I made a lot of in-depth tutorials on coloring in my Retouching 301 course. You can check it out here. 😊 courses.affinityrevolution.com/p/retouching-301
Appreciate your tutorials. After years of using PS/Lightroom professionally (photographer) I migrated to Capture One Pro about four years ago and am now seriously considering switching to Affinity Photo. I enjoyed your tutorial and offer only this observation (not a criticism) : the direction and elevation of the light coming from the left would catch the flat ground on the left from near the base of the hills all the way over to light up the right side hills, leaving the only left side hills in shadow with a probable highlight rim at the crest. The swimmer would also be casting a long shadow to her left (viewer's right). Keep up your good work.
I think, if the light or sun is on the left side and make the right side of her face brighter, the right side of the picture must be brighter and not the left side. The left mountainside must be darker and the right mountainside brighter. Do I make a mistake?

Very informative video for masking, selecting and blending techniques. I would of thought that, as the light is on the left had side of the swimmers face that the hills on the right side of the image should be illuminated by the 'golden light' and the the hills on left would be in 'shadow'.
Great tutorial. Easy to understand. I didn't realise that Affinity Photo provides blending tools. am finally able to blend images using an app I already own.

Enjoying your videos. However, do you have a video of (or can add one) exposure blending? Usually for me, it's 2 or 3 images (-1, 0, +1 compensation). With most cameras these days, it easy to take 2 or more exposure compensation images. I got rid of Adobe earlier this year and would really love to view a video of blending identical images with different exposure compensation.
I was contemplating buying the software until I watched this video. I've used Photoshop for years and glad I made the switch and purchased the program.
such a good tutorial, your technical skills are great and who knows one day I may be able to do most of them but I don't think I'll ever have your vision and creative mind
By the way, Ally , I know you may have some tutorial about this: I have many birding photos, in where the birds are looking great, but the background is not, too many branches, even out of focus due to DOF, but they don't look well, they make the background fuzzy, and distracting. So I was wondering how to add a cleaner texture and make it blend? Any tutorial about this? PS, if you want to see the kind of photos I am refering to, I can send them through we-transfer ! Thank you both so much

Thank you for all of your wonderful how-to videos on AP and I just subscribed to your channel. I wonder if you have done a video on blending 2 images of one with a full moon and the other with a mountain range to create a resulting image of a moon partially appearing above the mountain top.
I do not have a tutorial on that specifically, but you can watch this video, and use the same technique to achieve what you are trying to do: th-cam.com/video/sfgv3wEtpQI/w-d-xo.html
wow, that was so cool! I hope I can learn all this, seems a bit over my head right now. I'm used to simple features of Serif from photo program years ago, it's fun to learn something new.
Love the video and really did learn a lot from it, but I had a little issue with the lighting set up; if the light is so strong on the left of her face, wouldn't that really mean that the hillside on her right would be well lit up, rather than being the darker part?
Thank you for making these, learning quite a few things here ! I got an irritating question tho, on the desktop the filter just works by placing it on top of layers, on the Ipad, it's unresponsive. Must be because the pixel layer is essentially an empty layer, I've tried grouping it but noting seems to work. Is merging down my work the only way to get a filter to work on the Ipad ?
Are you using Live Filters? I used a Live Filter in this video. To use live filters on the iPad version, press the "live filter" button at the top of the Filters Studio BEFORE you apply the filter. 😊
Solid presentation on compositing! I have started shooting Nightscape scenes whereby I shoot separate images for the sky (like the Milky Way) and the landscape. The scene is the same but each require different exposure settings. Typically I will stack multiple images for the sky and the landscape to reduce noise. I am new to Affinity, is this the process you advise for taking the two final images of sky and landscape to blend them together? Thank you...
Thanks for the video and the instructions! One small note: if the light hits the person on the left, the right side of the photo should be brighter, not the left.
This is a great video, Ally- thanks! What I really appreciate about it, is that it’s not just a “mask this, & plug it in here” kinda video. It’s the whole package of how to make a cohesive composite photo. I don’t naturally think that way, so I appreciate you showing the ‘whole package’. I bought Affinity Photo for Mac last month, but for some reason I really like working with photos on my iPad Pro. (Even though I like editing video on my Mac with FCPX. 🤷🏻♂️) Anyway, it’s been a while since you’ve done a video with AP on the iPad. Any chance we could get some more? Thanks for these!

Love this tutorial! So many useful tips. Thank you!! 😊
Thank you Daniela!
That sounds like you're doing everything correctly :)
Thank you for such an informative and very helpful tutorial. I actually managed to do everything in your video.
Nice work! I know this was a long project to follow along with. 🙂
Very nice. Could you have applied the first Gaussian blur to the street layer?
Definitely! You just need to paint white with the Paintbrush to reveal the Gaussian blur on the street.
You are such a sweet teacher and the result is very cool 😊👍
Thank you! 😊
Great work with some great teaching. Some of the AP tutorials on U-TUBE make things over complicated without explaining why they are doing something.
Thank you Ted! 😊
I’m so happy that I found your affinity apps . Thank you so much for making them ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
You're welcome! Glad you liked the video. 😊
Thank you so much! Whatever I know about affinity is basically because of your channel!

Really thank you for your kind advice , always feel happy just listenning to your voice !!!
Aww, thank you! 😊
Thanks for the video and the instructions! One small note: if the light hits the person on the left, the right side of the photo should be brighter, not the left.
Thank you! 😊
you guys have made my life for editing photos! thank you so much!
Thank you! I'm glad you liked the video. 😊
Thanks!
Thank you Roger! 🤗
Thank you! I'm glad you liked the video. 😊
Sorry, we've stopped making videos for the iPad version of Affinity Photo, since not as many people watch them. 😬
I can't learn. Her voice is the sweetest I've ever heard and her smile and giggles just take away the rest of my attention. I am so thankful to this channel btw! Keep teaching us.
Haha thank you! 😊

That's nice, does Affinity Photo able to export images at 16bit colour depth?
Yes, you can export to 16 bit TIFF files. 🙂
Amazing job Ally! I learned a lot by using this tutorial! Thanks for putting out these great videos!
Thank you! I'm glad you liked the video. 😊
It is mind-blowing tutorial! Thank you for all tips! Can you do the same type of videos for Affinity Photo on IPad, please?
