It sounds like their parents, children or siblings that shared with them died and it caused serious trauma. Depression and trauma often do cause hoarding or people to completely neglect themselves and a property, particularly in older people.

If I ever bought this house, I'll definately clean it myself and work hard to make it spotless and when I'm done, I'll take a deep breath and appreciate myself for making this house clean and tidy. But on the other hand, it'll a nightmare aswell, so much trash in one area, specially if it's my living space, will be horrendous.

But there are masks like N95 that are better at blocking odour. Also, they can rub vicks or an essential oil under the nose before putting on the mask to reduce the smell. I’m a dental assistant and that’s what I do. Enduring the smell trapped in the mask is better than suffering the consequences of dust and bacterial exposure. On that topic, they should also be wearing eye protection.
You ladies are amazing. So much love and joy in something that would break other people. You change the energy of the houses you clean and it's occupants.

That's how bad my bedroom was when my depression was at its worst. I couldn't even think about cleaning because my brain couldn't cope. I'm currently battling depression and struggling to clean but I'm doing my best, my house is improving slowly, no where near as bad as this house thankfully.
