Love the review. I was hoping you had a series on this and boy am I happy! Going to subscribe and watch it all I like your 240. I almost bought a S14 for my first car in high school.
@@TheMrFlyBoy18 you are very kind my friend, thank you! I appreciate the comment and really appreciate the sub! And that's awesome you nearly had an S14 as a first car!
Long time no see. Still amazing content. Love this 240sx so much that I convinced my brother to buy one. It's so fun! Corners like it's got a mastermind behind the wheel. Love your content. Keep it up man!
@@jaysenmesso3756 bro your comment really cheered me up after a long day at work! Haha! Really appreciate that man and that is so sick you convinced your brother to buy a 240! It's just such an amazing car!
Hey man, great vid! Planning on doing the t56 swap for my IS and have the same clutch but I'm running stock power for now, would you recommend keeping it or going for another clutch? Love the build brother and hope to see more
@@chrisaldana9020 hey my man thanks for the comment!!! Love to hear you'll be going T56, you won't be disappointed! When you say you want to run the same clutch, do you mean the same clutch you currently have in your IS? If so, that unfortunetly wont work because thr T56 requires a specific flywheel and clutch combo to work with the throw out bearing. You can get away with running like a stage 1 clutch from McLeod and that wouldn't be expensive at all! Let me know if you have more questions and hopefully I can help you out!
@@TunerFaction No, I'm manual swapping my car from auto. The clutch that I currently have is the Mcleod that you showed, I wanted to run a stage 1 mcleod but they seem to be discontinued. Thank you for the response!
Btw. I bought an NX1600 cluster. There's a wiring diagram someone posted online, and it will work in the 240 if you want a cool dash upgrade with a retro 80s look.
@@TheMagickConch just looked at the NX1600 cluster man, and it's sick! That may be another upgrade for my car in the future! Thanks for telling me about it😁
Awesome stuff dude. Once i get my 180sx in the near future i definitely plan on engine swapping it for the 2jz motor as i’d love to daily drive the car with a more reliable motor requiring less frequent maintenance. I’d like to ask was there any problems after you had engine swapped the car? Was the car not very compatible with the engine at first or such? (Also I will definitely not be engine swapping myself, instead in the hands of professional tuners/mechanics haha). Keep it up 🔥
Hey man thank you for commenting! Absolutely stoked to hear you are planning a 2JZ swap yourself! To answer your question, I have not had any major issues with the engine/car since I swapped it. I've only driven it about 1,100 miles so far (1770km) so I haven't driven it much but I plan on driving it a lot more in the future! The issues I've had so far are really small things like little oil leaks and stuff like that. Overall the engine is super reliable and works great in the 240sx! I will keep you posted on if I have any major issues moving forward. Good luck with your swap man, and if you have any other questions please feel free to ask away!
You will have to change the clutch setup unfortunately. The T56 Magnum uses a Tilton hydraulic throw-out bearing along with a T56 Magnum specific flywheel, clutch, and pressure plate. You will also need a T56 Magnum pilot bearing. Hope this helps!
@@ricardoguazz good question! You can't make the transmission itself less noisy because it's the internal gear lash that causes the noise, however I bet you could lessen the noise by smoothing out your idle. The choppier the idle, the louder the transmission is. Just to give you some more info about how loud it is, it's not loud enough that you can really hear it outside the car unless you have a very quiet exhaust and you're standing right next to the car. And even inside the car, it isn't super loud but you do notice it if you know what to listen for. I've never had any of my passengers ask "what's that noise" (referring to the transmission).
@@damnitdang yes the 700 ft-lbs is conservative. From my research, the tranny can handle a CONSTANT 700 ft-lbs, but it can handle much higher than that for short bursts. I know some folks on various forms putting down well over 1000whp through this tranny with no issues!
@@damnitdang hahaha yeah it's just a bit annoying! It's really not as bad as you hear it in the video because the camera was right below the tranny, but you can certainly still hear it! That DM built R154 is a great choice, you shouldn't have any issues there!

You should test out some sound deadener around the trans tunnel in the cabin and see if the idle bothers you less.
