it's not because his brain was damaged after the attack that he got worst, it's the emotional trauma, he was attacked and then left for death, he felt extremely unsafe now he finds comfort in shopping and hording it's sad really such a nice man.
OMG What a sweet guy who did not deserve to be assaulted like that. He sure did deserve the help he got in making his house so livable. It was a deeply moving episode.
I've read that hoarding will sometimes start after a traumatic event like the man in this video. A formerly clean and neat person will turn into a hoarder after the trauma.
Yes...believe me my . I had a craniotomy. I had a brain tumour and strokes My personality changed ... I’m not a hoarder, but today I have a totally different personality.
God love his heart! His reaction was priceless! Now he can have a nice clean house again. It's hard to pull yourself out of bad situations by yourself. I'm glad they came to help him. Now he can walk in his room and have a good night's sleep.
I can already say this but my whole family is hoarders. My sisters room is full of random things she buys online and my parents can’t get rid of anything. My mother just buys and buys and then complains about money problems. My younger sisters never clean up and just pile on things that they buy or get. I feel like the only normal one because I clean up and I get rid of things I don’t need.
Same here. My mother, her friend, my brother and my two best friends all are hoarders too. Everything in our house is cluttered, except my room. I tried to clean the house multiple times in the past, but a week later it's messy again. It's so exhausting. Thankfully I am moving out soon.
My grandma was the same. She ruined home after home and left them once she couldn’t inhabit them anymore. It wasn’t strange to find a flattened dead cat once you found the floor or roaches every time you moved an object on the floor or wall.
I can see this guy can improve and is clearly willing to seek help. The fact he feels shame over his condition (which is terrible) proves he's fully aware it's a problem that needs to be resolved. A good psychiatrist could seriously help him and prevent regression. He's a good guy that didn't deserve what happened to him. I really think Peter is on the road to recovery
I'm going to be moving on Wednesday and I'm learning lots and getting rid of alot of things I collection in 5 years but new life and changes I feel awesome this helping me understand and not doing that again no more collections.
We moved to our own house finally, before move I sold two trucks of house hold items, threw away many bags of useless items, I m worried I may again collect things which we may not need, it's a big house, and I must be on guard, not to cling on things which are not needed.
@@frazin7103 Well done 👏👏👏Good for you...yes try your very best to stay clutter free...it's just like baggage slows you down/ holds you back. Goodluck in your new home and for the future 🙂
you are so great . Watch as you organize your books and plates neatly for the landlord. your family pictures are not discarded. but to hang them up is great. I watch a lot of cleaning companies, but you guys are the best. Your happy smile is very real, not a bit fake. I like you . Lots of likes for you guys.
i love the transformation! great job by these 2 men!!! i hope it would bring inspiration not to do clutter constantly as he had brain injury, having a nice and clutter free environment could help him feel better somehow..
I hope that there is aftercare for him. Poor man. It's emotional trauma, and he found two men who treated him with respect and kindness, and now there is a chance for a new life.
Maravilhoso é assim que deve ser organizando sem jogar fora lembranças muito preciosas pá eles foi o mais lindo e eficas organização que eu já vi parabéns aos dois.👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
This is such a common thing nowaday's. I see it when people have a loss they cannot fulfill emotionally. They need therapy, support and human connections. Connections of family, friends, social in the community, they need to feel valued and valid. The clutter is a manifestation of the need for that intimate emotional comfort, which actually makes them worse. I believe marketing and a false sense of self worth through monetary materials adds to the de-stabilization. They were wounded and cannot or will not acknowledge that directly. But that is the only way to heal, acknowledge the root of the hurt and find practical and incrimental plan of actions to progress from it. Whenever something impedes your ability to function daily, it is an addiction and it requires that specific approach to stop it.
I mean, it's fine to clear the rooms. However, without addressing his hoarding with therapy, after the clean, all he'll see is space that can be filled with new purchases.
These people are fabulous, just think nobody cared less, probably took out their phones instead. Certain things are treasures, but not much else is. Poor man, hope he gets better
I hope he can find a trustworthy person who can help him with the spending addiction, so he can safe some money in case of more injuries and such. Damage to the brain often comes with complications later on as well.
Honestly he seems he can manage himself, the house itself was clean it’s just had too many items, the toilet bowl was clean, he can dress himself and care for himself. He just had a disorder with hoarding due to the emotional trauma of what he’s been through
@@theowise6022 Perhaps it was a police officer who found him or helped him him after he was attacked and left for dead and that's his way of saying ... _not all police_ . Sterotyping doesn't usually help anyone.
There's a sticker on his door that says "police lives matter" as well, at 0:27. Maybe he feels indebted to the police if they saved him from his assault? Still not a great look, though.
I wish that people would just stop blaming their filthy habits on illness, parents, and brain damage. Those memory clippings and books are not the problem. His shopping and laziness is. Buy and toss. Buy and toss. Even nice people can be lazy and irresponsible. Take a clue from those lovely lady cleaners. DON'T let the hoarder stay at home while you clean!!!!

They likely had no idea he was in need.

I will say that hoarding IS A form of OCD. Like according to psychologists. And trust me, it CAN run in the family.

Peter isn't interested in cleaning he wants to keep everything
Parabéns pelo ótimo trabalho😚😚👏👏👏👏
Such a shame that he spent so much money on stuff that he couldn't even enjoy and he doesn't even have proper flooring in his flat 😔
Wonder if they clean out interiors of cabinets ,closets, fridge . Hope so
Bless him he reminds me of my mum😁 she has a story to every item in her house. Can't chuck nothing 😁
I know someone who does this after a brain surgery... how can I help them? Thousands spent online and they squeeze through to get to the bed...
Perhaps the trauma of the incident and isolation was being subdued by the dopamine we as money brained individuals recieve from opening packages?

150 boxes in storage? So he is going to pay for a storage unit?
Maybe not ......storage could mean in another room , basement or yes a storage unit let's hope another room.
I expect the English taxpayer will be picking up the bill.
Again, the hoarders are really spry. Leaping into the bed, keeping your balance in the obstacle course
I've seen 75 yr. old hoarders who can make amazing maneuvers. Scaling mountains of debris. Death defying.
I have a bad feeling in 6 months he'll have hoarded it to overflowing again.
No man, ffs.
You don't get cats like that today
Two weeks? Poor man it took a lot longer than that.
I hope things get better for him but he is a hoarder.

It will right back like it was within a month
Doesn't the narrator sound like Kim from How Clean Is You House??
Is it just me or do these flats seem to come without flooring? I know they take the carpet away, but they need something other than plywood!

Peter has money to buy all those things.

where is he getting all that money from????
