A balanced varied diet is so important! For my patients in hospital, the dietitians' input is so valuable!! So much better to prevent inflammatory conditions, heart disease etc rather than treating them when they happen... And these recipes look delicious too! 😋

Do you know that people can die due to acute inflammation (cytokine storm) - the kind of body's response that 'fights' coronavirus delta variant! 'Acute' inflammation is not a good thing! Listen to the masses and doctors please. Some people passed away - not because of coronavirus, but because of their body's response to it i.e. acute inflammation damaging their own organs causing multiple organ failure and instant death!

The concept of eating the rainbow is pseudoscience nonsense. Eat fatty fish to reduce inflammation. Avoid sugar. She fails to recommend fatty fish and fails to mention how horrible sugar is, and instead, promotes all these sugar-filled fruit. Look it up. It’s not controversial.

DAIRY is the MOST CRUEL food of all. i would rather be killed in a slaughterhouse than raped regularly to keep me constantly pregnant so i produce milk for my babies, which they NEVER GET cos 1. my milk is stolen (sorry, farmed) for peoples cereal & coffee. and 2. my babies dont get my milk cos they're torn away from me screaming if they're boy babies to be killed as tender veal while theyre infants OR they're torn away from me screaming if they're girl babies to be thrust into the same life of unending misery, pain & longing as their Mum. Nadia, you are amazing! Just what I needed. A video that has everything that I need to know. You have no idea how much you have helped me understand this morning. God Bless you, my dear! I just started my healthy eating about 2 months ago by pure accident. I had noticed that I had gained weight but never in my mind would I had thought that it was inflammation. It all happened when a neighbor started sharing with me a smoothie that she was making every morning. All of a sudden people started telling me I had lost weight. And when I googled all the ingredients she puts in the smoothie, to my surprise they were all anti-inflammatory. This triggered me to dive into this. A good thing is that I am a vegetable lover, no problem in that department. And since then, I've been learning the power that fruits, vegetables, and spices have, and I am a true believer that nature has everything our body needs to heal. But I still visit my doctor and he also believes that and is happy with how my level of energy (night and day) has increased noticeably. Thanks again, Nadia!!!

Dearest Sadia, could you make a video about what people with gastritis or general digestive issues can eat? Lots of the antinflammatory foods listed here are really bad for gastritis, acid reflux, IBS etc. I'm personally struggling with these issues but in this day and age there are lots of us and your advice is precious. I've had IBS since a long time. The only thing that resets my gut is probiotics. Just focus on high levels of those for a while, then your body adjusts to the rest of the diet.
Hello. I have a gastritis since a long time. There are some dietary tips that hopefully might help to relieve symptoms: eating steamed or baked tubers (well cooked), legumes only in form of puree, fermented grains like sourdough bread, overnight porridges, some times refined grains are easier to digest than whole grains, like an organic white pasta i.e., ripe fruits and veggies. Hydration and mastication are to important when having gi issues. Also to try doing some excercise (even walk). Very sorry for my english. Hope it can help.

I can’t thank you enough for covering this topic! From someone who has a disease (SLE Lupus) which is flared up by inflammation, shedding light on how some food causes inflammation or how some foods help decrease inflammation means A LOT! It took me over two years to learn that food can play such a huge role in the pain caused by Lupus and it was all down to what I was eating!

Oh yay! It's like you made this video for me! I have an inflammatory disease so this is a subject I have poured over. I'm not a vegetarian or vegan, but I try to eat plant based as often as possible and I've found that the more I stick to plant based the better I feel. The only meat that never gives me problems is poultry. So for you meat eaters out there who have issues with inflammation, try going more plant based!
As someone who is dealing inflammation this is very help, the super vast majority of videos on this topic go "JUST DON'T EAT THAT (insert thing you love)" If it was easy to stop eating the thing I love eating, I wouldn't be on youtube looking for help. I just wanted to thank you for this video. I struggle with Ulcerative Colitis, pancolitis specifically. Got diagnosed in December of 2020 and have been home since fighting it. I just found your video but I can't wait to try these. Some of these foods actually cause me more inflammation, just because of my disease as they are trigger foods, but there are plenty that will be safe to eat. Can I also add, as I gave myself severely debilitating multiple sclerosis, that it's vital to think and feel good by focusing on the here and now, keep a positive attitude, forgive and let go. I have been vegan since 2012 and I have always prepared my healthy food from scratch. I also exercised regularly, took my daily dose of vitamin d from the sun and took vitamin supplements common for vegans. However 😞, I got seriously depressed and kept replaying memory movies from the past. I was filled with rage and anger until I almost completely gave up on life. Miraculously, I was taken to the hospital, lost or donated everything I had because no longer able to take care of myself. Now, after a war where I had to face my inner demons and my own dark side - as a vegan I thought I was great, better than most 😒, well now I know I am not, for sure!!! To heal I had to reset my system completely, my mind was full of trash and now I feel as a new person is, about to reborn: free of memories of the past or expectation about the future. The return to our innocent self! 😁🤗💖😊

Hi! I would love to see a video on how to cook and prep when you live alone. I live alone and if I try to have a wide variety of foods I usually end up with a lot of fresh veggies gone bad. I really hate to waste food, and I try to plan my meal prep and only buy the amount of veggies I know I will cook. But every so often I'll buy a red cabbage that I'll enjoy for a few meals and when I have 75% left it's gone bad. I really want to have more fresh veggies, but for the time being I only buy very small packages of a few things and stick with frozen stuff the rest of the time. Do you have any advice?
you can try to freeze the rest of the veggies. I also cook for myself only and cook a lot of pots. I use then the leftovers from each previous meal. I also just buy per item whenever I do grocery shopping, like I just by 1 carrot, 1 bell pepper etc..

I just watched you add like 2 CUPS of onion to a dish!!! Onions and other foods with fructans have been very high inflammation for our family. Cutting onion and garlic and keeping low on ADDED fructose has been amazing for all our autoimmune issues we used to have. A low FODMAP diet has been literally life changing and impacted all our health literally, getting rid of so many issues. The old school low inflammation diet they teach in schools won't last long.

I love this.. I can’t be completely plant based-I have a congenital disorder that’s causes me to have kidney stone formation and am prone to UTI’s. Now it’s best for me to eat more fruits and veggies and less meat and low sodium, but a lot of the super foods and really healthy foods are high in oxalate. That is the type of stones I form. I also have to consume a certain amount of calcium in order to not form stones. It’s like I want to be really healthy but at the same time I do NOT want to form more kidney stones. I like the fact that you have all of these recipes attached from the video. I will be trying multiple ones. Thanks for all you do!

Just to warn you, some vegetables and fruits are actually bad for IBS because of the types of sugars in them. Things like onions and garlic are big no-no’s for IBS. If you don’t know about it already, check out FODMAP. Some things you might be okay with, it’s a personal thing.

May I mention that organic meat has very low glycemic index as compared to beans. Organic beef or grass-fed beef prepared in a healthy way will raise raise insulin very slowly as compared to beans which has a glycemic index of about 47%, depending on the type of beans. If you're looking to reduce inflammation or lower carbs which raise blood sugar level and cause inflammation, red meat isn't such a bad option. 6.20. Also, I'm open to taking any correction 🙂

This is just pure gold, where do I start 😂. Agreeing with everything you talked about, I’ve heard this in the past so many times, and this is how we should be eating 95% of the time. Being Vegetarian is great but you should aim to eventually make the switch to Vegan for even better health and for the animals and envirmount :)

As someone who is studying to become a dietitian, this information was so helpful to freshen up what I’ve already learned from previous courses! By the way, something strange and lovely I've noticed after watching pick up limes videos is that the beautiful slowmotion shots make me do everything slower and with more afterthought and enjoyment myself, especially when cooking. Dearest Sadia, could you make a video about what people with gastritis or general digestive issues can eat? Lots of the antinflammatory foods listed here are really bad for gastritis, acid reflux, IBS etc. I'm personally struggling with these issues but in this day and age there are lots of us and your advice is precious. I second this. I suffered with gastritis for a year and finding foods that I could stomach was difficult >_
I've had IBS since a long time. The only thing that resets my gut is probiotics. Just focus on high levels of those for a while, then your body adjusts to the rest of the diet.
I was thinking this. As a chronically I’ll person with ibs and gastroparesis I can’t eat most of those things 🤦🏻♀️
I don’t know if this helps but most if these while raw hurt my stomach but when cooked they really help keep my IBS under control.
Hello. I have a gastritis since a long time. There are some dietary tips that hopefully might help to relieve symptoms: eating steamed or baked tubers (well cooked), legumes only in form of puree, fermented grains like sourdough bread, overnight porridges, some times refined grains are easier to digest than whole grains, like an organic white pasta i.e., ripe fruits and veggies. Hydration and mastication are to important when having gi issues. Also to try doing some excercise (even walk). Very sorry for my english. Hope it can help.

Try eliminating gluten from your diet, it can be quite inflammatory.

I can’t thank you enough for covering this topic! From someone who has a disease (SLE Lupus) which is flared up by inflammation, shedding light on how some food causes inflammation or how some foods help decrease inflammation means A LOT! It took me over two years to learn that food can play such a huge role in the pain caused by Lupus and it was all down to what I was eating!
I ask you to resume the food against inflamation pls!

Oh yay! It's like you made this video for me! I have an inflammatory disease so this is a subject I have poured over. I'm not a vegetarian or vegan, but I try to eat plant based as often as possible and I've found that the more I stick to plant based the better I feel. The only meat that never gives me problems is poultry. So for you meat eaters out there who have issues with inflammation, try going more plant based!
As someone who is dealing inflammation this is very help, the super vast majority of videos on this topic go "JUST DON'T EAT THAT (insert thing you love)" If it was easy to stop eating the thing I love eating, I wouldn't be on youtube looking for help.

These kinds of videos are what I would enjoy to see more of! Deep dive nutritional sciences. How foods work together for optimal absorbing. Maybe about how to detect things you may be lacking or what daily intake of things should be generally speaking, how to find a more proper balance?

Today my daughter and I were researching through your channel to find healthy recipes for people with MS - as my daughter was diagnosed with MS two years ago when she turned 25. She has just started work as a teacher and is looking for quick & easy recipes to cook for 2 people, and take to school for lunch. We loved this video, as I think it would be very beneficial for people with MS.

Just wanted to add a quick correction on the fiber content of beans/legumes at 5:40. I think you mean it has been shown to reduce insulin *resistance*, so it helps fight the development of diabetes. Thanks for the great video from a nerd who does diabetes research!

I just wanted to thank you for this video. I struggle with Ulcerative Colitis, pancolitis specifically. Got diagnosed in December of 2020 and have been home since fighting it. I just found your video but I can't wait to try these. Some of these foods actually cause me more inflammation, just because of my disease as they are trigger foods, but there are plenty that will be safe to eat. Again, thank you very much for this video, I can't tell you how much it will help me.

Can I also add, as I gave myself severely debilitating multiple sclerosis, that it's vital to think and feel good by focusing on the here and now, keep a positive attitude, forgive and let go. I have been vegan since 2012 and I have always prepared my healthy food from scratch. I also exercised regularly, took my daily dose of vitamin d from the sun and took vitamin supplements common for vegans. However 😞, I got seriously depressed and kept replaying memory movies from the past. I was filled with rage and anger until I almost completely gave up on life. Miraculously, I was taken to the hospital, lost or donated everything I had because no longer able to take care of myself. Now, after a war where I had to face my inner demons and my own dark side - as a vegan I thought I was great, better than most 😒, well now I know I am not, for sure!!! To heal I had to reset my system completely, my mind was full of trash and now I feel as a new person is, about to reborn: free of memories of the past or expectation about the future. The return to our innocent self! 😁🤗💖😊

I have been dealing with arthritis and thyroid issues, I was trying to find ways to rid the body of inflammation and ease up the pain from the arthritis. Hi! I would love to see a video on how to cook and prep when you live alone. I live alone and if I try to have a wide variety of foods I usually end up with a lot of fresh veggies gone bad. I really hate to waste food, and I try to plan my meal prep and only buy the amount of veggies I know I will cook. But every so often I'll buy a red cabbage that I'll enjoy for a few meals and when I have 75% left it's gone bad. I really want to have more fresh veggies, but for the time being I only buy very small packages of a few things and stick with frozen stuff the rest of the time. Do you have any advice?
you can try to freeze the rest of the veggies. I also cook for myself only and cook a lot of pots. I use then the leftovers from each previous meal. I also just buy per item whenever I do grocery shopping, like I just by 1 carrot, 1 bell pepper etc..

I just watched you add like 2 CUPS of onion to a dish!!! Onions and other foods with fructans have been very high inflammation for our family. Cutting onion and garlic and keeping low on ADDED fructose has been amazing for all our autoimmune issues we used to have. A low FODMAP diet has been literally life changing and impacted all our health literally, getting rid of so many issues. The old school low inflammation diet they teach in schools won't last long.

I love this.. I can’t be completely plant based-I have a congenital disorder that’s causes me to have kidney stone formation and am prone to UTI’s. Now it’s best for me to eat more fruits and veggies and less meat and low sodium, but a lot of the super foods and really healthy foods are high in oxalate. That is the type of stones I form. I also have to consume a certain amount of calcium in order to not form stones. It’s like I want to be really healthy but at the same time I do NOT want to form more kidney stones. I like the fact that you have all of these recipes attached from the video. I will be trying multiple ones. Thanks for all you do!
Hemp seeds, flax seeds, walnuts, soy, spinach, almonds, are all high in oxalate. This is the struggle I have unfortunately.

Just to warn you, some vegetables and fruits are actually bad for IBS because of the types of sugars in them. Things like onions and garlic are big no-no’s for IBS. If you don’t know about it already, check out FODMAP. Some things you might be okay with, it’s a personal thing.

May I mention that organic meat has very low glycemic index as compared to beans. Organic beef or grass-fed beef prepared in a healthy way will raise raise insulin very slowly as compared to beans which has a glycemic index of about 47%, depending on the type of beans. If you're looking to reduce inflammation or lower carbs which raise blood sugar level and cause inflammation, red meat isn't such a bad option. 6.20.

This is just pure gold, where do I start 😂. Agreeing with everything you talked about, I’ve heard this in the past so many times, and this is how we should be eating 95% of the time. Struggling with inflammation, I’ve had to change completely the way I eat. No surprise there I am much better, lost 2stones and half in 3 months, my sleep improved, my mood and anxiety way better.
