It's way better than 99.9% of what Mediacorpse put out which are crap
steven deserves a pay raise for always putting his own health at risk. lol
steven thinks so too...🤣
wah lao foc durian , sign me up, haha
only 5seeds a day , complain so much ! ommmgggg
I ll the one who never think twice for this challenge, bring me in, loves durian.
Durian smells so bad
"2.."
"2 seeds?"
"No, 2 fruits"
That got me rolling

0:30: 🍈 Durian is a highly loved fruit in Singapore, with adults consuming 2-4 kilograms of it every year.
5:00: 🍈 Durians are nutritious and good for our health, containing minerals and vitamins including B9 (folate) which is essential for red blood cell formation, genetic material production, and cell division.
9:07: 🍈 Steve is tasked with eating one durian every day for two weeks to test its effects on his body.
14:39: 🍈 Drinking from the husk of a durian may help cool you down and remove heatiness, but there is no scientific evidence to support this belief.
18:55: ⭐ Durian D variety has the best nutrition with the highest amount of vitamin C and moderate calories.
Recap by Tammy AI
Thanks Tammy Al ☺
Durian also is high and carb and sugar. Not good for diabetic people.
Using the honeydew emoji for the durian…..there should be a durian emoji 😅🥲
Here's a durian lover from Vietnam. Good to know it's a healthy fruit. And I must say I have always enjoyed Talking Point episodes by Steve! Always so entertaining and educational!
Omg Steven sacrificing his body and health again. Dude seriously needs to get hazard pay 😅
Paid with free durians haha
I call it a blessing for this case
Steve seems more excited than reluctant when told to eat everyday for 2 weeks. 😅
This is a really awesome content...many questions i had about durians have either been confirmed or answered.
I'm from Scotland and I LOVE durian. My wife is from Sg and every time we visit Sg I eat durian as much as possible haha.
Freshly harvested durians (within 3 hours from the time it drops naturally) is not heaty. The heatiness is caused by our immune response to the fermentation by-products in the durians.
cool to know that!
Best flavour too. Can't eat old durian. Freshness is the most delicious!
Is there any scientific study done on this? Would be good to find out though it’s almost impossible to find durians which are freshly fallen in Singapore.
Would love to go to durian plantation to eat freshly harvested durians.
@@MelvinSimKHit's just common sense bro coz naturally organic matter decays. Thus, u get the growth of microbes trying to decompose the organic matter, durian
We just simply love Steven more than the durians . 😂❤ Who wouldn't?! Thank you for this program
thank you!
Another interesting and fun episode. 👍👏
Hello, I always found your videos informative, I have been eating durians once in a while. 😊
Great video, I really like it and thank you for providing the information
Another interesting and great episode! Enjoyed watching with a lot of envy. I wonder if the different nutrition results were due to the different fruit varieties? In other words, would different batches (of the same variety like msw, but from a different trees) also yield different results? If it does, this test may not be conclusive.
good job SG for conducting this scientific study.
Have been waiting just for this :)
I bought snowskin (blackthorn) durian mooncakes recently and eating them sparingly because I feared it’ll be bad for health. After watching this, I must give myself a pat on the shoulders for my good purchase 😂
Now no guilt in eating my durian mooncakes
Thank you for making this video, without scientific research, we wouldn't know its nutrition and the health benefits to our body! I really appreciate it. Watching here from Brunei.
Probably one of the more enjoyable experiment episodes for Steve haha.
Try eating durian only and nothing else. I’ve done durian only meal for a week. At one point after a durian lunch, I tested my blood sugar after 2 hours, it came out at 5.2 milimoles/liter. And I don’t feel heaty or all those nonsense. The problem is that we eat other foods that causes interaction with durian.
Thank you for the information and exciting documentary
nice! thanks for the info
Dive deeper into the subject by examining finer points, such as the precise application of chemical sprays in the soil and the methods employed by farmers who have successfully cultivated Durian trees without the use of any chemical sprays.
I am a fan of yours from the Philippines!
"We import20 million kilograms of durians every year"
And how many kilograms of it are ACTUALLY eaten?
Steven, I would gladly be the guinea pig for this experiment. I can happily eat durians in place of my regular meals. I in fact do so every time I buy durians because that's how much I love durians. And to avoid the sore throat and heatiness, I always drink at least 2 cups of salt water after eating durians. But lucky for my overall health, I'm not a high-income earner so I don't buy durians too often.....lol....
the salt water wont make you thirsty?
@@Notsurewhattoputlol Nope. Of cos don't put spoonfuls of it in one glass of water.

Excellent video for someone like me trying it fir the 1st time
Moderation is key?
Looks like he enjoyed the durian fest. One of his best assignment.
Gratitude! Best wishes
I'm craving durian now........
Another good episode from Steven Chia! My idol 😊 saw u somewhere but too shy to ask u for a pic together...am happy enough to bump into u 😄
come say hello next time!
I am so curious to try the herble soup and the fried rice.
I used to love anything durian and for a substantial period of time, I gotta smell durian on a daily basis. Since then, I haven't been able to eat nor go near one... Hope Steven doesn't 'suffer' like I do.
Why don't you like it anymore?
Everything in moderation -simple but effective philosphy. Outside of Asia, we get D24 and Musang King frozen and it will set you back USD50-60 per 500gm.
They should be far more as the environmental impact of durian plantations is not factored into the cost in asia. I hope that they go extinct due to the amount of forest destroyed by these disgusting fruits is immense yet durian actually require high quality forest for pollination
@@patrickwilliamson29 The greatest environment impact comes from over population. That is the root of the problem.
Yet people will complain and condemn certain industrial or agricultural products and then go home to make babies.
pls consider doing one on nutritional immunology food products. I saw Steven's interview of scientist Dr Chen Jau Fei years ago, may be it is good for a followup video?
Drinking lots of water is best to get out the heat.
Really heaty
You already know the vid’s gonna be good since Steven is the hosttt
thank you!
Hello! Can you do in grapes? Like in your durian test.
I love his job
Did they publish health articles related to this?
Thomas Shelby once said Durian has no limitation.
Always eat durian with mangosteen to balance out the heat .....
or pineapple, coconut water and watermelon
Been waiting for a new Steve episode for a long while!
Hi Steven - would you have taken up this assignment if you hated durians? 😂 Thanks for another fantastic Talking Point episode ❤ You are amazing! 🎉
probably not...would be hard to eat something you dislike every day!
@@Steven.Chia.Singapore Esp something that smells like that 😉
Lol, why not ask yourself the same dumb Q to self-torture for a living?
Hello Steve & CNA, please do a video on formaldehyde absorber gel for newly renovated homes!! Each tub can cost up to $20! Whether it really works to remove formaldehyde from new furnitures!
It’ll be an interesting topic for many home owners!!!
I am 63 loveddddd durian ..i being eating it since young n there never a problem. ..until i reached this age..after 2 mths medical check up..i became PREDIABETIC😭 my sugar increased and now my pancreas are sensitive to sugar or carb. 😔 i have to be careful n diet so that i don’t become diabetic..at least 5 or 7 yrs..or can reversed it to normal😔 now i just watched my favourite fruit. So the lesson is..don’t take too much as u grow old..just 3 or 4 seed for one week ok kot..or it will spike and raise yr sugar level. Btw he is young..still his sugar level raised.
I miss durian so much!
fire video
I love Durian, but I would only eat it as a fruit, or ice cream at most. I don't like it hot, cooked in foods. 😝
I'm curious about the sample size for the nutritional statistics given for the durian. I see a lot of factors that are not really factored in into this study which is supposed to be educational?
Which type of durians did you eat in 2 weeks? Mixed or same kind?
Love that old Benz
Looks like a 70's model?
I am curious how you manage to get a COE for it and keep it licenced?
My understanding is that cars in Singapore need to be scrapped after ten years and this Benz is clearly quite an old vintage?
i can't stop smilin', cna fam.
💗😁🤭😍🤩😘💟
I see durian I click like.
Bro living the dream
Interesting Video! Actually, Steven will be just fine because he ate 5 seeds only for each day. Plus, maybe if other people suffer some effect from eating durians, well.. should look at their lifestyle thoroughly: what they eat in a day, what are their activities, etc.
5 seeds a day wouldn't cause him any harm at all la. I've eaten durians only for a few days without any issues.
Sehari lima biji banyak boss😮😮😮
Durian is considered a healthy fruit packed with multi-nutrients provided the person who eats it doesn't have any chronic conditions like diabetes and cardio-vescular diseases. Moderate among of durian is good, same goes to other foods. Too much or too little will not do any good to the body. Last but not least, Banana is no longer the representative of Potassium but Durian. Even the doctor said potassium level in urine is high after having durian.
Also people with kidney problems should avoid it or eat small portions and rarely.
It is true what she says. That is why eating a little Durian is better for you, than eating a lot.
Plus, eating Durian just as it is starting to ripen will give a firmer fruit, than ripe, which will be soft or even mushy (over ripe). So it depends how you like to eat it. Firm, soft, or very ripe. I always choose firm.
And do not give Durian to the elderly, they may end up in hospital with a fever.
I agree but most Malaysians and Singaporeans eat it quite soft. They are wrong ! 😂 The outside almost as crisp as an apple with the inside soft and creamy is perfection imho.
I am elderly but find durian ok if eaten in moderation.
omg, the test to eat durians everyday are so inhumane, next time if there are those please let me sacrifice myself for the greater of others

Ah yes my hero! Hope you can do research on the “oxygen water” sold here especially by Giant and Cold Storage.
so will lower the price of MSW?
Eating durian while watching this episode is so satisfying.

Sometimes there were subtitles and sometimes not - why? Could you just add subtitles throughout the video?
Steven's Next Challenge:
Eat nothing but corn for 2 weeks and do a poop review everyday.
by the time the durian benefit your health, you have no more voice left.
Durians price gonna sky rocket after this episode ........
Wow 👏 amazing 👏 😍 yummy 😋
Is the merc for sale...now bro..😊
I like Dr Peng!
Drink from the husk you need to also add some salt.
Ikan keli masak gulai tempoyak is the best
❤❤❤❤ There are so many different types of durians because DURIANS MUST BE CROSS FERTILIZED IN ORDER TO PRODUCE A FERTILE SEED. If you grow a plant from say a D24 from seed, you would not get a D24 that is exactly the same as the parent because it is already cross fertilized by pollen from another plant. The only way to get the same characteristic is to bud graft or marcot the plant. 😂😂😂😂
Just don’t eat durian before you board a plane, your belching will force the pilot to U turn the plane for deep sanitizing with air fresheners 😂😂😂
Can make video of our local Indian Runner Shanti pereira ?
Fun fact: it's called duri-yahn, not duri-yen. Literally means "thorny thing" in Malay.
The rich people in Singapore call it Dur Yien. The poor say Dur Yahn.
@@eduardochavacano the eduacted one call it Durian, the ldlot one call it duryen
does it smell a lot? I use to hear this when I was in Singapore for 2 yrs
Yes its absolutely foul, hotels don't allow consumption in their buildings and for good reason
@@patrickwilliamson29 Yeah! Have you seen those “No Durian” signs that are a black silhouette of a pointy durian with a red circle and a slash? They crack me up.
but not as bad and funky as lndian people B.O
I used to do the same . Eating only durian and water for 5 days and it was awesome for my gut but not for my throat 😂 lips also get dry
🤔 durian pulp is like a regurgitated mess in your belly…imagine if there is a sizeable amount 😬…drinking water is all in your head 🤭
You should have done comparative measurements for the fat levels in different varieties of durian.
How do I get that dinner? which restaurant is this?
Yummy 😊
Love durian..............
I would love to take your place of taking the durian. 😋
It looks like MSW is not as healthy as others durian. Black thorny it is.😁

i jog a lot so my heel will pain... one of the cheat code i find out is by eating durian... it really did reduce the heel pain by a lot the nex day... drinkin beer and eating durian,i dun feel anything also...in fact very song
Myth:
Drinking coconut water is cooling for our body, but! If you drink coconut juice and eat its flesh then the cooling effect is "void"?
I guess that the doctor is being diplomatic by saying durian is a healthy food in order not to offend those durian sellers...
Actually have any discomfort even if I eat lots of durian everyday because I exercise and fast every morning, which will lower my blood sugar level
Wow I saw my hero appear at 1:20 mark 💯
love Steve's plant collection😆
