    Push left totally makes sense. It pushes the distortion to the left of the direction of motion of the cursor.

  • @maxmustermann3938
    @maxmustermann3938 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    The Push Left Tool does indeed push left - relative to the direction you move in. Its specified in the same "space" as is the push forward tool, which pushes forward in the direction you move.

    Super! When you explain, your little English accent ( Lol! ) is a big plus for my ear, I’m French and for me is so much easier to understand and very clear in explications. In other word, it is a real pleasure to listen. 👍 You didn’t”t waist our time. 🤗

    Wow! That last demonstration of the usage of the mesh blew me away! It's almost like it's it could be used as a 3D texture.

    Hi Olivio
    I've been enjoying your tutorials as I've recently migrated from Photoshop to Affinity Photo and I'm trying to work out how to do all the things I did before in PS in AP, so, thank you for doing these videos. I was listening carefully to your description of the various tools and you were puzzled why the "Push Left" tool was named as such but, the way I see it, it does exactly what its name suggests. Whichever direction you move the tool, the pixels to the left of your cursor are pushed. So, if your cursor moves from right to left, the pixels are pushed downward which is left of your cursor movement. Imagine you are driving a little snow plough (your cursor) and as you drive it along, it only has a plough on the left side of the vehicle, so, only snow to the left is pushed away.

    Very helpful tutorial. The push to the left tool appears to push the pixels in the direction that is to the left of the stroke. I'm not artistic enough to know how someone would use it, but I could imagine that it would more easily create an effect to push something outward if used when drawing curves and arcs.

    • @OlivioSarikas
      @OlivioSarikas  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you, JP. Yes i think that is the main use. Otherwise you would need to push-push-push and that will not give you a consistent move of the pixels to one direction over a longer distance

    "Push left" fits in as much as it always pushes the left side of your stroke/ line. So in fact, the name exactly describes, what it really does. You just have to imagine, your mouse indicator is a car, you are sitting in and goes in the intended direction. The effect of your cars tire prints always happens on the left side of you. 😉

    Is there a way to stretch a subject over the background? I tried masking the background but it became a block preventing me from stretching the head and ears over the brick in the back. Or do I have to copy the subject out of the background to do this. Trying to recreate those amusement park airbrush carictures.

    Outstanding tutorial that makes clear the power of Affinity Liquefy. But now Photoshop has upped the game by letting one make changes easier. Any chance Affinity will catch up? Same with Select Subject and Sky Replacement, where Affinity is behind the times, it seems.

    • @OlivioSarikas
      @OlivioSarikas  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Affinity Photo can do a lot of amazing things, but at the same time they are a small company. So it might take some time till they can develop these new things on their own ;)

  • @60secmusic96
    @60secmusic96 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    the "push left" tool is always pushing it to the left of the direction, you are moving! ;)

  • @seecraig
    @seecraig 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    I suspect a "practical" use of liquify tools is when shooting models and one might want to change certain parts of the body to make them appear skinny like waist or legs or maybe the opposite with some other parts like make lips appear more full.

    • @OlivioSarikas
      @OlivioSarikas  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi seecraig, yes that is how it's often used. though Affinity Photo does, to my knowledge, not have content aware stretching. So things are a bit more oldschool. It still works for that purpose though :)

  • @s.hoffmann5616

      not that i know of. but that's actually a great idea. write it to serif so they can think about it

    • @audirealan6496

      There's no need, simply move the AFDesign file over to AFPhoto, do the mesh edit and then move it back to Designer.

    Nice video but it seems that Affinity is way behind Photoshop's Liquify filter when it comes to adjusting face parts easily with sliders.

They are my creative property and i sped a lot of time creating them. You can however use the techniques shown in the videos to create your own creative content. Feel free to reference me as a source of inspiration. So to be clear:

      Can you create your own creative artworks based on the techniques shown in my videos: YES
