In this session, David takes you through the nuances of the sitting elongation exercise, combining gentle spinal elongation with focused breathing techniques to not only improve posture but also to relieve tension associated with scoliosis and kyphosis. He carefully explains how to correctly perform this exercise, ensuring you understand how to elongate the spine effectively while seated, which is crucial for creating balance and alignment in a scoliotic or kyphotic spine. This technique is also the basis for exercises in The Schroth Method.
David also highlights what individuals with these conditions should look out for when performing this exercise, ensuring safety and maximizing therapeutic effect. He emphasizes the importance of controlled breathing as a means to facilitate spinal elongation, demonstrating how proper technique can lead to significant improvements in posture and pain relief.

Thank you for sharing! This demonstration is very clear ^^
I want to ask a question, is it better to practice elongation in any specific position? Like standing or sitting or both ? Thank you!

I would start in sitting and then as you get better at it you can try in different positions. Sometimes it is helpful to start lying on your back even if it is a challenge to do it in sitting.

Please is there a personal assistance to help with a left thoracic scoliosis developed September 2023. Getting worried and very disturbed as I don’t know how it happened. Have been on physio therapy but don’t know if it’s helping

With a left thoracic curve, I definitely would recommend working with a Schroth therapist or at least someone who has seen a lot of scoliosis. There are many factors, but I would seek out someone who has experience with this. Thanks for the question.
