      Matt Schmelzer It's an important thing, the end of the movie (and the start of the next one) couldn't have happened without it. Personally, I'd think it'sd be awesome to have this BB8 be as similar as possible to the movie one.

    • @ziggyboogydude1
      @ziggyboogydude1 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Low Elevation RC Yeah, I do agree that it would be cool to have it, but I don't think it should be censored with spoiler alerts because it is really just a macguffin.

    James not sure if you'll read this but just wanted to give a big thankyou. I bought the Taz 3d printer largely based on the fact you use them on this channel, and after a very long time researching as well. And I absolutely love it. It's only a Taz 3 so it was second hand (still cost me $1500AUD...) but it's worth every penny. Not one print has failed, and everything I've designed so far in autodesk 123d design has worked perfectly. I. Love. This. Lulzbot. Lol. I'm currently making an automated gate so that our dog can't get down to the loungeroom, because people always left the old one open and she snuck down, plus it was a bad fit and was bent and broken. I'm using an arduino and a 10kg servo to open/shut the gate with two sensors either side to open the gate in the correct direction when someone walks past, also a little light will light up so you can see the bottom bar at night. Honestly I don't think I would be making stuff like this if I never subscribed to your channel so again just want to say a big thankyou!!! Rock on!

    • @tetsujin_144

      One of the two panels he hinged is the "thumbs up" panel (7:42 - "there's probably space here to have an arm or something that pops out" - just he didn't do the half-circle cutout on the clockwise edge of the panel) so maybe he'll get to it.

    • @tetsujin_144
      @tetsujin_144 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      ***** True. Reviewing the scene it is a pretty long arm with a bulky attachment at the end. Doing it accurately, at least, probably, may not be possible.
      Additionally the panel is oriented the wrong way for it to work for the "thumbs up" - when the panel is upright, the hinged edge is at the bottom or bottom-right.
      I think even if you could manage a smaller, simplified version of the arm it'd be a popular feature. Perhaps it could be stowed parallel to the circular panel, and (using 14:15 as reference) slide straight forward through the open panel. Not movie-accurate but it may be compact enough to get a decent effect without a complicated folding arm or a retracting arm that'd interfere with the drive system.

      ***** The video glitched so it showed that I was at 18:20 out of the 18 minutes and 3 seconds of video, AFTER the end. So even the video don't want to end itself.

    CongratsWith everything you have done, and I too, although far from an expert, I actually know bugger all about electronics, but I thought your robot did seem to take a slow Dow pill at some point. Glad you have found why that was and that, especially for larger open spaces like halls and schools classrooms it should have no problems driving.
