Thank you for your kind words. Makes me day when people enjoy these videos. So glad you found this one. I have made two of these for some special little ones in our family, so perfect for that. Enjoy
Hi, ive just started to crochet recently, and im making this blanket for my grandaughter, im using pinks and beige and white and its turning out beautifully. At first i could not get the magic circle so i decided to do all of the ones needed for the full blanket, as practice makes perfect so i made six of each colour im using (6) by the end i found them very easy. I thought i would apply this method to turning the circle into a square so i compleated 12 of the full circles and now im doing the squares, ive done 4 and now finding it very easy, i thought this method might help any other beginners. I would also like to say a big thank you for providing the free patterns and videos as i am retired and dont have a lot of spare cash, however i will be purchasing some of the more complicated patterns as i go along to support your channel 😊
Really great tip. Sometimes I do this too, as it makes the process seem easier when there are alot of the same square. It is like muscle memory, the more you do at one time, the faster they go. It also helps the brain part, as you can learn one rnd and then do it a whole bunch of times. Thanks for sharing this tip, I agree, good tip for beginners and experienced as well. I am glad you find the free patterns helpful and I always appreciate the support when people are able! ♥♥♥ crochet is a great way to enjoy retirement
Thank you, it really does, I do have a full pattern for it in my shop, but you could use as many or as few colours and just put it together with the join as you go tutorial. Enjoy
This was my first granny square *ever* and you made it so fun, easy to follow along, and very understandable! I had fun and my square turned out beautifully! I've done a lot of amigurumi thus far, but completely skipped learning/making granny squares in my crochet journey lol! Thank you so much for your clear and calming explanation and beautiful pattern to follow. Can't wait to learn more!
I made my first one it came out beautiful. The sewing in my ends and cutting the ends I snipped a stitch ... back to the drawing board I go. But it did come out beautiful. Hope I got a giggle from you and also hoping I'm not the only one in this world tha ever did this.
So glad it worked, so sad you snipped a stitch.... we all have that happen unfortunately, but glad you didn't let it stop you. I did get a giggle, because I can so relate to this! lol

Thank you so much for this tutorial. I have made rwo baby blankets with the little skye square using two different colour ways. Blue / green / cream and pink / purple and cream. They look lovely. I also joined them with one of your methods so another thank you!

That's awesome this is inspiring you, I make the joining an event of it's own, like turn on a good movie and away I go! Hope you give it a go, thanks for watching.
Thanks, yes you could carry the colours up the back of your work and only cut them at the end. I don't like carrying my colours myself. So I am used to just working them in, as I usually change my colours every row.
What a clear teacher you are ,but please why didnt u continue with the white stitch and show how to join it Is the best square i have seen in a while , thank you
I'm new to granny squares and I'm so glad I found your site. You create beautiful work but I'd like to know how (what stitch) did you use to bring this one together in the blanket.
I have a video on how I join my squares similar to this one, the link to it is in the description of this video. Hope that helps. Thanks so much for watching
Thanks a lot for this excellent video. The only thing that didnt quite "fell down" for me was the additional slip stitch on the 6th round to reach the wanted space for beginning the edge stitches but i will test some alternatives. Thanks again.
Well I did it finally. I skipped the slip stitches (don't like them) and inserted a new yarn and color in the instructed chain space and that came out very well according to your pattern. I really appreciate your elegant way of starting a new round of sc's, these seem to minimise the amount of yarn in that first stitch Thanks again.
@@jspcreate Didn't you do several crochet books years ago?? Thanks so much, I use acrylic yarns as they are the easiest for me to find in an large assortment of colours and are easy care for when I give these away as gifts.
Thanks so much. I have put a link to another video tutorial on how I join my squares in the same way I did with these ones. You can find it in the description to this video. Hope that helps.
Hi I was just about to ask the same. I have seen the joining tutorial but I can’t find one for adding the extra two rounds to complete the square. Very clear instructions and I will be trying this out for myself. Many thanks
I absolutely love this granny square ❤ in fact I love all of your squares the colours and stitches are second to none. I need a bit of advice, my tension is quite loose and my corners are a bit ‘baggy’! Could I chain 2 instead of 3 to create a corner and would it mess up the design? 😘😘
Thanks so much. Yes a chain 2 will work just as well. I go back and forth depending on my tension of the moment. Sometimes ch 2 works better for me than a 3!
This pair is Karen Kay Buckley Perfect Scissors. They have a slight serrated edge that makes them not pull the yarn, I love them and they have lasted me years and years! I left a link in the video description below to see them on Amazon ( affiliate link ) but I got mine at a quilt shop about 10+ years ago. Highly Recommend these.
@@jspcreate wow! Thank you for taking the time to answer my question! They stand out as sharp and of a handy size. I have noticed them on several of your tutorials. Top item on my “Birthday Wishlist” now 😊! Your tutorials are clear and easy to watch. I learn something new with each one. Thank you very much!
That is awesome, yes I can say the scissors are a good investment, they have outlasted all my other ones. And they are a good size to pack in a carry bag too. Enjoy
Thank you, I would use either a ch 3 or ch 4 to make a foundation ring instead of a magic ring. Depends on how tight you crochet which works better. Then you can leave it so it creates a nice open lacey center, or you can darn your end around the stitches and pull them in to close it up. Enjoy and thanks for watching.
I’ve been searching for tutorial just like this! Thank you for being an extraordinary teacher. Would you kindly let us know what kind of hook you’re using? Thanks.
Thank you so much for your kind words, I am so glad you like the tutorial. The hook is Susan Bates Silvalume Soft Ergonomic Hook. It has a nice foam handle and is still a long hook which I like. Enjoy
Thanks so much, the yarn I used for this square is listed over on the blog post, you can find the link in the description. It a variety of brands. The full pattern for the blanket will be out shortly with all 35 square colour ways and the yarns I used for it.
Love love LOVE your designs and color choices ! I wish I had found your videos earlier. I definitely want to use this pattern in my first throw. I have already done some squares in the daisy style, I’d like to combine the two. Could you point out where I can find the video for the cute border? I could not find it. Without the skye would be too small compared to my daisy squares.=)
Thank you so much! I don’t have a tutorial for the border yet. I have had alot of requests so I am currently working on a full series with 3 videos to make a throw with the Daisy Square. First video drops tomorrow ( Wednesday ) on how to change up the square border, working ends in and how many squares to make. And then there will be 2 more video tutorials, one on joining the squares and one on working the outer border. These will be out over the next three weeks. I am also working on the The Little Skye throw pattern, with assembly instructions and coloured diagram placement for all 35 squares, will also be up in my shop within the next week. Hope this will help. Thanks for watching!
Really like the colors used in this one as well as the others you made! A question though about the yarn used, is it #3? I am always confused as to what to get for yarn so it turns out delicate and beautiful!
I use a #4 Worsted Weight yarn, The #3 does come out more delicate, for lighter blankets or summer sweaters. I like the #4 most of the time, but I will use both.
What a well presented video with clear and concise instructions . Thank you for your expertise and demonstrating the technique so well. It now looks achievable . Your colour selection is striking .
Thanks so much. I have the pattern on my blog with supplies and yarn quantities. Link is in the description. Off hand I cannot remember the amounts, it would also depend on what size you make it and how many different colours you add in, I used alot of scraps on this one.
I just finished a series on making a throw for the Daisy Square and in the last video just released, I explain the border for this throw as well. I'll put the link in the description for this one.
Thank you. I am in North America and we call it a #4 weight worsted, I believe that may be the equivalent to an 8 ply in Europe or Australia, but not sure.
These videos work with the free written patterns over on my blog. you can find the full free pattern to assist in following the video at the link in the description. Thank you for watching
Thanks for your suggestion. These videos are a visual aide to go along with the free written patterns that you can find on my blog through the link in the description. The written patterns give each round written out in full, where in the videos I demonstrate the stitches for the repeats, tell you how many to make and then let you complete the rounds at your own pace. The other suggestion as below is to slow the video down in the settings. Hope this helps. Thank you for watching.
I insert the hook into the center of the chain stitch so I am only working into one strand of the stitch. I pull up a loop and if I am cutting the yarn, I will then darn it back under the stitch and through the same chain stitch again to secure before darning it in.
With your new method of joining colors; do we need to do the double crochet in addition to the original one it creates? I hope what I’m asking makes sense. Because when I combine your new color joining technique with this pattern I follow what you say here & end up with 3 in 1.
I'm not sure I'm following. Do you mean the invisible single crochet join method? If so, it counts as the join and the first sc. It doesn't apply to a half double crochet or a double crochet, they start with the usual ch 2 or ch 3 which counts as first st. I hope this helped, let me know if you mean something different.
@@jspcreate Yes that’s what I was trying to ask. Very new to crochet and your videos are the best I’ve come across. Thank you for taking the time to respond..
I believe if you turn on cc and go into settings and choose "auto generate English to Spanish" it should work for you. It works this way at my end, but not sure if it does everywhere. I also have the pattern with all the details for free on my blog, link is in the the description. Thanks for watching.
Absolutely, I tend to use the magic ring alot, but you can use a chain 3 or 4 foundation stitch as well. Just put a slip knot on your hook, chain 4, join with a slip stitch to the first chain to form a ring, and you can work into that ring instead. Thanks for watching.
I never have been one for mixing Browns and Blues but your taste is excellent. You have a sharp eye for tones.

Preciosa combinación, 💖 me encanta
Thanks so much!
What scissors do you use to cut your yarn? They trim so smoothly, no catching or snagging. Love watching your tutorials!
Enjoy
Beautiful tutorial!! How many stitches do I make if I don’t want to use magic circle?
Enjoy
I love this Granny Square! Thank you for sharing! Could you tell me what type of yarn you used?
I am so glad you enjoyed the video. The colours have become one of my favourite combos these days. Thanks for watching.
So very beautiful!!!🎉 how much yarn did this take? It truly is spectacular!
Thanks so much. I have the pattern on my blog with supplies and yarn quantities. Link is in the description. Off hand I cannot remember the amounts, it would also depend on what size you make it and how many different colours you add in, I used alot of scraps on this one.
What is that border stitch you’ve used on the first photo at the start of the video? It’s simply breathtaking
I just finished a series on making a throw for the Daisy Square and in the last video just released, I explain the border for this throw as well. I'll put the link in the description for this one.
Such a beautiful colour combo..❤it's 4 ply yarn or 8 ply yarn? Ans pls
Thank you. I am in North America and we call it a #4 weight worsted, I believe that may be the equivalent to an 8 ply in Europe or Australia, but not sure.
These videos work with the free written patterns over on my blog. you can find the full free pattern to assist in following the video at the link in the description. Thank you for watching
You need to repeat each step few stitches so we understand better each steps
You can slow down the speed of the video by clicking the little wheel icon which will allow you to follow more easily. Hope that helps
When joining at the 3rd chain, do you pull through just one stitch or two
I insert the hook into the center of the chain stitch so I am only working into one strand of the stitch. I pull up a loop and if I am cutting the yarn, I will then darn it back under the stitch and through the same chain stitch again to secure before darning it in.
❤❤❤
Por favor poner subtítulos en español o números en la pantalla gracias gracias 🙏
I believe if you turn on cc and go into settings and choose "auto generate English to Spanish" it should work for you. It works this way at my end, but not sure if it does everywhere. I also have the pattern with all the details for free on my blog, link is in the the description. Thanks for watching.
Update: now in round 4😊
Lindo❤
Thank you
Can granny squares be made without using the crochet magic ring?
Absolutely, I tend to use the magic ring alot, but you can use a chain 3 or 4 foundation stitch as well. Just put a slip knot on your hook, chain 4, join with a slip stitch to the first chain to form a ring, and you can work into that ring instead. Thanks for watching.
@@jspcreate thx for your response 👍
