      I couldn't agree more.
      We had a similar show in France in the 2000's and the 2 women where always judging, talking to these people like there were their moms. They were SO irritating and it seemed like they couldn't understand why these people were living like this.
      I don't know when I came to understand that too in my life (when I was a teen I think) but I try to spread the same message around me. It's so important and can really make a difference.

    That poor man, losing his wife and his son within weeks of each other! I lost my dearly beloved parents and my son within one year, so I understand the terrible depression that can put a person into. Jamie and Steve are incredibly kindhearted men to clean so well, and to bring the man back to a home he can be proud of.

      It's very hard to lose a spouse. I have had a difficult time since my husband died. Sometimes it's because I figure it's only me eh why bother? I wo uh ld cook and could not give food away, so felt really challenged to have any kind of soc ializing. It's not as easy as people think.

    I don't want to assume things about this guy. But whether this gentleman had the skills or not; Mothers and fathers, if you read this, teach your sons how to cook/clean/sew.
    I've got 2 men living opposite me, who's parents always pampered them and said; 'You'll find a wife to do the sewing and cleaning.' They're now 50 and they eat microwaved meals and wash their clothes with handsoap in the sink. Whether this gentleman was capable of this or not, doesn't matter, it's unclear. But please do not only teach your daughters how to be independent, *also* the boys.
    Edit: I do not assume this man does not know how to clean or cook. I merely stated that many men especially his age, had never been taught by their parents. And therefore, grief-struck or not, would be unable to clean/cook, if they wanted to.

    I love this technique of helping these people! Other hoarding shows, it’s so sad and traumatic for the hoarder, they don’t give them enough time to decide where THEIR belongings are going... where as these three teams don’t make choices for the person and really try to work around the hoarders wants. This has way more humanity, I love it.

    glad the guys were able to help out, I can sympathize with the older gentleman, although I'm only 53 now, back 7 years ago my dad died and i have no brother or sisters so i was forced to deal with the loss most alone, i tried really hard to get some assistance from my local mental health services clinic here in Canada, but they turned me down many times because they are bugged way down with homeless drug addicts constantly overdosing, so they had no time have no for grieving people who become deeply depressed and had thought of suicide, So ive been doing my best to focus on the positives much as I can, but to truly move on and get to work again i still need some help but as times goes on the health clinic keeps getting more and more druggies on their hands and i have no money for a private clinic...

      I'll answer that for him, from an entirely personal perspective: I lost both of my dearly loved parents, my son, and my newborn baby girl, all within one year's time.
      My sister and her husband, and my brother and his wife, while knowing that I had suffered the greater loss among us, were also grieving heavily for our parents/in-laws (they were wonderful people, much loved by many in our city). I wasn't about to burden them by asking for help of any kind, even though such "simple" things as grocery shopping and laundry would have been sufficient, had they been able to offer it.
      The survivor often doesn't want to let others know how much they're hurting, and (we) tend to say that "everything's fine, I'm doing well," when in reality, the truth is exactly the opposite.
      It's been 14 years now since all the deaths in my family, but I'll never forget that extremely difficult time, and I hope I always show compassion to others who go through such a terrible time (and that did happen to three families over a two year period in my former city, and I was able to help them deal with the grief, though just one person died in each family, not four of them in one year).

    This is hilarious. They act like "sleeping, eating and living in one room" is somehow noteworthy, while for most of us young people, this is our existence with little hope of ever living anywhere better, let alone own a home. Having more than one room is a luxury.

    This is a clear case that shows that the government must start providing cleaning services for its citizens.

    • @popazz1
      @popazz1 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The government doesn't have a bottomless pit of money. Plus there are any number of agencies out there which are available to help those who need assistance. I've recently begun using Age UK for help with domestic chores which I now struggle with. Yes I must pay an hourly fee though it's not extortionate. And for those who are unable to fund domestic help there are other routes that can be taken. Where the issue lay is the lack of knowledge of what is available because the government is lax at providing information. There's millions unclaimed by those who could use the financial assistance. For those with complex needs it is usually only identified when he/she ends up in hospital, or if they have a good GP who can recognise when a patient is struggling and can be pointed in the right direction.
