined a wheel, brakes and the suspension on the front end.
They look amazing could you please tell me the full part numbers for the calipers
These are adapters, and they give all the part numbers in there:

Amazing, stunning engine bay....its coming along quite well, looking forward to the end result!
Thanks for watching 😁
Looking good 👍🏻
Thanks for watching 😁
SR you mechanical god 🙏
Thanks for watching 😁
Absolutely awesome 🙌
Thanks for watching 😁
Looking for the 4 to 5 stub adapters, where did you get them?
Thanks
The owner got them second hand with the wheels so I don't know I'm afraid 👍
In front breaks did you use the original disc?
Can you pass me the link for the adapter please 🙏
They are corrado G60 280mm discs and these adapters: www.retrofication.co.uk/562.html
Awesome upgrade brakes
Thanks for watching 😁
How many MM were the spacers plus adapters?
Wheel specs are 6jx15 et52.3, and the Porsche adapters are 20mm plus another 5mm spacer
What size are those tires they look real good man good job
Fronts are 185/40 15 and rears 195/45 15, thanks for watching 😁

We've got the whole 02a setup here for the build, maybe its something he can upgrade to in the future if he thinks it needs it 👍
@@SuperRon I'm not saying swap the whole transmission, just the shifter and tower. It's a major upgrade to the 02A stuff.
Also busy with one(from south africa)
Nice 😁 thanks for watching

@rawbennett we have been talking about exactly this! Weather to use the mk2 inline valves or an adjustable one, this has sealed the deal! Thank you 👍

Brakes look sweet. Where did you get the new servo?

That 25.4mm MC will also give you a pretty stiff pedal feel compared to a 22mm. Something to consider.
We've not used the 25.4mm before but this is what was recommended by retrofication for the 4pots so we will have to see.
@@SuperRon I've been down this road before. Sometimes it's a misconception thinking bigger calipers need a massive MC.

The vw transporter ones we have here are 2 port like these. Not sure if they do 4 port ones? Easy enough to put a Tee in though

Must have been something else going on there, loose bolts or something, theres nothing wrong with using spacers with the correct bolts
Which model Porsche callipers are those?
They are boxster 986, the adapters give you which part number calipers you need as there are two types.
Change to wheel studs
What a great looking little car. The engine bay looks amazing. You’ll be painting the car as well won’t you?
Thanks for watching 😁 yes the plan is to get it all on the road and mechanically tested and then do the restoration on the outside.
