Gee, one week to go ... Remember when you were one week in. All that time ago. And now ... Those late lambing Southland sheep. All way done & dusted! The end of the grand vista's will soon be behind you. Almost like North Island country. Yayyyyyy 95% 🎶 🎵 The sea is within your eyes at last and soon to fill your nostrils. Your last time seeing it was so long ago. Onward and upward. Kia kaha!
We’re still meeting nobos. I feel so sorry for them knowing how long they have ahead of them. But then I remember, I at one time had that long to go as well. One day at a time…
@@freedom_on_the_trailWow, starting nobo now will make the Richmonds, Tararuas and Tongariro crossing interesting, to say the least! Not to mention the cold mud in Northland in July. Hardy souls.
Ninety-five per cent, ninety-five percent, 95! 95! 95! Woo! One week to go! You’ve seen the coast. The southern terminus is not far away. And you twisted your ankle today - twice! Eek! Watch out for that ‘get-home-itis’, Kurt.
Oh hope your ankle is okay for the last 5%. Hard to believe you are nearly there! #AUA I see you have an In Reach. Did you carry a PLB as well and what were your reasons behind this choice? Thank you
Hey Kurt do most TA hikers choose not to wear ankle support like eg ultralite boots? For the entire hike, were you wearing no ankle support? if the answer is no, is it because walking poles give you that support?
Most people are using trail runners now. They’re much lighter and dry out much quicker. They also help you feel the ground better since they don’t typically have hard soles. I think that is why ankles don’t get damaged as much.
Seeing the coast for the first time must have really put a spring in your step!
It really did!
I’m so excited to watch you finish. Going to be a great video. Keep going but watch out for yourself.
Thank you. Doing my best to stay safe
Kurt I am glad you had a "pizzatastic" ending to your long day of walking!😃
Wow seeing the first must have been really uplifting. Hopefully the ankle is not too bad. Maybe some Ibuprofen to help with the healing.
Vitamin I to the rescue! 😂.
Haha. Kurt, I almost expected you to say, "See those powerlines..? You know, they're illegal in America..."
😂😂😂
#AUA. For those planning on walking the TA, what 3 pieces of advice would you offer?

Thanks for finishing the song for me. 😂

Mt Linton always looks like long haul at the end the TA. Pizza would be good reward though.
It was a long day but fortunately not the longest we have experienced so we were ready for it.
