- Status effects are perfectly balanced, poor SIr Ofnir had the honor of being weak to all except sleep so I took advantage of that. I also used the crossbow glitch from the new Elden Ring update that allows it to proc to debuffs at once. RIP PVP Builds.

BTW I proc rot and frost at once with my crossbow by having a buffed weapon in my right hand. For some reason that buff applies to crossbow bolts too lol

Of the most common complaints I hear about these sorts of games, it works perfectly find, loading doesn't take too long, and there's hardly any hitching in FPS. Yes, there's a couple hundred exploits at any given time and balancing could be better (to put it generously) but that it's "bad from a technical standpoint"? The game works, dude!

@@westa8427 Although you've definitely made some sort of mistakes when you played your first FromSoftware game. Wether it was mistiming rolls, parrying late, panic rolls, or other things. Everyone experiences this.

Such a really deep and profound part of the lore - it shows that human element of a character, how much the weight of responsibility of leading the roundtable hold has withered him not just mentally, but even physically.
You were fighting giants, dragons and demigods, and, even under the stallwart unflinching venere, he's still just an old man.
So MAY BE crushing him with +25 Spiked Great Mace is LITTLE BIT over the top.
His one regret was that he had boneitis.
Well to be fair, he also got crushed under the physical weight of Greatsword +25, his bones are definitely gone
accurate as to what gideon said when I rocked up with two 25+ giant crushers, both with royal knights resolve.

Love the edited voice lines and gideon deserves it for casting out nepheli and spamming magic making him a deathtrap for melee characters. If he is the all knowing he didn't know how to cure those status effects.
my melee character backstabbed him while he was monologing and then ended him with a jump attack, no deathtraps here

On NG+9 now, never found him to be anything more than a speedbump on my way to the end, using both pure melee and status effect melee builds. He's really easy to stagger, see. He can't cast spells if you're lumping him over the head with a sword twice the size and width of his entire body.

First time I fought him I just prepped the pizza cutter and just started. I was like: "I've been attacked on sight day in and day out, I'm gonna show you what it's like".

I don’t recall having that much of a hard time with him. It’s funny to see him rolling away from all your spells. Lol
He's a fairly easy boss because he's basically a glass cannon on top of being a Tarnished, which means that his poise is low, his HP is low, he's vulnerable to backstabs and grapple moves, and he can be affected by every status effect including madness. If you let him drill you with his spells, though... he hits hard and quickly turns the fight into a bullet hell.
I thought he was meant to be comically easy. Kind of like a comedic relief after Malekith and before the ending. I think I three shot him and found it pretty hilarious after his big speech.
Just don't let him cast, he hits like a truck.

Well he is the “all knowing” except he just blurts out his knowledge with no strategy like I do on school tests
It gets worse if you do something relating to talking with him about the bosses you killed. He uses their moves including the scarlet aoneia or whatever it’s called. Melina’s flower. He uses boss moves if you do some kind of trigger relating to talking to him. Otherwise he’s just a normal sorcerer. The name and the armor as well as the cutscene coffin with all of the ears are fitting. He takes in that knowledge and uses it to fuck your character.
That's what I imagined. MFer was using Malenia's, Rykard's, and the Nihil guy's spells and I was pretty sure that had something to do with me telling him where the bosses were. Couldn't confirm it, though, so it's nice to confirm it here.

I honestly wasn't expecting to one shot kill him my 1st playthrough. I kinda just walking in and use frenzied burst annnnnnnd he's gone
You can actually kill him in 2 hits with the madness eye beam, use it 2 times and he will vanish before your eyes
Having misericorde +25 in your offhand then two handing a seal will make inescapable frenzy one shot him

It's funny when I fought him he used scarlet Aoenia, then my mimic used it and then I used it. It was like 15 seconds tops.

I wish this fight was harder or longer in some way. The premise of fighting the most knowledgeable guy in the entire Lands Between and that being reflected in his being able to use every incantation and sorcery is a really cool concept but has terrible execution due to his abysmal health pool and resistance combined with his 30 second monologue where he just stands there waiting to get killed.
He's a mage. Why should he have a huge health pool? In what game ever do mages have huge health pools?
@@jaddy72 ones where he prepared for his entire life, like this one. I agree he should've had more health, I wrecked him without much effort and same with Godfrey/Horrah.

he's more a philosopher than a warrior and it showed against us.
I found his limits about fighting fitting the character tbh.
If he had the power to become an Elden lord he wouldn't have waited for us in the first place.
For me, it kinda makes sense from the story point. He might have obtained immense ammount of knowledge, but that alone doesn't grant him the ability to use it well. He has been sitting on the sidelines, having other people do stuff for him, which leads to him having theoretical knowledge which he can not utilize properly in practice.

I must have gotten really good rng on my first play through. I thought Ofnir was one of the easiest bosses in the game, and he didn't cast nearly as many spells in our battle as he did yours.

I died to him twice in ng+ because I think he was casting Law of Casualty, and i didn't know he had it, or what that spell did at the time. He just kept randomly exploding and one shot me with it LMFAO

Why the community hates him so much? Apart from treating his daughter poorly, he's a good fellow after you get to the capital. Also, it was obvious that if we both wanted to become the Elden Lord, we would have to fight for it eventually.

@@danlorett2184 Compared to the 17k+ damage it used to be able to do? It's a pretty huge step down.
I kind of wish madness procs would just one shot him, it would be a funny reference to insight in Bloodborne making you more susceptible to frenzy.

@@Auraknight Yeah, because it's pretty obvious it should never have done that much damage. I mean, you're complaining because a spell that USED to one shot a late game boss instead only 3 shots them now. It still does really strong damage for one cast. Gutted just isn't the word I would use - I'd say it's more balanced now because it's still perfectly usable (esp on Gideon because of his monologue lol).

Your version of Inescepable Frenzy did SO much more damage than mine. Mine would've taken a dozen uses at least to kill him, whereas yours could've three shot him.
Was one shotting him b4 they fixed the last patch
In patch 1.03 it would do dmg based of the crit of your main hand weapon, when I first tested it out I was holding a hammer which has a 2 part crit and it was using only the mini hit part for it's damage calculation and barely did anything. Then I switched to the misercorde dagger and it one shot everything including Ofnir. Now it is just based on your incant scaling.
