I can say for a certainty, I paint things and then question why I chose that. But if I try to be deliberate, it never goes well. I dont know why its always better when we are just spontaneous, but it just is.
That's you but for me, I strategies, I plan, while also leaving some room to be spontaneous. I'm very detailed artist, more about form, realism, and so just improvising alone won't work for me and never has. My improvising is about imagination, dynamic angles, lighting etc not just drawing lines without thinking. I draw and paint with purpose. Everyone has their own way. Just being spontaneous for me just hurts my work and slows it down and most of all, make me have to do far more work than necessary in the end.
Your. Not being spontaneous your just watchin a video that panders to your self delusion that your an “Artist” but all you do is chicken scrathches, but this video about nonsense painting validates your neuroticism.
Always fun to dive into an artist's mind. Being a literalist, though, I'll never understand when a person who does a thing well, or at least is well known for it, says they have no intention or plan. As if they are merely a conduit for happenstance. You would not be a painter if you do not paint. Blank canvas is A, painting is B. Start to finish, there is a path in between, a journey to be taken deliberately, if decidedly chaotic. Only when you are known for something can a person remain in A and receive praise for the blank canvas, admirers excitedly anticipating that the artist might make something of it. I do many things without planning them but in the end I am a person who enjoys doing many things. In a way, this is my plan. I fail to see the mysticism in life, you are here and then you are not, something must be done with the time. Whether it is today or tomorrow, even at rest, we are all intending to do something. Especially when there are bills to be paid. It is only when people expect or desire something from you that one can pull away from that expectation and leverage the situation in their favor, to make their time and talents a valuable commodity.
This about it like this: when you have a conversation with somebody else, you don’t know every word you are going to say in advance. We do it so naturally we don’t think about it, but if you pay attention you realize how much you’re improvising as you go. You have to pause and think of the right word, best way to make your point, etc. Making a painting is kind of like having a conversation. You make a statement by painting something on a canvas, then what ends up on the canvas is like a reply. Then you make your next statement based on that. I know that’s not exactly literal but it makes it more relatable than saying someone is a conduit or whatever other mystical language people like to use.
I think you missed his meaning about staying in (A). He has no intention to finish.(B) In (A) he does have an intention to paint on the blank canvas. If he was to die before he had the chance to place one stroke of paint, the painting would be complete. He doesn't think. It is just the Now. Like a squirrel hiding a nut. It does not think go here and then there and dig a hole. It is more to say "He is acting at a very high level of concentration on instinct" He also happens to have paint and tools at hand. Same as the squirrel "there was a nut" I typically start my figurative abstracts in the same manner he does his entire paintings. Simply allow myself to paint whatever lines or shape with whatever colors. Keep in mind, yes our subconscious mind is running and knows very well color, composition and what makes for good art. Same as the squirrel knows there is food inside that nut shell, yet has no way of reasoning. Our art pieces are never finished. We stop only because our subconscious is satisfied this is now became a piece of art. We never want stop. We are at a party!
Ive met dozens of these guys, mid life crisis, wife left them kids are in college, deperessed: 2 choices left: become an artist overnight with a completely subjective and alleged spontaneous percepective or buy a harley and hit, become “ tuff” over night and hit the road.

@@clivesweeting4410 you´re blind? Look! That´s what some monkey does with materials, look the artists we used to have and look the lazy arse bums are called artists! No eye for color, composition, drawing, nothing, just words to justify such mediocrity!
What a crock of sht 😂 theres no such thing as future? I just couldnt imagine mashing up uncomplementary colours and not blending or using any skill and leaving all the stroke marks visible. His paintings look like the sheet of paper i wipe my paint on. Maybe i should start framing my paint blending sheets and call it abstract 😂

"The painting is still saying ,no to mom...." 😭
you know, that the woman colour fitted in the painting behind her and sat, as she was part of it. 👍🏻
Humble, very wise, yet if you listen carefully you really get great tips

Only now!

God this is all I want to be a painter and take care of my child.
Cada uno se busca la vida como puede, nada que objetar .
Interesting body language from interviewer…
She doesnt believe a word he is saying.
What is the content? Deco?

What an absolute load of talentless nonsense.
With that garbage art certainly has no future!

Yes you should. That would show ‘em.
Tu razón te perturba, no sos libre.
Wow this is sad man… how do you expect to make good art with this attitude? Wishing you and your blended brush marks luck
He is not saying that there is literally no future. He is saying to live on the present moment
NO THEORETICAL BACKGROUND NO DICURSE. THE WORK DESPITE THE CHAOTIC OUTLOOK IS VERY LIMITED ON THE COMUNICATION DEPTH
