- Matthew loves buses, and if his room-cum-bus-museum is not able to convince you, Matthew turned down three university offers to be a bus interchange supervisor. His passion for all things bus-related extends to his daily work serving customers and assisting bus drivers in operations.
Taufiq is a firm believer that it is more important to know where you are heading than where you come from. Using his profession as a barber, he creates new haircuts and avenues for those neglected by society. Julianah was a self-professed whiny kid and a career in the armed forces seemed unlikely. That was until she found meaning as a guide and mentor to young recruits where they can in turn find their vocation in life.

Matthew is an outstanding young man. If only every Singaporean gen Z is like him - friendly and with a heart to serve the public for good in whatever vocation they do - Singapore's future would definitely be very bright
Exactly! Not to mention he is so well-spoken and eloquent
Every gen z is like him. It's the boomers, gen x and millennials who ruined the world with their greed and selfishness
Agreed.
Yes Matthew is very passionate young man whom has a bright future ahead !
i am trying to be PAP enthu too
but i have trouble knowing somebody who knows somebody thats already in the party
how can i get in?
Only a bus enthusiast like Matthew will give real honest feedback to the company rather than those yes people who sit around the CEO.
I think there are people like that in big organizations. Just how accessible they are to the upper management and if their supervisors would listen to the suggestions.
Matthew is the type of people we need more in the society. Went for his passion and dreams, connecting people. Nice episode CNA!
Nothing is more beautiful than seeing someone works with their heart and full of love, best of success fo Matthew,Taufiq, Julianah and millions of other like them all over this world
All the 3 characters featured here are ordinary people like you and me yet they found great passions and purpose for life and they go for it! I like all 3 of them. Matthew is simple and kind. He pursues what he likes and does not buy into the rat race, material success. He is happy every single day. Parents please bear Matthew's example in mind and don't stress your kid unnecessarily to go to good schools and become doctors and lawyers. Taufiq went through some mistakes and difficulty in life but he was not beaten down. In fact setbacks in life made him treasure what he has and to empathise with others and pay it forward. I respect him. Juliana is beautiful in her own ways. She can be both gentle and tough, i would love to have a friend like her!
We need to support more of our locals in blue-collar jobs! Jobs like these are vital to our everyday life :D
Jobs are just jobs. In today's era, we should no longer view jobs as white Vs blue collar.
So less money
@@BestFoodReviewFeatured If everyone has the same mentality as that then a country would cease to exist. Nobody would be driving buses or serving you at your favourite F&B place, or even collecting trash
@@captainbroady that’s why we hire foreign ah neh and china
Editor was cooking on that transition at 16:20, CNA please let the editor know their work does not go unnoticed
CNA usually engages 3rd party vendors to shoot their documentaries, so they don't have in-house editors
The guy - Matthew is really quite a looker and he is doing a very respectable job
43:35 “have you tried switching it off and on?” applies to everything! 😂
I love how CNA portrays also people who is not public figure, because everyone is extraordinary, and we all worth a standing ovation at least once in our lives.
I love the bus enthusiast! He's so passionate and adorable!!
What Taufiq said about barbers being a male representative in the lives of boys at risk resonated with me. I'm so impressed with the barber shop being more than a barber shop.
wa can tell Matthew is legit humble and kind.👍👍
One of, if not the best episodes of CNA Insider - has soul, depth and insight.
I can't agree more
Matthew is some guy.👍 be kind to bus drivers.
This Mr Matthew will sure be promoted to higher level for his sincere hardwork and care . .for his services
such a good episode. the stories are amazing, literally the heart of the show
As we watched this programme, my husband and I felt as though we were back in Singapore on hearing the sounds of the bus bells. Took us back to the happy times when we took the wonderful buses.
Thank you Matthew and CNA for this outstanding story - people like Matthew keep society moving forward and we should look to take care of them with better pay/conditions.
Love these people. They are locals that appreciate what system has to be
thank you for your service and enthusiasm.
He's living a dream i wish I could. I'm an avid bus enthusiast specifically the Durban Transport municipal buses. I remember wanting to be a bus driver and always wanting to go by bus whether if it was the main Aqualine bus or the smaller Mynah bus. However the ANC😭😭😭 messed that service so badly that i try to get any picture i can of the "new" and old buses. I just wish the service will be brought back to its former glory.
I wish Matthew all the best.
That is a blessing to earn a living from something you love
This is interesting and warm. Best greetings from Bucharest (Romania)!
Wow respect to this young man - his passion and competence for the role is admirable
Matthew is so cute & handsome as well. He loves his job & it really shows in his attitude as well. He is so adorable as well.
Many ppl want to date him lolll
Love this ! such a charming tale
You can clearly see how Matthew is so passionate about what he does! Hope that his passion will create better opportunities for him in the future!
Thank you for introducing us with Matthew. Wanna see you Matthew once visiting Singapore again
I followed this dude on ig previously when I saw his passion for buses Lolol.glad to see his dreams fully come true
Julianah is very passionate in what she does. Being an SAF psychiatrist is by no means an easy job. Very tough yet at the same time fulfilling. On the other hand, Matthew also plays an important role in the transport industry. Without ppl like Matthew, smooth transit from places to places cannot occur. Kudos and salute to all these people who have been contributing to Singapore with their passion.
yesterday i saw him at woodlands bus interchange and he was definitely very frendly
Love CNA Insider, this was awesome
Mathew displayed strong passion for what he likes to do
I have a classmate in hs before who’s a bus enthusiast. When I see cool busses I send it to him. 😅 might send this documentary to him now
these are the people that makes our world go round..not the crypto bros..God Bless them always!!
At least he knows his passion.
An interesting documentary😊
Used to take last bus 14 around midnight from katong to bukit merah
please put subtitles, the youtube auto-generated subtitles doesn't make any sense
Hi @Cna,Your time stamp title for Matthew 'bust operation' think there a error in the spelling
While unusual but i envious him for he has sth he looks forwards to and loves
And Service 14 has lots of CDGEs too last time

Matthew is winning life, what a chad.
Army is not about “equipping soldiers with life skills”, or doing anything for the benefit of the soldiers - it’s all about achieving the mission objectives for these commanders - the soldiers are fodder and will be sacrificed for the commanders’ survival. Hard truth.
I will visit Yishun bus interchange to see Matthew.
I like yr piggy bank...good ideas Matt
Big ups
Future Transport Minister
I notice how the bus is always empty in this video.. that's not the bus I know.
Where do these young men drive their buses?
I was in Sg early this year, and all the drivers i saw were over 50 and didn't know English.
I was a tourist who had a problem with my card, but all the driver did was yell to me in Chinese!
Thankfully, 2 older Singaporean men who spoke English were kind enough to help.
It depends on the which bus they were assign to and the industry is still pretty much dominated by those well above 30 odd. Those younger ones generally work for the private bus company as such Tower or Go-Ahead SG Buses
SBS & SMRT does have a small pool of younger workers but its not very often you will encounter them on your daily commute. And the workforce are made up of mainly Malaysian or Chinese workers, and we do have a moderate percentage of local workers.
Next time when your visiting Singapore again, instead of using the ezlink card you can opt to use your credit card to tap on the machine instead.
@@ezekielk.3629 thx ... that's what I used, actually, a debit card.
Actually, young men like these driving buses and taxis are few and far in between in Singapore, in part due to the toxic culture inculcated by the older generations of viewing these jobs as of a "lower class" as compared to the typical white-collared jobs. Hence most of the workers in these kind of jobs are either older Singaporeans who have been in the line for decades or foreign migrant workers.
Sg employed driver fm China also.....that can speak simple English

Recap by Tammy AI
The Singaporean public passengers will probably mistaken him for a Malaysian Chinese boy working as bus supervisor for bus company.
Interesting…I know of train enthusiasts but not for buses.
Wait aren't you the guy who drives A&S buses
Lol you're right. I had to look it up to be sure. Means he's probably just barely a year into his job at Yishun bus interchange.
very heartwarming... but then give FT all the 2m per year 3m per year jobs while this guy 50k a year gg
his wife got YAMS
Ain't that heejin
Nope
not as much bus content as I expected :(
Yes but the whole point of this is that they all have their individual lives and jobs but have one thing in common: Connectivity in their lives with the public bus transportation.
@@imranbecks yes but then might as well feature my life since I use buses too.
the connection to buses is so thin as to be meaningless.
only the bustaku guy's story was really interesting.
@@alui5362 Matthew is basically the starring role in this episode, so naturally his story was the most interesting.
for sure, i find the features on people like that so interesting. there was another traintaku one. and one on nerf guns. basically, people with very niche and interesting hobbies.@@imranbecks

Hong Kong bus system management. People and drivers should take a look at their Singaporean bus services, They are enjoying serving people first ✌️👍👌❤️🤣
What an interesting and meaningful documentary 👍🏻 Kudos to Matthew for your enthusiasm 🚍 and for your hard work, along with the bus captains, in ensuring smooth bus operations at Yishun Interchange 🫡
